    The initial comments were so on point. When that first bmw arrived it was such a “shocker”.

    Great video Chris. Now that I have gotten older I’m impressed by the technology leaps motorcycles have gone through. Can’t wait to try out the new bmw s1000rr myself to be honest.

    Brilliant Chris, an hour and a half seemed like a bit of a test for a racing return next season now that would be great to see!

    That’s an interesting exhaust note on the race spec bike, sounds like a highly strung twin at lower revs.

    Cool video, what was the difference in laptimes?

    • @chrisnorthover7582
      @chrisnorthover7582 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Sadly we never got a completely fair lap comparison as we were plagued with damp patches and red flags. Superstock bike was a couple of seconds quicker from the data we had, but definitely some wind and wet biasing that.

    Does the SS class electronics (or the rules, rather) allow teams to adjust torque curves and such, of the engine?

    • @chrisnorthover7582
      @chrisnorthover7582 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You are allowed and able to tweak the throttle curves within preset values to effectively reduce the torque, which this bike used to control the response in the first three gears.

      @@chrisnorthover7582 Apologies for the _very_ late reply. Thank you very much for answering my question. So much variable code in the electronics I've no idea how governing bodies/scrutineers regulate it. In the top racing categories the folks running the show need to be more intelligent than the racing engineers :/

    • @chrisnorthover7582

      Rear brake - quite a common mod for racers to be able to use the rear brake more easily, especially when hanging off the left hand side of the bike

      Got an X-Spirit 3 now to replace the NXR. NXR has been a great road lid, but chin bar feels a little close at higher speeds on track, X-Spirit is much nicer there.

    215 hp at the wheel with the stock map!?

    • @chrisnorthover7582
      @chrisnorthover7582 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Think that's with a remap - the point Jacko was making was that you could achieve that power without having to take the motor apart and do superstock-legal fettling...

    10:57 well you kind of have to remember that bikes are more limited by dimensions than actual power. there's just so much power that you can put down without flipping over. you can see all the 220+hp tuned bmws struggle to keep the nose down even in 6th so we are already pretty much att the limit of power for the first at least 125mph-140mph. for bikes power is more about moving the performance up in the speed range. adding power just makes it go faster in the top range not in the bottom as that's already pretty much caped power wise. only electronics and clever aero can make you get more power
