- Going back to the uncleared garbage and happened to stumble across a little Timmy level that actually seemed to acquire characteristics of an actual level. The rest though, were again questionable.

These kinda things make me cry
That last level had so much potential that it's actually sad. It's like it was made by big Tommius who just didn't think through his stuff.
I thought surely this HAS to have a dev door. Went into the level and apparently that's not the case. The only thing I can think of is that he thought that if you hit a checkpoint it will save the switch state, but that it wouldn't work for him because while he started from the checkpoints he hadn't gotten the checkpoints so the state wasn't saved. I hesitate to think it's a troll because if it was it's a troll that must be really frustrating for him considering he had to clear this piece of garbage 3 times from start to finish.
It good level but you all think all levels need to be soo cool

@@TheKingFireDragon no it is literally a bad level that was not thought through properly. The idea had potential, and seeing the first room, it did not look too bad. But the rest just didn't work

That last level seems to be the ultimate troll level. Lures you in by looking decent...
It says it's trying to be tutorial level, so it's trying to teach you how to do all the shell and shellmet tricks.
nick012000 too bad the tricks themselves are set up to not work consistently and the checkpoints are pointless
i dont think it would be a bad lvl if the checkpoints were set correctly.
@@Misakyz The unnecessary on/off pipe entry shenanigans and softlock at the end are pretty bad, though... Especially since the checkpoints are worthless.
@@justrecentlyi5444 It's punishment for failing to properly execute the tricks it's trying to teach you - you'll keep doing it until you learn how to do it consistently, and the softlock only happens if you break the level's intended purpose by trying to cheese it with the shellmet. ;)
I love Panga's video titles, it's always got the ALL CAPITALIZED WORDS in the beginning of the title, then at the end it's just like "yeah the level is alright"

True, but sometimes, the coins can lead to trolly places, so I guess panga thought it would be a bit of a troll.
The coins seem to move pretty sharply towards the end of the trail, so I don’t blame him.

I bet what happened with that last level is the creator saw a red coin level with checkpoints and was like, "that's a great idea!" but didn't fully grasp how it works. hopefully they've learned since.

So, I'm not a creator, so I don't *actually* know, but just from all the SMM I've watched it seems like that level creator was trying to do a recycling checkpoint like in red coin levels, but the recycling checkpoint didn't actually do much. In red coin levels, the recycling checkpoint helps you save your coin collection progress. Which I guess in this stage the recycling checkpoint is supposed to save your ON/OFF switch state? But then one of the parts of the progression requires a P-switch, which you still have to go back through the level to get if you die on the part that needs a P-switch. So, yeah, like Panga was saying, the checkpoint doesn't really mean anything in the level.
11:34 The worst part about this is the creator had to clear the level from every checkpoint so he knows the checkpoint doesn’t work lol.

@@Xezlec It doesn't really make sense as a troll. To the player they might as well not be there, it's not like they impede the player or anything. But the creator had to beat their level three times to put in useless checkpoints. Feels more like the creator trolled themselves. I think this was a genuine attempt at making a good level (keyword "attempt"), and the creator thought that things like on/off state would be saved by checkpoints in normal play, but not in upload.

That last level looks like it was trying so hard, had some alright ideas, but was never tested or played by the creator outside of the clear check and thus suffered from several oversights on top of having poor pacing and janky setups.

Maybe like testing the mechanics when the game first came out, but I try to make the levels the best I can usually.

Is it worse to have a level of pick-a-door, dev exit, etc hot garbage, or a level that should be good, but is actually just poorly designed and broken? (the last level)
My 5 ,7 and 10 year olds have accounts they make stages on. You would be surprised what a 7 year old can make. My kids blow me away. But I have also taught them about level testing

on the og mario maker, i had a level with no dev door, but instead a dev cheese. you grabbed a cape and went over a wall at the start, then you got to the end. the cape was hidden block towered though.

I don't know to be honest. I'm guessing he would stream early in the morning, and sometimes very late at night, which might explain some of the toilet breaks.

This shell training level was so bad. Not only was it broken and janky, it was actually harder than many actual kaizo shell levels, making it useless in its stated purpose.
My 6-yearold likes to watch all you MM2 streamers, and loves making levels. He's made a few good ones, he loves making stuff.. Maybe I'll figure out how to get some of you to play one of his levels some time, he'd love that. I'll find his "best" one if I ever figure out how to submit them.
