Knowing this, I would not let my child out to play, even if I was watching them. I would have found a safer place for her to play, but that takes more effort than letting them play in the street. Those dogs should have been taken far more seriously.

He will however have time to reflect and perhaps discontinue having dogs of that breed if he can not properly care, house, and train them

The pit bull is an aggressive dog because it was bred to be a fighting dog but with proper handling, training and discipline the dog will learn what is good and not good. The whole situation depends on the owner and the dog. Most of these attacks are by dogs that aren’t being properly handled by the owner. Yes the instincts of a fighting dog are to for the dog to be able to fight but that doesn’t 100% confirm the dog will be aggressive because it’s based also slightly based of interactions the dog has. It basically resembled the central park jogger rape case ,they found some kids n a few friends or others around n made them all suspects even when the DNA proved he didnt participate they told my mom because he was the oldest n signed a paper he thought was for him to make a statement n go home ,it ended up being a confession the dirty cop typed in his words n made him sign while under duress. Everytime I hear about this stuff happening over n over it pisses me off n America wonders why the black ,poor n minority communities have no trust in police, I think it's obvious if you're all watching the news n seeing what's happening. In the San Francisco case, Ms. Whipple was NOT attacked by a Pit Bull. She was killed by TWO Presa Canarios, a dog much larger, much more aggressive, very dangerous dogs, with a bite strength, well exceeding a Pit Bulls. The average weight of a male Preso is 130 lbs. It is ALWAYS the owner's fault if you knowingly own an aggressive dog, and it's ALWAYS the owner's fault if YOUR dog IS aggressive. She should get life in prison. And, so should the man that let his dogs run free by not properly securing them.
Most pet-related violence could've been prevented had they been given a more stable upbringing. Left to roam loose, they may never learn rules and boundaries, dogs being domesticated and not having their own social structure to fall back on. Left too loose, they may grow up completely feral, having never been socialized for human interaction. Raised in too hostile a home environment, they'll learn that behavior. It happens with some dog breeds more than others, based on what their owners were looking for in a dog, but it can happen to any dog of any breed.
We had a neighbor with a golden retriever and that dog attacked everyone in the neighborhood and the dog warden didn't take it seriously. That dog attacked a realtor and gave her over 400 stitches. The lady moved and I think the realtor went after the owner after I told the realtor how the dog bit people prior and these people had to get stitches. The dog was a GRIN. Golden retriever in need. So any dog can be vicious!!! I just want to add the dog warden told me I could discharge a weapon if the dog comes in my uard. Ummm hello... my kids were 7 to 14 and I'm not always outside with them and I'm not giving my teenagers weapons.

In the first case covered, it makes me so angry that after years & multiple requests, the coroner wouldn't answer questions. A TV camera shows up and the coroner is SO helpful. I call bulls--t!

My heart goes out to the parents and family of the little girl that lost her life to those 3 dogs, I honestly believe the owner of those dogs SHOULD face criminal chargers, especially when the father of the little girl went and tried to speak to him a week previously.

In the San Francisco case, Ms. Whipple was NOT attacked by a Pit Bull. She was killed by TWO Presa Canarios, a dog much larger, much more aggressive, very dangerous dogs, with a bite strength, well exceeding a Pit Bulls. The average weight of a male Preso is 130 lbs. It is ALWAYS the owner's fault if you knowingly own an aggressive dog, and it's ALWAYS the owner's fault if YOUR dog IS aggressive. She should get life in prison. And, so should the man that let his dogs run free by not properly securing them.
Most pet-related violence could've been prevented had they been given a more stable upbringing. Left to roam loose, they may never learn rules and boundaries, dogs being domesticated and not having their own social structure to fall back on. Left too loose, they may grow up completely feral, having never been socialized for human interaction. Raised in too hostile a home environment, they'll learn that behavior. It happens with some dog breeds more than others, based on what their owners were looking for in a dog, but it can happen to any dog of any breed.

We had a neighbor with a golden retriever and that dog attacked everyone in the neighborhood and the dog warden didn't take it seriously. That dog attacked a realtor and gave her over 400 stitches. The lady moved and I think the realtor went after the owner after I told the realtor how the dog bit people prior and these people had to get stitches. The dog was a GRIN. Golden retriever in need. So any dog can be vicious!!!
I just want to add the dog warden told me I could discharge a weapon if the dog comes in my uard. Ummm hello... my kids were 7 to 14 and I'm not always outside with them and I'm not giving my teenagers weapons.
Sadly our justice dept is totally corrupt .there are so many innocent people in jail , because of the plea deal ,you are told you will get severe rumen if you dont take the deal. Coercive.

About the dog attack, I think it's important to remember that it's not important what types of dog it is, just as it's not important if we are black, white or asian, there is bad in good in every race. The fact that this man was asked to secure his property and didnt do it, knowing that he has 3 potentially dangerous dogs makes him guilty. Even if he doesnt end up in jail, he should be banned from ever owning a dog again.
Definitely a lot of things we need to work on as a society.

Yep, here comes a Pit-Bull owner comment: I know they are a dangerous breed. But, my Luna-Belle is so sweet and we NEVER, EVER, EVER let her off her leash. Because, with a Pit, one cannot predict their behavior. Pits are known to have a "streak" in them: so be careful for others. Luna is an angel, but she never runs without a leash.
