    Leaving out Ronaldo who’s the most influential and popular athlete of the 21st century is so dumb. Almost every footballer references him for his machine like work rate which has inspired many. He was one of the first to invest in his own chef, gym, massagers, sports therapists etc and revolutionise how players dedicate themselves and train. He was also the first who brought the knuckleball technique to everyone’s attention and many copied it after. Even his mentality is studied and there’s an actual university course on him.

      Ronaldo was a skinny shit when he first joined United. He worked his ass off to be the best and within years Ronaldo changed the PL. His style of football was like no other. Messi also changed the game but both players had different style which can't be matched in modern day football.

    • @KamielSadien
      @KamielSadien 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      He didn't revolutionise anything. He and Messi are both evolutions on the ball-carrying, all-round forward that came to the fore in the early naughties.
      George Weah is considered the godfather of this style of play.

    It’s not that Sterling was the first to speak out about racism, it’s that he’s doing it through platforms that didn’t exist before and therefore having more influence. It shouldn’t be undermined as just posting on Instagram because it’s for a great cause and it’s already affecting change. Good on him.

    Ada Hegerberg is not only what he said... she's an incredible footballer and would be an asset to any team, male or female. She's the first woman footballer that's broken all traditional/stereotypical barriers, the first to be an actual consistently entertaining footballer on the female side that I know of.
    I don't care about status or rights because that's never been an issue in my friend circle/aquaintances (respect is earned, not taken,is the only rule of thumb), what I mean is that she seems like the first female that has devoted her life to football, and actually taken it seriously and worked AS hard for it as male professionals (and eventually gotten good support), and that should open women's eye to how professional footballing should be done. Instead of whining about rights blah blah, they can see that hard work pays off.
    And to others (especially media), that female footballing can actually be entertaining.
    After Ada, more and more female footballers have started approaching professionalism.

      Charlton was so much more consistent. He won England a World Cup, won the Ballon’dor, was constantly in the world 11, and was the main reason Manchester United won all of the trophies they did. Look at what happened to them after Charlton retired, they got relegated even though best was still in the team
