The jingureki seems like an Almanac: A calendar, mixed with other information in a complete package. The one you mention about planting is something we call a "Farmer's Almanac" here in the States. It includes the phases of the moon and weather predictions, as well. Setsubun sounds fun, a lovely change of atmosphere to shake off the winter chill. I know I would have thoroughly enjoyed throwing beans at my Dad as a kid. Being encouraged to do so for a holiday treat would be far better than getting in trouble for it. Unki and your reflection on your bout with the flu are delightful reminders to not constantly fight against the reality of your situation. That things will inevitably change, if given the space and time to do so. I hope the remainder of your sickness dissipates quickly and you find plenty of rest and rejuvenation, in the meantime. I'm glad you were able to share this with us. Thank you.
Azumi, I love your ritual for SETSUBUN, that allows children to feel empowered by ridding the house of the evil ONI. It looks like they are having fun pelting dad with those beans :-) Also, what you said about taking time that is given to rest, reflect and feel a part of the universal energy is very meaningful. May you always be blessed with warmth in your home.
We call that kind of calendar an Almanac - especially a Farmer's Almanac... which helps us to be in tune with the lunar-solar calendar and the movement of the planets...
I so loved this video, dear Azumi!! Thank you very much 🌻🌻
Subarashii desu, Azumi-san.
