月島雫のお母さん役は室井滋さんが演じてますね。このカントリーロードは確かジョンデンバーで原曲としてあったと思います。また日本語Versionのカントリーロードは本名陽子さんが歌っていますね

I got so confused by this because 1.) I've never seen this ghibli movie and 2.) I grew up in West Virginia so I was just like..... why is a song about WV in an anime movie????? wh.....

This is a Famicom cart AKA the Japanese version.

I know that. I actually own an AV Famicom.
I was referring to the fact that Studio Megaane uses NES carts instead in the illustrations for songs that originated in the west, like his takes on the American Pokemon and Digimon themes. Studio Ghibli may be Japanese, but this song was written and originally performed by Americans. It explicitly refers to West Virginia in the lyrics.
