Not to spoil anything about Lamenter's Gaol, but sometimes when you don't see a way forward, the answer is as simple as turning your head to the side and looking at what's right there.
It’s always paranoia inducing when choices have to be made between NPC’s in these games, so I’d usually end up picking the option that would give me the nicest gear after lol

The Shadow Keep is probably my favourite Legacy Dungeon in all of Elden Ring now, the exterior even is so damn menacing.
