- When I first started with Source 2 I understood how to manipulate meshes but I could never quite get to where I made something that looked like it 'belonged' this video is an attempt to showcase me working through a wall/building and getting it to a place where a player most likely wouldn't even bat and eye at it and would say "this belongs in Counter Strike 2"

Hope it helps!

My map de_Mission released for CS2! It turned out purdy nice I think. If you want to give it a look and see how this wall ended up in the final map see the link below!

nice tutorial and very nice map
how long are u working on this map?
The swearing amplified the feeling of making a map
100%. My keyboard's got bruises. The amount of time I've had to close down the program because I don't know how to fix the problem I'm having at that moment is to much to count on my fingers, feet and balls. Basically more than 22 times ⚽️ ⚽️
Wanted to put out a sort of, walkthrough tutorial on putting together something that looks like it 'belongs' in Counter Strike 2. Source 2 was hard to pick up at first so watching someone just bumble through the process would've been helpful for me, hopefully it will be helpful for you!
Not perfect, would've done a few things slightly different, but its here. Let me know if you have any questions!
See you in de_Mission once I release it for CS2!
I love you bro this is easily one of the best tutorials I´ve seen on anything in my entire life
I have been watching probably over a 100 basic hammer tutorials over the past few weeks. All of them are boring to watch and I find myself skipping around allot. This is the only one that felt like we were just hanging out, learning to map and having fun. Please please continue this, make it a series. It's totaly awesome, thank you 😊
That's awesome to hear! I've learned a ton since this tutorial so I should do another one then haha, thank you!
Please do mate. You have a nack for teaching and the format is excellent. The trend now a days is to make shorter videos, but it does not fit when learning how to map in hammer. I have seen videos titled things like "water in hamer in 29 seconds" but then I'll have to watch and search 20+ videos from different creators to get somewhere. Watching you is so valuable because you get small tips and tricks in between the creation. I, for example, did not know you could hold shift and drag to select😅.
I also watched your camping video in Utah from a year ago. Looked beautiful, made me want to do the same here in Sweden. Have been thinking of going out solo aswell, so the "What's WRONG with you??" comment/reaction made me laugh cause it was just so rude😂 I went backpacking for 14 months solo, that was a bit overkill but I miss that freedom. The backrooms video was fun too!
Looking forward to more uploads❤
@@CS_Sardine Ahh thats awesome! Thanks for checking that vid out as well. I spent some time trying to learn Swedish at one point and would love to visit that country sometime! Jag Alskar Det
The style of these videos is really good - i feel alot of others make assumptions and just crack on with unrealistic structures. The laid back style shown could def be a series you could consider :)
I really enjoyed this! I cross my fingers that you make another one soon! :)
This tutorial covered so many small things I could not figure out on my own, thank you!
Wow man you are a life saver. Taught me a ton of practical mapping knowledge and workflow habits. at 19:34 when you were talking about every single edge and mesh being connected I felt that hard...
Exactly lol
this tutorial was soooo helpful! would love to see more mapping content from you.
Thank you so much for taking us through your process. I had been wanting to try and make my first cs map, and learning from how you transformed and optimized things made hammer make a lot more sense to me than other tutorials i had tried to follow
Perfect! Mission accomplished then :) I'm going to do another one soon now that i'm 3 months deeper so keep an eye out for that one as I've learned a bunch since this vid
Oohhhh this is exactly the type of tutorial content ive been looking for
Nice hope it helps!
The house is so beautiful I can't wait to make this!!! :D
I already had Unity and Hammer ++ mastered so switching to source 2 was really hard because I was like "You can flip faces on a cube?" This tutorial helped a lot
its been a while seen ive seen you and your channel grew alot
"don't be naked please" is what all mappers need to hear
this was great thanks
Thanks very much for this!
Thank you so much! I know all the fundementals but i feel like my ability to detail buildings is a bit lacking. This video is exactly what i am looking for
Thanks for the vid. Hope you will make more :)
Thanks a lot man
I’m a Game Design student and I wish you were my teacher. You’re just oozing personality man. (Sorry for using the word oozing) Please make a million tutorials on level design and level art
Hi, it's me - The guy from the future, watching after CS2's global release. 👋
My first experiment with source 2 mapping ended in disaster when I learnt the hard way not to merge faces randomly everywhere and screw up the geometry lmao
I know Vis has issues with things less than 8 units. Is that on an mash or face level though? like the two height face on the planter. did that end up causing issues?
Hey i love this video man, it just shows all the bits that the other videos dont. Perfect for me, whos just getting into mapping. I just have one question. In my program it doesnt show the tool properties on the left side of the screen. Can you tell me how I activate that window? I´ll try to figure it out, but maybe you can help. Would be awesome! Thank you in advance
Well i got it in View - Toolbars for anyone wondering
thanks dude! ive been trying to find someone who walks through the art pass phase of making a good looking map, ive been wondering what people do between the blockout and the final map.
is it possible to model walls in blender and then import them into the game?
Yessir import with modeldoc

Hey it’s me, guy from the future who finally got CS2. Thanks for the tutorial it was really helpful to help me get started and ditch the Lego blocks from Source 1. I do miss my legos though…
Cheers! I need to do another one of these, in the past two months i've gotten better haha. Still working on the same map and its 2/3rds done. Glad it helped in some way!
Is sometimes better to fuse surfaces to fix n-gons ?
Yes as long as its not still connected to the other surfaces with edge loops in that mesh. If its separate, sure. ALT+N to isolate it as a mesh.
When you're doing the dirt for the planters, you note that your method in the video is the lazy and dirty way, implying that there's a more proper and correct way of doing it. You have no n-gons on the 2nd planter, it's 4 separate quads on a mesh and appears (to me) to be good topology. You're not rendering any faces that will never be visible to the player either. What exactly is done wrong in this scenario? Thank you.
I think I was exceptionally paranoid about every little thing to be honest. I was brute force learning the engine and have since then calmed down to say the least lol
Why do you make an outside skybox instead of making the sky box connect to all your buildings?
I only do that at the very end because buildings change during dev. Also it hardly matters and was a Source 1 thing
Hi friend 😊
thnx for awesome guide! Buy I have an issue. I can create map but if I tried publish map hammer always publish my first map! I deleted my first map but it always publish my first map.. I dont understand.. can you help me!
Have you tried the re-upload button? It should be uploading the latest compiled vpk in your addons game maps folder
thnx for answer I will try@@Dredile
unfortunatelly didnt work still Cs2 publish my first map.. I delete all file my first map but still cs 2 publish it I cant understand.. can you publish 2-3 or more maps
Wait, are you trying to upload a different map? If so you need to create another addon and publish that one
ok thnx ı will try@@Dredile
Rip csgo

Fuck! I was naked when he asked so nicely not to be.
BUSTED
I need someone to explain how exactly the HEV suit actually works.
Well, I dunno that, but I will tell you that a white chocolate raspberry truffle cheesecake is S tier and you should get one if you haven't had one.
20:37
Well actually I am naked
I fuckin knew it

Moar pls
the cs2 tool is so inconsistent. I've had nothing but issues with it bugging out for zero reason since I started with it. I have like 2000+ hours of source hammer and 4000+ hours of gold source. I like some of the features of cs2's editor but it just seems unreliable and like they streamlined things and removed options that they didn't need to.
Hmm, not sure why sorry to hear that! Otherwise I'm a big fan of it after building out a full map to completion. I wouldn't want to go back to Hammer 1
@@Dredile I wonder if maybe it's a config or something that's incorrect? I have no clue. I have a lot of lighting bugs and texture application issues when modifying meshes. I guess i'll stick to watching your videos instead haha
