There's nothing like watching Luke Kelly. I discovered him thanks to TH-cam. And I knew from the first notes he sang that the man was a legend in Irish folk music. It's nothing particular about the man...save his passion. Luke just knows how to sing the song the was meant to be performed. Others do it pretty. Luke did it correctly.

So far I've listened to this video 3 or 4 times now - and there is distinctly a piano in the background, and at least a vocal track during the chorus. And you can tell that Luke Kelly gets lost early the song. You can clearly hear him singing along with his own voice during the chorus, not the mention the instrumental part with the light piano solo! It's old so no big surprise!
Everything Luke Kelly sang turned to gold, as everyone knows, but he definitely didn't or couldn't overshadow the rest of the band. Every single one of them could make any of their peers sound as dull as dishwater. The "original Dubliners", as they're called - this one - just had something magical about them that's never been repeated. They had everything.

So far I've listened to this video 3 or 4 times now - and there is distinctly a piano in the background, and at least a vocal track during the chorus. And you can tell that Luke Kelly gets lost early the song. You can clearly hear him singing along with his own voice during the chorus, not the mention the instrumental part with the light piano solo! It's old so no big surprise!

Everything Luke Kelly sang turned to gold, as everyone knows, but he definitely didn't or couldn't overshadow the rest of the band. Every single one of them could make any of their peers sound as dull as dishwater. The "original Dubliners", as they're called - this one - just had something magical about them that's never been repeated. They had everything.
