  • Disclaimer : I was not paid to speak about this product. The myFirst Camera Insta 2 is an instant camera designed for kids that uses rolls of cheap thermal paper for its prints.
    shop.oaxis.com...
What makes this camera interesting is that it's a thermal paper instant camera.
thermal paper is the same kind of paper that your shopping receipts are made of.
Instant cameras have one thing in common :
you need expensive native photo paper, that only the brand of your camera is selling.( image des Instax et polaroid )
thermal paper rolls are all the same and can cost less than 1 euro and with one roll you can print around 60 photos.
Instax pics cost almost 2 euros an image when one pic printed on thermal paper costs less than 1 cent.
What i really like with this camera if you use the " direct print" button is that you don't check your photo before printing it.
It gave me the same feeling than when I use a polaroid camera... that feeling of not being sure what is going to happen on your final image on paper.
The native lens on the camera is around 50mm but i found a way to get wide-angle shots and macro shot by using blue tack and chepa smartphone lens.
The camera takes 12 MP photos color photos that let say are ... ok for a kid and unusable for anyone else.
Videos are also of a very poor quality.
But it's not a camera to shoot colored pics and share them online, it's a instant camera that let you print your photos on a almost free material.
I think this first version is a great toy for young children, and for me it's a first step in the direction of a high definition black and white instant camera, that prints images fast and for cheap.

This sounds like a really fun little camera! But I'm a bit worried about how well the photos will hold up to time. At least the prints on thermal papers I've used barely last a year or two, depending on their quality. Same goes for the paper recites I've gotten in stores. So it doesn't seem like the best camera to use to capture childhood memories since they won't last long. Plus, if it's low quality paper and you touch it on a hot summer day, you'll have a lovely finger shaped blob on your photo.
