If the color grading is like this because the movie was shot using the 40s or 50s concepts then it is wrong. Color grading in modern movies have been used to convey moods in the movies. Sunny (warm color) depicts hope, happiness and all the good things while dark and grey coloring depucts sorrow darkness gloom uncertainty death war etc. It is on purpose. This movie is a comedy so unless it is a tragic comedy (and I don’t mean Ramsey dying) the color grading is really off.

The movie is just clearly showing indigenous Ghanaian community and when the Europeans came to colonise. It’s just somehow depicting what a typical indigenous Ghanaian society was like and maybe the certain situations they faced. Also the witchcraft and those other things were what the traditional Ghanaian society was practicing before these people came in here and the Europeans wanted it removed at a point so yeah

Every movie has a look so you can’t expect every movie to be bright. Try comparing mad max and into the bad lands and you’d see difference. Davinci does the work and most top movies use that.
Yeahhhh, sheldon you are right. They gave out the storyline of the movie in the trailer so even if you don't watch it, you already know whats going to happen. The trailer should have been very short, like 1min 30secs long with most of the main parts of the movie hidden and with suspense as well. That will push you to buy tickets immediately they are in. But now, you can choose to go or not.
I am not even sure the director and his or her script writer pitched the story. If they did, they wouldn't have put that out. It would have even helped them with the trailer. And as you said, even though post production is expensive they should have taken their time very well.

color grading is extremely important and a very necessary stage. it could that they had the team and a colorist to really pull it through however the time frame they gave would not be favorable for him or the team. a lot of people won't really understand but color grading and color correction is a big-time work.
I agree with kojo at some point because we can’t use a space of juts 1 or two months to get a better pictures and am even surprised that the trailer is out they should’ve taken their time to shoot and get a better post production work and he should have involved some movie directors like pasca etc so they give their thoughts on it. what is Sheldon talking about .. We all watch these western Lore (dragons, wizards, magic etc).. isn't the same .. This is our culture and I'm proud where this is heading .. it's our culture.

I see nothing wrong with the grading, the movie settings depicts old age, and the grading can't be too bright
