"What the %$*# is going on in here on this day?" I could ask the same of the editor that assembled this countdown and yet failed to include Alyssa's most iconic line from it.
My friend hates the show 'that so Raven' for some reason, so when her 30th birthday came around I covered her bedroom in every Raven Symone thing I could find. I did most of it Russian doll style, so I wrote Tara loves Raven in black light ink then covered it with a small picture of Raven then I covered that with a slightly bigger version and so on plus bedding and decor, it cost some money but I think birthdays are important to celebrate
The Leslie Jones impersonation by Heidi n Closet I think was fantastic but Msmojo needs to understand that "A for effort" is an insult, not a compliment and "hysterical" was sarcasm.
I love Patricia Quinn not just getting to her point with a twitter post but a whole arse statement was iconic and I never would've known who she was and glad she got her side out and even said, if she'd come to me and asked me for tips I would've helped her and btw I've never met this person... ooooffff mic drop....
There was also the reaction of Jasmine Masters to Nina Bo'Nina Brown's snatch game from Season 9. In one of her videos, Jasmine said she was honoured but she didn't like the outfit. I actually really liked Nina and also Ru was laughing a lot, she didn't win the challenge but she placed in the top
I keep raving about the MASSIVE talent that has graced the Drag Race Main Stage. How multi-talented even the most mundane queen is. I thought I was a creative person when I started watching all those seasons ago. I bow down to these queens who create their entire look from concept to construction themselves. Then they come out looking beyond exquisite and dance the house down. Or make us belly laugh with their wit. Composers, songwriters, choreographers, skilled dancers, costume design and construction, makeup artistry of movie studio quality, wig design and making. Then add the ability to entertain folks and some stage presence. So talented!
This is such a sweet comment, you don't often find people reflecting on how multi-talented so many of the queens are (especially compared to us everyday folk)!
It's truly sad that both of Jinkx's legendary performances of Edie/Judy came long after their deaths It would have ben epic to see what Judy would have said about that camera business LOL. Anyone know if Liza or Lorna publicly commented on it?
Jinkx. Uncanny. Little Edie. I forgot it was Jinkx when she did Natasha Leone. Yeah, I was pretty stoned but it was a surreal moment. I'm not THAT ripped, Jinkx is THAT GOOD. Judy Garland. Bendela, Trinity--some of these have been true works of artistic genius.
The problem with Snatch Game is so many people are from instagram or reality shows specific only to America with very little international reach, if at all. I also take umbrage with the lack of focusing in on the queen's relationship with the person they're imitating on the episode. I want to know why they pick who they pick, what their history with the person is, how they plan to perform and improv. The irony is this is just another challenge, but has become bigger than Drag Race itself that it honestly should be its own show and...dare I say it...open to more than just drag queens?
I've worshipped Patricia Quinn since the day I first saw _The Rocky Horror Picture Show,_ but I have to say I was SO disappointed with her reaction to Aiden Zhane. As with any figure spoofed by an impersonation, there's always a risk that you'll offend someone or embellish the character too much. But like a roast, the celebrity also has to look at it from an objective point of view. Please understand that I'm not defending Aiden's performance; though I thought her appearance was spot-on, it was appallingly poor with no attempt at Quinn's British accent and went so far as to suggest Quinn had a drug problem. All of which aren't flattering. There are appropriate ways to convey one's disappointment at a poor or offensive impression, but Patricia Quinn's statement on her appearance in _Snatch Game_ was downright cruel. Aiden spoke of having met Quinn some years earlier while working on a live RHPS event. Aiden _did not_ suggest they were friends or make any grand allusions to anything more than Quinn having had breakfast with the organization's team. Patricia Quinn refused any suggestion that she'd ever met "this deeply unfunny person" and that she hoped that she would never be "associated with this TV show again." I need to admit the interactions between Aiden Zhane and fellow contestant Brita Filter really pi$$ed me off throughout the season and I sympathized a lot with Aiden, having been cast on the show with little experience outside her self-identification as a "bedroom queen" that had minimal exposure to professional drag. The loud-mouthed Brita had it out for Aiden from the moment they arrived in the werkroom and though one of my first impressions of the season's cast was that Brita would be a front-runner, she only proved herself to be a bully. And being a bully on a television show in which every single contestant and a good percentage of those watching at home were likely bullied in their teenage years, Brita's behavior was disgusting. Even Leslie Jones herself called her out on it and instead of responding with a gracious commitment to consider the criticism, Brita only doubled down. And though she would be the one to send Aiden home only slightly less obscure than when she arrived, Brita's mouth won her no fans and, like me, may have even turned some fans against her. The one-two punch delivered first by Brita's constant condescension only to be followed by the unnecessarily harsh comments from someone all _Rocky Horror_ fans have a deep love for felt, for lack of a better word, triggering. Though very much untrue, there's a generalization that every drag queen in America wants to be on _RuPaul's Drag Race._ What _is_ true is that being cast on the show is akin to finding one of the Golden Tickets inside one of Willy Wonka's chocolate bars. If it doesn't destroy you, one phone call can change your life dramatically, making millionnaires out of queens who for so long danced on bars for single dollar bills tucked down their bra; queens whose families never thought they'd amount to much if they tried to make a living in drag. I don't know Aiden Zhane. I've never spoken with them. But I know that if I had gone on a hugely successful international television series only to be dismissed as the "black sheep" and kicked around by a room full of other drag queens who knew perfectly well how awful it feels to be the outcast would have been difficult enough to disillusion myself. I know how uncomfortable it is to be the only one in a room full of pageant queens without a crown. Then, to have the longtime love one has for their favorite movie - and one of those most influential films in the LGBTQ/drag community - tainted with such a shockingly harsh reaction from one of the stars of that film being read all over the world, how the hell does one move on after such an experience? While writing this comment, I knew full well that few others would come to Aiden's defense along with me if this thead spawns the discussion it's been overdue for. Yes, the contestants on _Drag Race_ are required to submit for psychological testing prior to them being cast on the show because they want to ensure each of them can handle the overwhelming experience of not only competing in such a fast-paced and exhausting test of their talents, but moreso the wrath of what's come to be known as the most vicious fan base in reality television. From Tyra Sanchez to Princess Poppy, it's destroyed more than one talented artist. That's why it's so important to try to put these contestants and their experiences into perspective. Too many people forget that these are real people that have each gone through their own personal versions of hell _before_ walking into that room. It's been stated in many articles and books that RuPaul declined World of Wonder's many offers to launch a reality competition for drag queens. Why? RuPaul Charles didn't want to put anybody through anything that could negatively impact them. It would contradict the famous message she's been pushing for years: If you can't love yourself how in the hell are you going to love somebody else? All this considered, perhaps the more important question is this: How in the hell can you love yourself when it seems you can't get love from anybody else?
