Ellie and Aster were crushing on each other since day 1. The longing, the intense look, the shy nervous smiles, keeping their guards on and then all came crashing down at the hotspring. Ellie being bold and finally kissing Aster, and Aster's million dollar 1000 watt smile after getting kissed by Ellie. It took Paul to bring these two closer and to their original true self and in return Paul found himself. I wonder why the director being amazingly awesome at her craft took 16 years to bring another masterpiece? Alice Wu should direct more and bring us good cinema to cherish. I have watched this movie 100 times on repeat and still cannot get over Aster and Ellie :D
What i really liked about this movie, was how it was obvious for most of it that aster liked ellie too. The scene in the bathroom, the way she looks at her in the hall, and the part in the hot spring makes it so obvious that Ellie's feelings were not one sided... Great edit too btw!
