Decluttering your vanity area and beauty product stash is a great place to start. Your vanity should be an area of relaxation and enjoyment. I have experienced both simplicity and being over stocked with material possessions and let me tell you, less is MORE! It's especially difficult to maintain self discipline within the beauty community, since we have the pleasure of seeing all the latest and greatest new products every time we click onto YT. However, I have re-focused on my priorities and they don't include... buying new stuff continuously.

I don’t know why, but whenever I am bored or need inspiration, I always come back to these videos and binge watch them. It is so fun seeing how far you have come in your decluttering journey and I hope to see you do more updated organization videos after your most recent minimalism challenge.

it's refreshing to see a beauty channel that promotes decluttering rather than collecting. I myself have a problem and extensive collection of cosmetics and other and am purging too. it was encouraging to see you take us along while you went thru your stuff. damn boxes and back-ups curse! +nakedcowgirl I also stopped shopping at Sephora and other stores for a while since I have too much make-up and creams. I need absolutely nothing new right now, and don't even attempt to go into these stores just in case I find a deal and use that as an excuse for getting more things I don't need.

There are several things on ways to de-clutter easily
Give yourself 5 minutes every day to de-clutter
Give away something each day
Fill up a trash bag today!
Make a list of what to do each day this week.
Get four bags and sort everything into trash, give away, keep, or relocate.

Hoarders is defiitely a good show to watch if you need motivation to declutter. XD I know I always go on a cleaning spree after I watch an episode.

I loved this! you were so funny when you said....I love boxes....I thought to myself wow I love paper like pretty notepads without any plans to write in them.... I don't know why I just love pretty notepads....you inspired me to do a little decluttering myself

I can never throw away boxes or like bags I get from places that aren't grocery stores. I just love boxes and everything I can put in them because I have a small room so boxes are my best friends lol and same thing with bags; they're kind of like a back up if I have a few things I don't have room (or a box) for yet, then I put things in those until I get another cute box from Ross lol

this is resonating so much with me. i have tons of makeup bags and samples too. i love boxes to store stuff (most of mine sit empty). i think i'm starting to get used to the idea that i really should let go of a lot of the clutter in my life.

Donating these samples and things would be greatly appreciated at the local Cancer Center as well as the women's shelter. Gals with cancer really love anything that helps them to feel more feminine during chemo treatments. Donating is a wonderful idea, no matter where you take them.

Hello Christine, just dropping a line to thank you for your videos. I have been a subscriber since 2008 and this was the first video i ever saw. Since then you have helped me to let go of items i dont use, get a better diet, stronger nails, smart packing for a trip...and most of all you have helped me keeping my mind off things like my mom being sick for 4 years (she passed in 2012). Never wrote you to say thank you for your videos. You have always been a true down to earth person, after so many years that i have been following your channel it is very clear what a wonderful inspiering person you are. You helped and still helps me overcome many challenges. Thank you so much :)

Always when I get a sample, I use it immediately so that its gone soon :) I think thats a good way to not collect so much and even save money
I made the mistake of using a sample after its expiry date and it felt like my face was on fire! I put them in a guest basket now, and if I don't have anyone coming to visit I always use them up.
It's so refreshing to see somebody sorting through stuff and deciding to gift things to a shelter instead of just throwing them away. I hope you really made a few peoples day with them all :)
Sometimes I see something in the store like a gorgeous palette of eye shadow browns, taupes and mauves. This feeling rushes in that I need to buy this because it will offer all the looks I want. I swear this will be my go-to shadow collection. I get home and realize I already have something like this. LOL So my tip: before shopping try to take a quickie tour of what you already own if you know what you plan on buying. I usually write stuff down on a list that catch my attention or I think I want to invest. Then I wait. No impulse buys except for food. :) I try to enjoy the concept of browsing. I don't buy everything just because I see it and like it. I admire stuff. Over time most of the items drop off and I realize I didn't need it. Cleaning and reorganizing like this post on clutter pushes me back to enjoy the things I already have. Another tip is using fishing tackle boxes to hold makeup and jewelry. Easy to pick up and go and easy to keep in check what I own. I can't just toss it into the closet with tons of room. Just this little (or semi-large) tackle box that only fits so much until it won't close.
I've been watching your videos for years and I keep coming back to them. They're such good motivation! I'll be watching say, this one, just sitting down doing nothing then I'm compelled to get up and declutter immediately. I love your crystal collection too, showing that mindfully collecting is not necessarily the enemy of simplicity. You've come so far and it's so inspiring.

Donating to a women's shelter or one of the programs that help women get back into the workforce after a tough time in their lives....what a great idea! Thank you. I literally just this morning put a ban on non essential shopping for myself...of any kind & I'm currently doing a household purge myself...so I am soo appreciating this video!!...♥...Jackie

I think it's so awesome that you donated these to a women's shelter! I volunteer at various different shelters where I live and there is such a need for any beauty items. Another great place to donate samples like these would be to a local organization that helps women get jobs. They help them with job applications, resumes, interview skills and also with getting professional outfits/shoes/purses etc. Local organizations will donate hair cutting services to these ladies and sometimes even make up lessons. Another great thing to donate to battered women's/homeless women's shelters are all of those hotel samples we all seem to come home with, but barely ever use. Homeless shelters are also in need of empty prescription pill bottles, empty film canisters and empty sample bottles...that way, they can take full size products that are donated to them and make individual size amounts for all the women! I am sure you love having the extra space and don't you just LOVE being less cluttered???
Women in shelters can really use a makeup bag or even a purse. They usually use a plastic garbage bag.

It's so refreshing to watch a 'beauty guru' who's setting a better example, that having more stuff will not make you happier. I started trying to live a more simple life this past year so I love loooove this. Also, organizing doesn't mean less stress, because it's still things you have to worry about/maintain. Getting rid of things equals less stress.
I love beauty and makeup etc. too but do I need/use everything?! Nope! Thank you for helping me set a good example for my daughter.
I know this is an old video but a tip for anyone that gets lots of samples, I keep mine on my bathroom counter in a clear apothecary jar so I'm reminded to use them. That a saying no to the samples you get from Ulta and Sephora shipping.

I do that. My sister loves to use them when she visits and she knows she doesn't have to pack toiletries.

Norm Tresadern I totally agree! I'm in the process of getting rid of a lot of my stuff and redecorating my room, and I feel so overwhelmed. It seems like a daunting task, but if she can do it, I can too with perseverance :)

yes it can be VERY overwhelming. it is for me. i have to take breaks and go outside for a walk or drive. i cant believe the things i have donated, and thrown away. only after a week have i actually started seeing a difference. just keep going its well worth it :)

As odd as it is to watch someone go through her stuff, I have to admit that this is helpful to me. I need to see someone modeling the behavior of tossing perfectly good stuff out. Hearing your thought process unfold, with easy-going, unhurried but focused decision-making was really useful to me. I know to some extent that watching you do it may be an opportunity for avoidance for me, but I am hopeful that seeing you do it may inspire me. Watching hoarders is not helpful because I can just say "Well, I am not an official hoarder." but I agree with your Less Stuff, Less Stress! I will add; and Happier Me.

Your videos are a breath of fresh air. I've watched organizing videos on yt but most are just organized hoarding. And the beauty gurus just promote endless consumerism (I can see how this happens, that is the climate in the beauty community.) By simplifying you will definitely bring a smile to a recipient's face while adding to the quality of your own life. I also deeply respect what you've overcome in your life and the life you've created for yourself and Michael.

I HOARD 'gift with purchase' make-up with a PURPOSE! Every Christmas, I fill make-up bags with face, eye, lip stuff/care & give them to the women's shelter. If there's a fire in the area I make little 'gift bags' for ladies who may have 'lost' everything. Nothing is old or damaged b/c I give it away so fast! I do it anonymously as a VERY TRUSTED friend does the 'delivery'.

You are an angel, claudiasmemaw! Our shelter often had a package at our door with goodies from people who cared about our residents. I will always remember those anonymous donations, especially children's stuffed toys and books. One woman even sent us a monthly anonymous donation earmarked for buying food. I met her years later at a ladies' auxiliary group when she revealed herself to be that anon person. We became quite good friends. You may think it's just a small thing, but your donation often brightens up a day of a woman who carry a great burden. To this day I still have fond memories of those happy moments.

Great process and WONDERFUL that you are donating items to such a great group of women! I know you have done that before and I also know that they will appreciate the pampering. It helps alot to know that someone cares and thinks about you when you are in a shelter.

Addressing the issue this way leads nowhere...before working on getting rid of stuff we have to work on NOT acquring them first. Or else in two years time you still have to throw away or donate stuff again... this is not free stuff...everything costs and consumes our resources.. some we pay with hard earned money. How do we stop the accumulation habit?

Everyone on YT should watch this video. I see a lot of You tubers that like to buy the latest of everything but it has to accumulate big time. I just went through my stuff I don't use anymore and gave it away. And I do that once a year. I always have tried to stay with the motto, less is more.

I am so impressed : A beauty guru who being responsible with her money, time and space in her home. There is so much accepted and encouraged beauty product "hoarding" in the beauty guru community. I'm glad someone finally decided to be honest and declutter their life. Use what you need and give the rest away. I do not trust bg who are constantly promoting different products that it's obvious they are not really using the products. I LOVED this video!
