My favorite movie was THE LONGEST YARD. His 1974 version was so much better than the crap Adam Sandler starred in. But at least Burt was given a part in the movie. I also liked THE END

I liked that movie too, The End with Dom Delouise. Even thought it was a light comedy farce, it was still pretty entertaining.

Burt and Tommy Anderson (down in Burt's area) tried to help
me get a script to the great songwriter Paul Williams. Burt was a class act.

Excellent bio, but left out a tv series called Dan August. He played a detective- and he was great. It was cancelled after 1 or 2 seasons. I'm hoping to see it show up on a streaming platform.. This preceded Deliverance - which was really his best film.

Sorry to hear he lost alot of money in bad investments. I read that he said he regretted marrying Loni Anderson, because she ended up spending alot of his money. I always thought he was very good actor. What a pompous jerk Marlon Brando was to Reynolds, for making that insulting comment to him after he shook his hand and complemented him as an actor.

He never came across as a narcissist. He could get a little too cocky, but he had a great sense of humor, and didn't come across as being arrogant.

I think that his two best movies he ever made are his first and last movie Deliverance his first movie and his last movie The last Movie Star the last one I have watched 2 times and every time I have cried I believe he should have gotten the Academy award for The last Movie Star it's that good. He's one of the movie stars that doesn't get enough credit for his career or his movies the man deserves more respect for the effects he had on my generation I'm a Gen Xer and goddamn proud of it and I have no problem admitting to shedding tears.

Both of parents knew Burt (AKA "Buddy") and worked in plays he directed at the Lake Worth Playhouse back around '61-'62. My Dad won the 1st Burt Reynolds scholarship in 1962 with Burt and Watson B Duncan (who Burt and Monte Marham apprenticed under).
Years earlier, in the mid 1950's, my mom's friend came over and begged my mom to walk with her up the street to the local ice cream shop to see the new "hunk" that was working there. It was indeed Burt Reynolds when he was attending Palm Beach High. At that time, Mom said "Buddy looked like Marlon Brando in the movie The Wild One's...black leather jacket." Mom thought he was a "greaser" as they called them then.
Years later when my parents got to know him, they always said Burt had a natural "knack" for comedy. I met him briefly around 1977 (he had a beard then) and could have cared less at the time LOL. In high school, my band had the good fortune to attend the Burt Reynolds Theatre (long gone now) in Jupiter where Burt had his ranch. A group of us were hanging around the lobby and chatting it up with this elderly lady who was a real riot. We asked her named and she said, "oh I'm Mrs. Reynolds." Burt's Mom.
