This is so true. I have taken opiates for years for my RSD pain. I also lift weights, and am into body building. I notice I have gotten more flabby and less tight and muscular, before opiates, I was leaner, had more energy and sex drive. I also can't perform well. I am finding I need less pain meds buy it's hard to stop because of dependence. I know my body will better, and my physical relationship will be better, but it's hard to get back to normal. It's sad.

I suffer from crippling chronic pain due to a rare genetic condition.
So I was prescribed opioids since I'm 16yo (almost 21 now) right in the middle of puberty and nobody had the idea to watch my hormone levels til now.
I have lower testosterone than a healthy woman as a guy and my developement stopped right there.
Kinda babyfacish, no beard, no sex drive at all, menopausal symptoms but at least most other things were already developed. And don't get me started on side effects!
So now I'm about to get off of this shit and replace it with another painkiller that won't mess up my hormones that bad with another pain therapist.
Man, I wish, I'd never started taking this shit! It caused more problems than it fixed!
My husband's testosterone levels were so low, he couldn't maintain an erection at all. That was devastating to him, and to me too. Thanks for getting this information out there!

Working out will get your testosterone going again. Squats release the most testosterone. The larger the muscles the more released typically.

I've been searching for months as to why opiates block or destroy testosterone?! What is it doing to the receptors??
I think the testosterone is there, however while on opiates your brain releases endorphins and therefore is "satisfied" in that sense.

***** I have a lot of experience with this personally and I really think (and will find out soon) if getting your T levels raised through the right meds while still on opiates (suboxone for me) will make withdrawal easier. I have many friends who had opiate addictions and now on subs and ALL OF US have testosterone issues. Full on TRT would not be the way to go though, there are other drugs that make the testes produce more of their own T and they would be more suited to this situation. Arimidex, clomid, nolvadex, and even some herbs like Bulgarian tribulus, fenugreek, and tongkat ali can help as well. Even supplementing with Vit D, E, C, zinc, magnesium, selenium, fish oil, and N-acetyl cysteine can all help. One would have to do their research first though.

After I started watching TH-cam videos about what its actually doing inside the body I almost felt sick.
It turned Me off it for good.
Its done so much damage that its ruined my life.
I think they say after about 2 - 3 Months the Body no longer craves it.
I started watching lots of TH-cam videos about nutrition and such which has opened up so many avenues that were previously blocked by taking this hideous drug.
One word I never forget they mention in the videos is brain fog which is exactly how I feel this drug dictates and demoralizes Humans.
After coming off it I feel like a huge curtain is lifted with such clear , clean mental clarity.
I sincerely hope that You managed to stay away from it.
how did you manage the t while on subs and did you succeed
@@TheMatrixgod the biggest thing is going to be not overusing the sub, being active, and getting enough sleep. After that you just need to make sure you are eating a healthy diet for the most part. Overeating is no good for T levels. Especially on sub. So basically it's about living a healthy life. If all that is in order and your T is still low, then you can try the prescription drugs or supplements I mentioned above. So in short, it's definitely possible to have healthy T levels on sub. But if you're not dialed in, your levels will drop.
I’m on methadone treatment and after 3 months I felt so blahhh. So the doc got my blood work from the lab and my test was really low. I got the gel and started it. I really hope that my body can produce its own after I’m done MMT :/

its true sir iam from india and taking buperonorph for around 6 years till now so i have the same problem that you mention sir .iam on withdrawl i stop taking for around a week and i get premature ejaculation on its own whether iam sleping or thinking something thats weird for me because i never had that before in opiade condition when i stop taking this for a week i get wet in daily for 7 days iam very afraid...
hey ryan! while using i had blood work and done and my testosterone level was 847! extremely high and i just hope it doesn't go higher, lol. the sex drive thing is true but when having sex you seem to be able to last all night once you start. is that also attributed to the opiate usage? let me know if you can, thanks. dave
well the stamina thing was when i was using, since quitting i have been celibate, not by choice though, lol.

Its like that in the beginning then after years longterm use it goes the opposite direction. Yes opiates initially you last for an hour or more.

Suboxone is even worse
I was on HEAVY meds before I got back surgery. My wife isn't very sexual and even she was telling me "why don't you want to have sex anymore?" Opiates DEFINITELY lowers your testosterone.
I had no idea opiates and buprenorphine affected my test levels! I went YEARS without knowing this and eventually had to be put on TRT because subutex killed my test to under 100! Its now affected my fertility massively, subs saved my life but it has major downsides!

Yes it goes crazy. I’m 37 and a lifelong opiate addict. Everything he says is true. Suboxone messes with your test even more than methadone or heroin. I think I have killed my shit. I have been weening down on my subs and still nothing. So I started trt

Ahit your telling me, I haven't had sex with my girl for more then 2 years and I've been on a 3.5 year run. There was a time I didn't get hard for 6 months it's crazy. I feel u about the wet dreams too

All he is saying is true, it all comes back to you. it may take a little time but it will. I met the Love of my life and the first time we were together worried me. I did not know what would happen but everything fell in to place and some times I fell like I'm 20 again. I'm gonna be 49 in October. All I can say is life does get better, much better !! especially if you have some one to share it with. so don't worry and work on your self and injoy life self & be happy !!! 😊

rob10564 I believe that comes from within. I had no self confidence on subs. When you are confident it is an attractive energy to all people.
Could be that your mind was so preoccupied with the opiates that you really didn't notice. The opiates keep my mind so wide open that I don't notice shit. Weaning off now and it feels so good.

After 10 years on Buprenorphine I suspected my Testosterone was low. I had it checked and sure enough it was the only red flag in my blood work. The chances of that being due to anything else is minimal. Not to get too personal but my gonads are large, my father is 79 and has the drive of a 30 year old, my older brother is the same. Men need to know this because it feels like being neutered and put out to pasture and likely nobody will tell them Suboxone/Buprenorphine causes this. Ive noticed Sub Drs like to prescribe SSRIs with the buprenorphine but that masks the real problem. If you're on long acting opiate antagonist or partial agonists have your testosterone checked by a professional.
Have you tried TRT? If so, did it help your testosterone and libido? I have been prescribed oxycodone for my scoliosis related chronic pain for a few months now and I my libido is getting worse and worse. I now struggle to even get hard. I'm only 17 and I will probably be on opiates for life. I don't wanna be basically asexual for the rest of my life, but at the same time, the constant pain is unbearable. If not TRT, is there anything else that can help?
@@n6rt9s I had my PCP check my T levels and now I'm waiting on my Urologist appointment. It sure doesn't hurt to start with your general practitioner and go from there or straight to a endocrinologist or urologist. Good Luck

Totally normal bro. I'll shoot off at the slightest touch when I first come off opiates. Whack off a LOT. It will help to bring your stamina up before you wanna try it out on the real thing. If u know ur gonna get some arse, release the bullet from the chamber beforehand as well. Otherwise your going to have some embarrassing explaining to do ;)

I know many people have opioid depondancy. Most of them have never quit. Most of them have bone deterioration and organ break down. Withdrawals are the sign! I was shot and given only 1 week of vicadin when I was released from hospital. I have good friend that a engine fell on his shoulder and it destroyed his upper body. He tried pain killers but his body didn’t work right. He self healed is did. I had a stroke 2 years ago and have only used aspirin and FAITH IN GOD..Having opioid addiction is same exact thing as having heroine addiction. You have to feed it every day no matter. I have friends in methadone clinics and their bodies are shutting down from the chemical effects from opiod destruction..

Been stuck on low dose suboxone for a very long time. I just CAN NOT seem to kick it for good. Got started on TRT a month ago, and I'm feeling much better. I am really scared I'll get stuck on both, but I have no,other options! I'm stuck hardcore!

@@TheMatrixgod everyone’s body chemistry is different and so they respond differently to compounds whether those be opiates, trt, etc. Especially true for you if you’re saying your were at higher doses for a longer period. I took low doses of pain meds for a few years and destroyed my T. I just didn’t realize it. I’d been sober for 3 years and still felt like death. Got checked and free t was at 35! Tested again because doc thought it was an bad test. Nope, even lower. And this was while I was fairly young. About 35. TRT makes me feel great. I’m in shape. And it’s cheap. Like $60/mo with appointments and meds. Way cheaper than an opiate or drinking habit.
Wrong. Not everyone is the same as you. I’m on 1 mg of suboxone and I have the testosterone level of an 80 year old woman. I’m only 35.
