I had this same problem, simply just start using ur brain. It sounds easier said than done bc it is. When your not locked in you start to do stupid things that cause u to loose eg. Chasing a guy to his whole team cuz ur hungry for one kill.

The comments about ground war hurt my soul. MW19 ground war was fucking phenomenal. Then MW2 and MW3 its just straight cheeks an its because of the maps. The maps are awful and play awful. Such a good game mode though, probably because I was a big battlefield 3 and battlefield 4 player back in the day! (Edit: Also I'd love to see some destiny gameplay if you are enjoying it, its such a good game)
