    I can imagine your dad not being particulary impressed with you repairing the game console stuff due to the lack of interest in such things. But now - I bet he's going to be pretty happy and proud :D His loud alarm clock works again! I could watch this all day every day :D

    What a nice alarm clock! I didn't even know a battery operated alarm clock could have a physical bell! Very nice fix also!

    another great video Vince. It goes to show that if you take care of your things and have patience you can continue to use them for a long time and as you said it helps reduce our waste.

    Vince you can use pure lemon juice and a tad of salt as alternative to clean corrosion from alkaline batteries and copper tarnish.

    I have had my clockwork alarm clock apart as it was losing time. To cut a long story short, I found by removing the hand that counts the seconds the clock seems to be maintaining the correct time. I bought the clock at a charity shop for £2.

    Hi Vince. Love your vids. I have recently purchased a 3d printer from Amazon for £118. Its a build it yourself 3d printer and is as basic as it can be. It takes about 5 hours to build and you can then print out upgrades for the 3d printer. I would be interested in seeing how you upgrade the printer and also your thought process regarding solving the issues to get a good print. I have mine pretty tuned in now, but it did take about £30 more and multiple printing upgrades. At the end of it you would have a machine to print missing or broken parts for your series.

    • @Mymatevince
      @Mymatevince  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much :-) I do need to set aside some time to look into a 3D printer. I looked into them years ago when they were £600 and I didn't like the finished result of the printing very much but now it really would be useful for this 'trying to fix' series. If I am honest I think the learning curve might be a bit much at this moment in time as I have a lot on....but when I have a bit more time then the price will come down and the quality will go up and then I can get myself one. I love the way you buy a cheap printer and then print out the upgrades to make it into a better printer....brilliant :-)

    • @DEmma1972
      @DEmma1972 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Mymatevince Hi. Thanks for your reply. I doubt they will get much cheaper than what I payed. The sum of the parts appears to be more than what I payed. When you have printed the new parts you should be able to get something that can compete with any mid range printer. My printer is running pretty much 12 hours a day and I am having a ton of fun. Before purchasing my printer I had zero experience with 3d printing. Because I have built it from parts I have a better understanding of how it works and what to do if something isnt quite right which is something I wouldnt be able understand if I bought a pre made complete 3d printer

    • @Mymatevince
      @Mymatevince  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is the good thing about building something yourself, you end up understanding so much more and are not scared to fix it yourself when something goes wrong. Has you printer got a brand name so I can take a look at it on Amazon :-)

      @@Mymatevince It is an Anet A8. There are multiple variations as sellers try to out sell each other. This is a link to the 1 I got:
      www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07GDBPHTX
      There are many like it.
      Seems like the cheapest same version on Amazon is now about £129 although I have seen something very similar on Ebay for £89 the day after I ordered mine. I suppose the cheaper you go then the more you would have to do to get it tuned in. There are many after market parts for this type of printer and you could actually buy every single part separately and build it to your own spec. I would still think its cheaper to buy it as a kit and then upgrade as required.
      I could give advice on upgrades, but that would take away a lot of your fun. I have spent hours going through TH-cam seeing what others have done. It is very interesting to see that this printer can out perform many more expensive 3d printers and the Anet does have a strong following.

    What's the model number of that clock and how recent is it? I notice when the second hand moves it doesn't do the usual stepped movement you see on battery powered analogue clocks, so I presume it doesn't make the usual ticking noise. What kind of sound does the clock make as the second hand moves?

    I disassembled my Seiko clock to measure the dimension of the DC motor, since it wasn't working and I want to buy a new one. And somehow after reassembling it, the alarm work again.
    PS: Do you know what kind of light does the Seiko clock use? and how to replace it? The only problem with my clock is the lamp doesn't work anymore.

  • @enda320
    @enda320 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I guess it must have been wired up as one cell runs the clock, and all 3 are used for the sounders. There must have been some power the clock was working, even if the rest didn't.

    Yo Vince if there is a John Pye auctions near you, you should try them
    they have action sites up and down the country and they sell second hand
    and catalogue returns like xbox's pc's drills and loads of other
    electrical crap and furniture. I like buying faulty or damaged pc's and
    laptops from there it is a weird passion i have to fix them but i was
    thinking to my self when i was there yesterday that Vince would probably
    love this place a warehouse full of electronic stuff that needs fixing i
    have a ball every time i see a faulty pc or laptop people there now
    even know me by name coz i'm there every week, Look them up maybe there
    is one near you to try out they are a treasure trove for some one like
    you and i.

    • @JamieWilliamsJamminJamie
      @JamieWilliamsJamminJamie 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No problem mate glad i could help and i literally just bought 5 pc's from there last week for £25.26p that was VAT included and none of them worked due to faulty power supply's i found out so i tested the rest of the components and they all checked out A OK so i will replace the power supply's and sell them on for a small profit. I got to take the pc's apart and tinker with them and clean them up my favorite part, Nothing more satisfying then buying something faulty and fixing it and making a profit at the same time.
      I hope you check them out trust me mate you will not regret it and i can't wait for the next video bye
