Hi Antti, thanks for letting me know. This looks like a similar lens, and is only 1/3 the price of the one I used: a.co/6JmRuiS Also, try searching for "18x telephoto lens mobile" on Amazon, and look for any that show a bracket mounting the lens to the phone, NOT a clip-on lens.
Hi! Great Video Demo! I think I recently saw the same video Jonathan Corpuz (who commented earlier) saw where this dude failed to get a similar if not the same telephoto lens mounted onto his phone to begin a review. I saw you "wiggle" the setup at frame 1:54 and wondered if I could place a simple round rubber spacer-bushing-washer-thingy right there in between that approx 1/16 to 1/8 inch space I'm seeing in your video, to help stop the wiggle? I'm already thinking of adding a thin soft foam strip cushion, onto the bracket that "grabs hold" onto the phone to further keep it from sliding around. Your thoughts would be most welcomed!
Thanks Jonathan, I appreciate it! It's tricky and you'll probably find what works best for you as far as mounting it, but with a little practice you get the hang of it.
It's so unfair how channels like that have millions of subscribers yet deliver such poor content, and channels like this one deliver excellent reviews but only have a few subscribers.
What a great compliment--thanks so much, Eric. My channel is just getting started so I hope to get more subscribers as time goes on. Spread the word :)
Hi Bastian Experience, I used a pair of solar eclipse viewing glasses. They are the standard paper-frame kind that you wear on your face. I placed the glasses film in between the camera lens and the telephoto lens. You can see them dangling off the side of the phone at the beginning of the video.
The Bastian Experience that's great! You may already know this but just in case for the other viewers out there--you will not need any solar glasses to take photos of the lunar eclipse. You only need those to take photos of the sun. But definitely plan on having a full sized tripod handy. :)
Hi John, my apologies for getting to reply a bit late. I know many folks were eager to try this lens out for the lunar eclipse this week. I filmed the full moon with it (new video coming up) and it did a GREAT job, I was pretty impressed. Hopefully you were able to use it for the eclipse!
No vas a obtener imágenes Full HD. 6 y último.
Hello bolivarlucho, thanks for the great feedback! I'm attempting to translate it below for those who speak English as well: TRANSLATION Well, gentlemen, I'll tell you my experience with this zoom lens: 1. In itself, it is interesting, and more than one is amazed at the novelty (who would have thought that they are going to create a zoom lens for cell phones?), I am to tell them to believe it, but do not believe the whole story. 2. The bracket does not at all adapt very well to cell phones. Those cell phones that have the curved casing, will have more difficulty that the clip or the zoom lens holder will adapt to the cell phone. 2. It is difficult and requires a lot of "skill" and patience to align the lens with the lens of the cell phone camera. 3. There are lenses that come with a small tripod. It is not easy to position the tripod, due to the enormous weight imbalance caused by the zoom lens, which means that, while finding the ideal position, the lens can be misaligned from the lens of the camera. 4. If you do not have a tripod, you should know that holding it by hand and trying to take pictures is virtually impossible due to the vibrations caused by just holding it by hand. The same happens with high-powered binoculars and telescopes. That's what the tripod is for. 5. The photographs that appear in the advertising how-to videos, are just that: advertising. You will not get Full HD images. 6 and last. Remember that what is shown in advertising, in terms of the increase in images, ie the zoom capacity, is also increased with the zoom of your cell phone, therefore, it is not only what the zoom lens magnifies but also the zoom in your cell phone.
Hi Mel F, I did a moon test last week and was pretty impressed by it. It is not like a telescope where you can see all the small craters and details, but you CAN see the larger features like the color changes. Thank you for your patience as I edit and prep my results for my next video! Hoping to get it online this week.
Yes, there is a focus ring. First, you must set your phone camera's focus setting to manual mode, set the focus to infinity, and then you can use the focus ring on the telephoto lens.
LEO FLIX I tried it out for my next video that I'm making, and it actually worked pretty well. I could see using it as a portrait lens since it does soften the background. Still working on the video but it will be in there!
Hi Leo Flix, I just published my video that shows some test shots using depth of field. Hopefully this will answer your question. Check it out here: th-cam.com/video/apUtL7zW29w/w-d-xo.html
prajwol paudel you can get a tripod like this at Walmart, Best Buy, or any photography store. Try looking up the Targus 58" Camera and Camcorder Tripod, TGT-BK58T. That is a comparable tripod sold by Wal-Mart, and many other brands make similar models.
That is a good idea for doing another video, thanks for the suggestion. This is a normal telephoto lens but not a lens that zooms, so the zoom will only be as powerful as the optical zoom on the camera. Since every camera's optical zoom varies, you will get varied results. I personally found the whole setup to be too shaky for using the camera's zoom while filming video, but it was very effective for shooting stills.
I wondered about that too - the Manufacturer states that it is a zoom lens, but it doesn't seem to zoom? also at least one Ebay seller states that it is for a DSLR which is clearly not the case...
Richard Powles-Brown the lens is a telephoto lens, not a zoom lens. The manufacturer probably calls it a zoom lens because that is a term that people are familiar with. That it "zooms" into the subject, making it appear larger. A zoom lens is technically a lens that goes from one focal length to another... Meaning, you can zoom in and out using just one lens. For example, you might go from 5x to 18 x using a zoom lens, and zoom in and out without having to change the lens. A telephoto lens is a fixed-lens, meaning it has one focal length. This telephoto lens has one setting (18x) and it does not have a zoom function on the lens at all ... Just a focus ring. The correct technical term for this lens is telephoto rather than zoom. And you are correct, this is definitely not a lens for a DSLR camera.
I don't understand the purpose of buying accessories for a smartphone's camera. Its better to purchase a real camera, you get much better images and such camera and accessories will last many many years, then you can sell your camera accessories if you don't use those accessories with out much loss, so other people keeps using those optics to take great photos. Phone accessories are mostly disposable gimmicks that deliver sub par images, just look at that spherical and chromatic aberration!
Not everyone can afford fancy cameras and equipment, and even if you own one, how often do you bother taking it with you? Your phone goes with you wherever you go, and the lenses fit snugly in your pocket. Okay, maybe not the 18x, but still. There are actually lenses now in the 100-200 dollar price range, though, they probably let you take more professional shots if your cell phone camera is good enough.
Why don't people make such great, detailed reviews! Thank you so much!
Thank you so much, Yatindra! I really appreciate it and it's great to know the videos are helpful to you!
How much is the product, and where do you buy it ??
It looks VERY well made. almost like a SiFi prop!
Good review, good lens, Micky Mouse mounting accessories. Maybe next year.
Very cool!
Amazing
Can we use this item for filming?
Wow, this is amazing! Thank's for making this content :)
Hi, great review! From the link I see that they are sold out, what kind of zoom lens would you recommend to buy instead of the one in video?
Hi Antti, thanks for letting me know. This looks like a similar lens, and is only 1/3 the price of the one I used: a.co/6JmRuiS
