You can use a small plastic bag, drop your things in and shake them about that works well and no mess xxxx

Wow! I was searching for a short tutorial to learn how to make aged tape when I found your video. I'm so glad I chose this one. I learned I can use tge alcohol ink i bought for aged tape for so much more! And now, I'll need to find some rub on letters and numbers, too. Using a pencil, instead of the stick, looks so much easier. Thank you!

I love to see how exited you get about things. When I act like that my husband just raises an eyebrow at me and walks away 😂. So you are not alone in your giddiness. I’m glad to see I’m not the only one.

I used the tape technique once for a birthday card that I made for my brother. The card had childhood pics of us together, and I cut down a Manila envelope, and used the aged tape to make it look like it was taped together. I was very proud of the entire project.
I think I learned the tape trick from Nik the Booksmith, but not positive. Caramel was the only alcohol ink that I had for a long time, because I didn't know what else to do with it.
I have other colors now, and I LOVE the idea of dying brads and eyelets, etc.
    PS...
When i asked my brother if he got the card, he said something to the effect "Oh, the one you got out of the trash?"🙄
    Brothers!!🤷🏻‍♀️😆😆😆
I did include a note, assuring him that everything was new, and only appeared to be vintage. He was just being a goof.

When I decorate the heads of brads, I stick the brads into the exposed corrugations along the edge of a piece of cardboard. Then you can hold the cardboard or prop it up or brace it between heavy books/weights.

The top strip of your tape with the little spray dots is my favorite. I make little tabs at the end of the tape strips and stick them to a thick piece of acetate. (It was packaging from some product.) I flood the tape with Carmel and Latte inks and then move the acetate around till all the tape is covered. When I stick that on coffee-dyed paper or book pages, it really looks authentically old. 😊

You have the best ideas! You didn’t even think of the eyelets to make them look older. I’m not a big fan of real rust or using cinnamon either but I can certainly see using the alcohol inks. I’m so glad you thought of this. 😊👍🏻👍🏻
Also, I used to work with a few ladies whose name was also Jennifer. So my boss began calling me “Jenn Seven” then Later, “No. 7” for short. 😊🤷🏻‍♀️

Just a note to say that the mask you choose would work to keep from breathing particulates (dust, for example). I don't think it will work for fumes and I think the concern for alcohol ink is fumes. That said, I use alcohol inks a lot and I don't use a mask. I just didn't want inaccurate information to inadvertently get disseminated.

It's so fun to watch you be excited 😊 I prefer to rust things like paper clips, brads, pins, etc., but I use alcohol ink on lots of different tapes and love them! I also like to use a "rusty" color alcohol marker to color my staples. Works great on tiny ones as well as regular ones.... and they look old instead of shiny on my grungy pieces 😊 Great video! I had a flashback moment w/ the safety pins that’d probably be adorable in journals, too. 🧷 The friendship pins w/ little tiny beads on them. What awesome vintage bits and bobs! Love it all. I watched TH use a very small container, can’t remember if it had a lid or he put his hand over top, but just a couple drops of the alcohol ink in it with some round pearl like beads and he swirled it around and the beads were all covered nice and evenly and worked great on his TH-cam. Your idea of the rub ons was a fantastic idea too. Such clever ideas and see now you’re getting into mixed media too….lol.

For someone who doesn’t “do” mixed media, you sure are talented with alcohol ink :-). I’ve never used it myself but now of course I want to try this! I never would have thought you could use rub-ons on metal - that’s fantastic. I had a few ideas: 1) I wonder if you could use sandpaper on the tips of the brads to scuff them a bit for an even more aged/uneven look before staining them with the ink. 2) I wonder if you could use sandpaper or fingernail polish to remove the logos from those little paper clips so you wouldn’t have to use them backward. 3) For inking the tiny hardware, you might be able to contain the mess by putting them all in a paper cup, sprinkle the alcohol ink over them, and use a Q-tip to spread the ink over them & stir them until the ink coats them thoroughly.

Very cool! I love the addition of the glossy dimension added over the rub-ons as once it dries, it'll look like store-bought ones. You can also glue tiny bits of book pages or dried flowers and such before adding the liquid dimension. Stamping with StaZon ink may be easier than using rub-ons if you have a small enough alphabet stamp. Cannot wait to see what you do with medical tape since I ordered a bunch of tanned color this weekend (heard they stick better than washi). I have white ones in my Amazon cart that I think might be useful for book binding and such.
