  • Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis are the best. They made us laugh for 10 glorious years. After their split made us grin for next 20 by ribbing each other. Please note Nothing serious here just good old fashioned ribbing
I do not own distribution to any of these videos.

Words will never describe what these two were. You have to experience them. For those who are curious, give them a look. You won't be sorry. They were the best ever together. They were great apart, but together, like I said, it's indescribable. They were MAGIC!!

Just came across of a Lucy show where Dean was guest staring. He played himself a there was a minute or 2 where Lucy and Dean joke around with their relationship. It was really a funny show including them ribbing their relationship.

Joann Wilderman .. Agree with you I seen many other spots where they each joke about each others. You don't joke about people you don't care about. They truly loved each other and care for each other all along.

Not til Dino’s son passed would they hash it out and Dino would admit his love for Jerry. His son Ricci’s book tells the story of Jerry coming to the funeral incognito, and when someone mentioned it to Dean he got visibly emotional. He later would call Jerry and they would talk for hours.

I had a man who was like a second father to me. I saw him from 1984-1998 and I didn't see him after that because his wife came between us. When I learned of his passing though from pancreatic cancer in 2013, I cried like a baby. I loved that man with all of my heart and he was to this day one of the kindest, gentlest, sweetest men I have ever known and I could talk to him like I never could anyone else. He taught me things about life, about women that he was 100% right about and they will live with me for the rest of my life. Just like Jerry and Dean, the years of separation didnt diminish their love for each other, just like it didnt diminish what me and my friend had. My parents told me before they died about how my friend would call and ask how my life was doing and they both told me I was lucky to have a friend like that in my life and to never forget him. This is one of the biggest differences between Men and Women. Men can form a bond with other that lasts a lifetime and nothing needs to be said, it is naturally there and it is solid. Women can act like the best of friends, but in reality, the closeness isn't truly there. Women do not understand the bond that men have and they get jealous and see it as a threat to their relationship with that man they are with.

could be my reading of it, but it feels like dean’s remarks are jabs where jerry’s are regretful.

I am not sure Emma Goldman. They loved each other a lot! They had different ways of expressing their love and I believe that it might have been one of the reasons why it took them so long to get in touch again. When you love so deeply and you get hurt, it is very hard to put the pieces back together. Jerry was a very emotional guy, Dean was more controlled. Dean felt probably the same feelings of Jerry, but he always kept to himself. He had a different way of coping with his pain. Jerry had no boundaries. He "had "to express his feelings and emotions. However, the love was real from both sides! I love them to pieces

Dean was in pain for a long time but unable to express it. It didn't diminish his love for Jerry, but he was effectively forced to make a decision that meant he might go back east and maybe even be a croupier again...he couldn't take what was happening (and had been) and how his partner was (at the time) not the person he had known. It was painful for both, but Jerry was more vocal. They both weathered the split, though, and are remembered for their incredible talents and all the joy they gave to audiences.
FTR, after the split, Dean made overtures for quite some time to be on friendly terms with Jerry. If an audience or cameras were present, they could laugh and be pals. Yet on the Paramount lot, Jerry--in his golf cart with his name in lights all over it--would duck Dean every time they saw each other. Dean finally asked him to come talk things out. After talking, Dean thought they were friends again and felt good about it bc Jerry agreed that ducking him was immature. Then he just kept doing it. Dean gave up. After Dean Paul's death, they--according to Jerry--spoke on the phone "all the time." Dean even (again, according to Jerry) called him "Preacher" bc Jerry was always telling him to take better care of himself. Lots of love there. And the ribbing was something they did all the time--even leaving lipstick messages on dressing room mirrors when one knew the other would be playing that room soon. I think D addressed his to "Crazy." lol

givethechanceakid Oh, now that makes more sense. This particular song just doesn't seem to go with the well-known bitter feelings between them after the breakup of the act, if Dean HAD been singing it in 1957.
