im 15, new to basketball, my best friend got me into it and ive been playing for 5 months, so my shot and handles have been my main concern and I finally developed a decent 3 point shot, but Its just so hard for me to get past or score on fast defenders, any tips?
Practice your moves like crossovers and understand on what side is the defender leaning towards, then move in the way they aren't leaving towards, now you will have many options ypu can either blow by him or do another crossover and move to the other side, pull up etc.
I'm a coach. If you want to get good, practice the fundamentals. Master them. Don't focus on a lot of crazy crossovers or anything. Focus on progressing in 1. Dribbling drills (1 ball, 2 ball steph curry warmups, Drew Hanlen dribbling series in that order) 2. Shooting mechanics 3. Defense Watch Drew Hanlen for good workouts in those areas. One goal you can try to do is progressing layups. Start with with 10 in a row, and add 5 or 10 more in a row every practice until you get to 100 in a row. Something as simple as that unlocks your game. These are tricks to the trade, secrets of the game. God speed.
Thanks so much my cousin 5ft 4 I'm 5ft 1 we do bets I've been losing to mich money back when I was just starting he wouldn't block me but now I'm better hes 5ft 4 and can jump like 3ft so 8ft to match that I need a 9FT JUMP I ain't got time that would take years to do consistent multiple and everybody at home shorter so can,t practice there this helps

dribble as low as possible, that way you’re quicker
use your teammate, set a screen , play with the screen
