I saw an interview in which Manny said that he didn't want they get closer again (in a romantic way) because that would be a contradiction in Rio's character. It' s like if he loses power in front of Beth if it happens again.
I watched that interview as well and I don't agree with him. Beth and Rio are obviously attracted to each other so why would it be a contradiction if they got closer again?
@@autumnxleaves It is quite obvious that that's Manny's opinion on how Rio should be or should behave...I think that he wants to empower the character he performs but I'm not sure if there's something wrong in showing some kind of vulnerability in Rio by being in love with someone who tried to kill him. The question that pops out for me is if the fact that Beth betrayed him is enough to erase the feelings (love, sexual tension or both) they have for each other.

I think he still cares for her but he feels hurt and betrayed so he tries to punish her by treating her poorly. He's conflicted because he can't help but have feelings for her even though she shot him so he always reminds her what she did and that there's nothing between them - cause he wants to convince himself of that. Also, he needs to understand that she didn't plan to shot him, she was basically forced to do that when he kidnapped her and tried to make her kill Turner, so they're both to blame for what happened.

I think for Rio, that was another betrayal and probably a worse one because as much as Beth loves to talk about herself as a mother, his child means just as much to Rio as hers do to Beth. And it's not like she hasn't spent the entire season trying to kill him, lying to him (which he sees right through but I think she's so used to lying to the likes of Dean who can't tell she's lying however Rio definitely can tell and that probably feels like an insult to his intelligence) and she is so entitled that she's gotten dumber like when she purposefully stole from him as if he wouldn't notice. Rio isn't innocent but a lot of what he does is a reaction to something she did to him first.

But then again, she shot him cause he kidnapped her, and he kidnapped her after she invited him to her house, had sex with him and then kicked him out. Everything is just so messy, I don't even care whose fault it is, I just want them to fix this situation as quickly as possible.

I'm hoping I can get excited again with the show but it might be nearing the end of Good Girls and what they can think to right.

Apparently they're going to get caught in a love triangle with him seeing someone else, linked to his boss. But producers said Beth realises she cant be with him long term romantically. So who knows what's happening
I’m kinda excited and nervous at the same time. Like I’m glad that they said they would move in a different direction in a somewhat positive way. But also, I wish they gave her the other lover in this triangle. We’ve already seen Beth get jealous, I have not seen obvious signs of rio being jealous of dean. (I mean who would?😭) It would be interesting to see, since we barely see him show any emotions that aren’t anger, sarcasm, and flirtation. I kind of expected them to never be endgame, based on the situation at hand, but I hope they don’t completely destroy the relationship and make it boring. Ugh.
If the writers actually think the majority of fans are rooting for Beth then they are way out of touch with this fanbase because she is the one I'm rooting against and not just because of what she's done to Rio or what she's trying to do to him plus the fact that contrary to her claim that he puts everything on her, she takes zero responsibility for the hurt and damage she's caused so many people; I mean who was it that started her own counterfeit operation by conning an innocent girl into making her a printing plate? How about the fact that she then tried to turn the girl's boyfriend into a killer? Also, look what she's done to Stan? He is not ever going to be the same as he was before Beth decided she liked being a criminal and Annie is going to lose Ben when he finds out what his mother's been up to the last few years and if it weren't for Annie's quick actions, Ruby would've been killed because Beth is just that selfish and way too full of herself, what does she think will happen without Rio? She can just keep making counterfeit as if the feds won't have a problem with that since she still hasn't quite accepted that just like Rio, she is no longer a good person who takes her kids to PF Changs but a criminal and if caught, she's basically going away for life.
Thank you SO MUCH for writing this! Everything you said is true, she's no longer a good person and the sooner she realizes it, the better. She needs to understand that she's the only one to blame for what's happening cause she's the one who asked for it in the first place. However, I still can't help rooting for her, but I want her to accept who she is, embrace her new identity and quit wallowing in self pity.
