I was on the dance floor at Space Ibiza during that moment. Absolutely incredible moment! So many people with tears in their eyes at that time. We knew it was all about to end and what a track to hear at that moment.
Great episode guys. Here’s a cool fact for you surrounding this track. Billy Daniel Bunter was actually the first person to ever play this track in a club long before XL picked it up. Eamon gave Dan an acetate of Sweet Harmony while he was mid-set on the decks at Labyrinth, Dalton Lane, London. Dan dropped the track not knowing what it even sounded like and the crowd reaction was huge prompting Eamon to get test presses mate and subsequently getting picked up by XL. They still remain close friends to this day and speak most days on the phone. Amazing track!
I never knew this I was a regular at 12 dalston lane for years billy bunter was great ! Who wants one more , 12 dalton lane rushing through your brain 😂
Thank you, my 20 odd year search is over. I first heard the CeCe Rogers track on a dance compilation cd at a friends. Sadly he lost the cd case so I could never find the artist.
Great shout on the mike skinner loop. Ce ce Rogers' someday was a great tune that made so many greats. Epic tune. We could share so many cool memories feom my days at the aquarium nightclub etc
Best clubbing experience of my life was listening to Kings of Tomorrow - Finally mixed by Erick Morillo at club Bed in Sheffield, 2001 and I can remember nobody wanted the closing tune to end, just shouting encore, encore and Finally coming on! It was one of those special moments you both talk about. My requested sample track is Voodoo Ray by A Guy Called Gerald 🙏
Great episode guys one of my first memories of this is my older brother playing it in his first car. Awesome tune had plenty of other great memories of hearing it in clubs 👌🏻
Always a pleasure watching your videos guys. Random as fook however, a track that takes me back is QFX - Freedom. This was played at my sisters funeral & was her favourite track of all time. I used to babysit her kids when she used to go clubbing back in the nineties and she always came back with her mates with ‘urges’ to clean the house top to bottom with proper rave tunes on 👀 If it wasn’t for her I would never of been introduced to dance music. I could never thank her enough. God bless her soul✌🏼
Played it a ton when it was first released upon XL. It got re-issued also on XL in '95 with new mixes inc a Way Out West remix. Was 18 when it was out first time round though. The piano was a replay as far as I remember. Classic though.
Great episode guys, as always, love the old breakbeat songs. How’s about a Prodigy episode, Smack my bitch up or voodoo people. Would love to see what samples they used.
Didn't get high enough up the charts at the time as it was ahead of its time. But Liquid were one of the pioneers of rave and club dance anthems. I would say Snap, KLF, Bizarre Inc and others were among those pioneers too. As an 18/ 19 Year old hearing all this stuff coming out week after week, it was like a rush to the senses, and everything about it was just brand new, and fresh. Can you remember The Shamen as well, or Cubic 22, 808 State, and Nomad (I wanna give you devotion?) All coming out from the early 90s.
Favourite nineties rave track? 'Valley of the shadows' by Origin Unknown. Stat! Failing that (and probably going back too far) MARRS 'Pump up the volume' or 'Infinity' by Guru Josh :)
I've not listened to it for years and then a Brown Paper Bag cover got sent to me. I'd forgotten how good the original by Roni Size, Reprazent was. Btw, the cover is also great and you should check it out. It's by Toshio Matsuura Group.
Old Pragga Khan!! We discussed that on our Patreon episode! Have you seen our Hey Boy Hey Girl episode? He makes an appearance in that too ‣ th-cam.com/video/U5f3lyaAZFw/w-d-xo.html
First rave rape I ever got had this on Top Buzz at Dreamscape II. Also had Music Takes You by Blame. I still listen to that set regularly.. and no I’m not signing up to patreon
I dont think Liquid sampled the piano. It had to be replayed or got the original tape from Marshall, because the piano isn't isolated anywhere on the cee cee record.
Strings of life all day long, I remember going with me mate to a place in Middlesbrough (Alan Furnleys) with me YTS wage and him bringing out all his latest white labels he's just got in, dropping a few strawberries 🍓 going back and having a session on the DLPs couldn't afford 1210s getting ready and heading out for a full weekend of the chemical generation. Man I miss those days, no knobheads wanting to fight, just a dank little club with like minded people, 💊 up and loved up. Remember seeing Carl Cox in Blazers in boro at 15, totally amazed he was using 3 decks, well until Altern 8 came on and I needed to find me dustmask smeared in Vicks. Shit almost brought a tear to me eye thinking about it. To all you kids out there you had to idea how good the 90s where
