Watagan Creek Trailhead GNW 06092024

We did the GNW section from Watagan Creek Rd to near the Basin Campground. Left home at 7.30am and had trouble finding the right spot for the first car. There’s a matrix of roads and tracks which don’t appear on google or Apple Maps so it’s a bit hard do accurate research beforehand. It was a challenging walk which began and ended with steep climbs with a few in between. We thought we might run out of daylight towards the end and there was some smoke in the air from a planned burn which added to the effort. Felt like something of an achievement in the end. A good one to have ticked off the list.

Another good one but not one for me. I have a great dislike for multiple uphill sections. I'm ok with one or two but this one seemed to have too many undulations

Hi Mark. Thanks for the comment.
Yes I think it is the most technical section of the northern sections of the GNW.
We were getting a bit concerned about whether we were going to make back to the car before dark.
