recently got my grandpas 83 Heritage edition XS650 and started doing some work to it. Seeing your build is inspiring man, truly awesome. Great work

Mine was a 1976XS, blue with white trim. Bought new in 77. Great bike. One of those I wish I had held on to.

So cool you bought one new. I think a lot of us wish we could have all of our toys back.

I like how you are explaining what you are doing not all of us watching are mechanics. The only part I did not like too much is the music lol!!

Hahahha good to know 😂 TH-cam music doesn’t give me too many options on the music. Ideally I’d have some punk rock playing haha. Thanks for the comment

awesome. did I see metal particles on the oil filter ? My 81 Special had a lot of them when I changed oil the first time. I don't want to rebuild if I can help it. What are your plans ?
I gave up on the BS34 carbs and going with the VM34 carbs.
Did you notice a power increase with VM34's ? Anyway thanks for the great video.
Look forward to reading your comments.

      Hey thanks man.
Yeah the secondary oil filter was absolutely filled with crap. Must have just never been touched. I changed that one and the bottom crankcase filter too. Haven’t had any knocks or any issues.
My plans are actually to sell it, it’s a cool bike but I have too many others.
Those mikuni’s were pretty simple to rebuild. One thing I noticed was that the springs for the throttle slides are very strong. You really have to twist to accelerate. Not sure if they’re any better on power, being that this was worked and is actually a 750.

Cool stuff! Yeah this thing sat in a bar for 10 years. It was rough 😂 I hope you can get that thing to free up! Some wd40 and some heat usually work wonders for me. 🤘🏻
