    CSX should make all parties involved (passengers, train crews, locomotive owners, etc.) sign liability wavers and run steam again. Then NS could follow suit and all would be right on the east coast again. Thanks for continuing to dedicate yourselves to keeping the 765 alive FWRHS. I wish the class 1's could find a way to run steam (freight can't sue) that would fit their business models.

      It's the same way out here in the Pacific Northwest with the SP&S 700, the SP 4449, and the OR&N 197. SP&S 700 hasn't run a mainline trip since 2014, and SP 4449 hasn't run a mainline trip since early 2018. OR&N 197 is returning to operational condition in 2 years. These 3 locomotives will only run short excursions on 6 miles of track. Pretty much every railroad here except for 1 shortline has turned away 700, 4449, and 197. These locomotives don't see much action except once a year from late November to early December. Otherwise, they are static exhibits at the Oregon Rail Heritage Center (ORHC) in Portland.

    • @robkrasinski6217
      @robkrasinski6217 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@stuartadamsrailfanningvideos That is because of Amtrak banning charter trains in March 2018. You can’t run excursions on BNSF without Amtrak insurance which is cheaper. The steam locomotives are stuck at home so to speak. There are only a handful of long steam runs in the US now on tourist railroads and regional railroads.

      one day, maybe though csx has been very kind and given much attention to our friends at the kentucky steam heritage group with 2716 an engine we also for a time ran, while 765 was in need of rebuild,
      if you have not looked into news about their group csx donated a switcher to them, its one of the old car shops they used in ravina, and did all that rebuild work on a caboose at the cumberland shops, from the pictures of it csx did a wonderful job, so their attitude on steam may be softening, people said many things would never happen and those things have come to pass, like mainline trips, the restoration of a bigboy, restoring 611 and how they said the president would never win, all those had come to pass, and the restoration of the new river trips though shortened and has our indaviduals from the fort wayne railroad, the kentucky group, and a few others to make it happen and staff the trains to do it.

      It would be amazing, but mainline steam right now is only a sliver of what it used to be.
