You're not being biased Justin, it's just what you keenly observe and you're bullseye on it.....here in the Philippines in like drinking places or restaurants where live bands play you'd most likely hear retro music of the 60s 70s 80s 90s coz that's the era when music was real music that filipinos love. You've long been aware of the caliber of talent is on here in music, add them up then you know and we know how much you'd love to do karaoke here 😁
It's true..i feel in love on how the singer delivered the lyrics with deep feelings of what the song writer wanted to express the emotions here in this song.

For the most part, Filipinos, like songs that tell a story. In addition, we prefer music over just plain yelling and screaming. That is part of the reason why we loved classic American songs. Love songs, romantic songs and the like. But of course, the much younger ones like the famous songs of this year, this month or this week. But eventually, they too would be singing good ol American songs that also influences the Filipino song writers. Just my two cents...

I completely agree with you about her being able to tell a story and make you feel things. I love the way she decided to interpret the music. It was very personal as though she is singing to her beloved. I never fail to tear up when I hear this. There's just so much love overflowing from her voice. And kudos to the band as well.
