@@dheerajvelamuri that song was written for me fr. I was in a short yet truly genuine relationship with a guy in class in highschool. After we graduated i scored enough to get admission to a far-away college so I had to leave him behind, and he wasn't okay with long-distance relationship. So we broke up. It didn't pain me as much as it did him. I returned to my hometown after a year last December - that was before evermore - and wondered if he still loved me, if he would take me now. I kinda regretted going to that college so I got to thinking what would have been if I hadn't broken up with him. When I listened to this song for the first time , I cried. I really miss him. Hope he misses me, too
Folklore and Evermore are therapy. “Champagne Problems” and “Tolerate It” definitely hit me hard. I broke off an engagement at the beginning of this year and I’m still trying to find the reasons. And then I’m sure many others can relate, we’ve all had a “Tolerate It” type of relationship. Her songs just have so much depth and are so personable. This is what we needed during this awful pandemic 🌟
100%. Because she appreciates her talent, but is also honest and not influenced by external pressures. She just FEELS it. (and, thankfully for us, loves it too)
@@JerSwifty yeah i know, ivy and marjorie among them, I wrote about the guitar only because ajayll here was like "you better plaaaayy baabby" on cowboy like me 😂
"Champagne Problems" is an all-timer from her. What an immaculate and heartbreaking song. Perfect. "evermore" might be even better than "folklore". I don't know yet.
I really like how the story-telling of Champagne Problems is so similar to All Too Well. I've been waiting for all the reviews and reactions to see how people react to it but I'm really surprised to see so few people realising that. I'm legit at your position, I think evermore might be even better than folklore but still don't know it yet😂❤️
In terms of the melody, I probably like folklore more but in terms of lyrics I like evermore more than folklore. But I honestly think both albums are very similar so I can't really decide cause both are really good AHHA. My favourite song is the lakes tho
Not trying to be a nuisance, but just to help you get ahead in English class, I thought I'd point out that works of art that have smaller works in them: should be either underlined or italicized (current MLA favors italics) to distinguish it from the quoted, smaller works. Since, you're talking about two large works, it would be: _Folklore_ and _Evermore_ . You did correctly punctuate "Champagne Problems." To italicize in youtube all you have to do is put _ around the word(s). Of course, you don't have to do it in youtube, but as the saying goes: "If you don't use it, you lose it." Hope this helps you in the future! ♥️
"I don't condone murder because someone cheated" AJay was so taken aback by the olive garden line that she missed the implication that he killed his wife 😭😭
I got it the first time, but I also was following along with the lyric video, so that helped. I think we should also show love for the beautiful background that are used for her lyric videos in the Folklore/Evermore era. They're so mesmerizingly beautiful. On another note, I was also really surprised she name dropped a chain restaurant like Olive Garden in there. Will they try to claim rights or something, or is that fine to do? You never know with copyright.
For anyone who doesn’t know, Marjorie is about her late maternal grandmother Marjorie, who’s career in opera inspired Taylor to pursue music. Marjorie’s opera vocals are actually incorporated in the background!!!
I didn’t cry to the song until I looked at the credits and saw her listed as background vocals. The next time I listened to it and heard the distant opera of her grandmother, I sobbed.
@@bannappleblonde I was the same! I knew it was about her grandmother, but when I actually listened carefully to the lyrics and the instrumentation and heard her grandmothers vocals in the background, I was aching! It's such a pretty song
@@jackmcphail99 I lost my grandma two nights ago. Marjorie has gone from being my favorite song on the album to one that I don’t know if I’ll ever have the strength to listen to again. So haunting and too relatable at the moment. This album means so much more to me now.

I just want to say that Coney Island is just like Illicit Affairs. It is not the most surprising at first listening. It is WAITING for the right moment to hit your heart. And once you get the song, it will easily be your top songs of the album. Coney Island and Illicit Affairs really hit hard
Illicit Affairs encompassed me in the first listen. I still haven’t gotten that with Coney Island but I hope to soon. I want to like it but it’s not vibing with me yet. Also is that Sana in your profile picture?! My bias wrecker 🥰

@@drew1944 Literally me whenever I listen to AURORA's music: But yes, I LOVEE gold rush as well and it does give me that sunrise-in-the-green-hills imagery, with you sitting on a park bench with the birds chirping through the new morning and all that. *Arguably* the best song in the album.
Evermore is a fking masterpiece. I really loved Folklore, it has some of my favourite songs from her such as The Last Great American Dynasty (the storytelling!), My Tears Ricochet (one of the best songs of her entire career), SEVEN (A SUPERIOR WORK OF ART), Invisible String, Peace and The Lakes. HOWEVER, I don't know why, but I connected more with Evermore since my very first listen. Willow is so melodic, catchy and sexy. She described it really well when she said it sounded "witchy". Then, she hits you with some of her best lyrics on the beautiful Champagne Problems ("She would have made such a lovely bride, what a shame she's fucked in the head, they say"). When you haven't still recovered from that, you hear the angelical beginning of A MASTERPIECE: the sublime Gold Rush. This song sounds like a shiny nostalgic dream and it's an emotional rollercoaster. The chorus is like reaching paradise. She literally recreated in music and imagery how it feels like to have a crush on someone and knowing that it will never happen. One of my favourite songs EVER. Then 'Tis the damn season, another masterpiece 😭. "No body no crime" is a banger; country and with a dark undertone, it feels like a detective novel. After that, the ethereal Happiness takes you to heaven again and hits you with lyrics such as "I was dancing when the music stopped /And in the disbelief I can't face reinvention/I haven't met the new me yet". Then Coney Island, in which she shows again why she is a genius: "Were you standing in the hallway With a big cake, happy birthday" > Jake Gyllenhaal, The Moment I Knew "Did I paint your bluest skies the darkest gray?" > John Mayer, Dear John "And when I got into the accident The sight that flashed before me was your face" > Harry Styles, Out of the Woods "But when I walked up to the podium I think that I forgot to say your name" > we all know the name of that mo**erf*cker, I Forgot that You Existed. Then Ivy, what a stunning song, so poetic. And the sound... It's mystical, enthralling. And what to say about "Cowboy like me", probably the best song on Evermore together with "Gold Rush", "Champagne Problems", "Ivy", "Evermore" (the song) and Right where you left me". "Cowboy like me" is soft, melodic, vibey, romantic 😭 The electric guitar solo towards the end is just magical. "Long story short" is a bop! It's fresh, upbeat, great lyrics, relatable. I LOVE IT. I hope she release it as a single. Marjorie is wise and truly emotional. Evermore (the song) is another WORK OF ART. The lyrics, the fucking lyrics: "Gray November, I've been down since July /Motion capture put me in a bad light" > July 2016, the infamous recorded phonecall was posted and edited to make her look as if she was a liar "And I was catching my breath, barefoot in the wildest winter catching my death" 😭 And that bridge: "I'm on waves, out being tossed/ Is there a line that I could just go cross?/And when I was shipwreck, I thought of you/ In the cracks of lights, I dreamt of you/ And it was real enough to get me through" And then, the final part... "And I couldn't be sure, I had a feeling so peculiar that this pain wouldn't be for EVERMORE". Just wow.
Because of your opinion now I can't choose between folklore and evermore 😭 Folklore is my favorite IMO but because of this I appreciate the beauty of evermore
The only accurate "Reactor" ever. She's not like others who are like "It's not catchy enough, Next" .... Ajay appreciates everything, the vocal, the back up vocal, the transition, the lyrics, the melody, the tune/tone, the harmonization, the curse words, the instrumentals etc. So if she say it's good, then it's forreal damn good. PERIOOODT!!
well not always, she didn’t like Chromatica at first and then she did a “revisit” and said it was aoty just to avoid getting more hate from gaga’s fans
😍😍😍 I love AJ! For sure she has biases, but that’s also goes for everybody. What differs her from others is that she’s not a casual listener, like you said! Well said! 👏🏼
When Taylor said that folklore represents spring and summer while evermore represents autumn and winter, I could really feel it. Each album really represents the seasons that she mentioned. Super good. Been a fan of Taylor since 2010. It's been exactly 10 years since I'm a fan!
When did she say that? Lol I was thinking the same! When listening to evermore, I actually feel that kind of winter and autumn vibes, and I don't know why I kind of associated willow with the winter solstice. In the other hand, I always associated folklore with summer -it literally has a song called august- when I listened to folklore today it didn't feel like this time of the year, it felt more like some good memories from the last summer, so I think it really matches the season
Closure is a song that you definitely need to listen to multiple times in order to really appreciate it. The chaos in the beginning covered up by the delicate piano is so representative of the chaos that goes on inside of you while trying to move on after a relationship, and the piano over it represents the civil front you put on to show a person that you are over them, when in reality there is so much more going on behind it.
every time i listen to marjorie i just sob for hours. the way she sampled her grandma's opera vocals to haunt her after she says "i'd think you were singing to me now" ... brilliant production. shatters me every time.

So fucking totally agree, the mysterious thing about it would be her mark from 0 to 100. What mark would she give? This is what I think for these albums: Melodrama 100 NFR 90 Right? And the list goes on and on.
I think the sound of this "machine" also contrasts with the piano, showing us How she is at the moment (piano) and how the person who wants to close the matter is (noise). Like they'll never tune in.
1st chorus “I think he did it”: este suspects her husband is cheating 2nd “I think he did it”: taylor suspects husband killed este “they think she did it”: police/other ppl think mistress killed husband (taylor has alibi and mistress has motive aka the insurance policy) “she thinks I did it”: mistress suspects taylor killed husband no body no crime is cleverly written and you truly start to appreciate the song more once you understand its little intricacies
These two albums were exactly what I needed. When folklore came out I was experiencing the most painful breakup/ moments of my life. I was so optimistic at the time that he'd come back, and so many of those songs reflected on the good. Then evermore comes out right when I'm starting to accept this may be my life. Going through the anger and confusion. I couldn't be more grateful and I'm so glad she loved them
Oh god this exactly! When folklore came, I was living for the hope of it all. I was so caught up. Hoping that he'd love me. But now evermore is what i need. That there'll be happiness after him. Acknowledging that the pain and happiness he brought me is done.
@@reyque YES EXACTLY! Evermore helps sm because, my ex is a really good person. And I remember being mad earlier when it happened. Most breakup songs cover if someone cheats or sucks.

@@vece_calls I think this is probably what I'm leaning towards too. The lyrics on evermore are probably the best of her career overall.
I feel like saying evermore is better than folklore is betraying folklore! lol. I love both.

RIGHTT T.T Champagne Problems made me cry so badd the lyrics, especially at the end of the song, I just cant T.T
Then Coney Island, in which she shows again why she is a genius:
"Were you standing in the hallway
With a big cake, happy birthday" > Jake Gyllenhaal, The Moment I Knew
"Did I paint your bluest skies the darkest gray?" > John Mayer, Dear John
"And when I got into the accident
The sight that flashed before me was your face" > Harry Styles, Out of the Woods
"But when I walked up to the podium
I think that I forgot to say your name" > we all know the name of that mo**erf*cker, I Forgot that You Existed.
The lyrics, the fucking lyrics:
"Gray November, I've been down since July /Motion capture put me in a bad light" > July 2016, the infamous recorded phonecall was posted and edited to make her look as if she was a liar
"And I was catching my breath, barefoot in the wildest winter catching my death" 😭 And that bridge: "I'm on waves, out being tossed/ Is there a line that I could just go cross?/And when I was shipwreck, I thought of you/ In the cracks of lights, I dreamt of you/ And it was real enough to get me through"
And then, the final part...
"And I couldn't be sure, I had a feeling so peculiar that this pain wouldn't be for EVERMORE". Just wow.
True👍👍👍

When Taylor said that folklore represents spring and summer while evermore represents autumn and winter, I could really feel it. Each album really represents the seasons that she mentioned. Super good. Been a fan of Taylor since 2010. It's been exactly 10 years since I'm a fan!
It was the end of a decade, but the start of an age when you started being a Swiftie, right? :)
Really? I always picture it the other way around. I think evermore is brighter and more peaceful, like spring flowers popping out of the winter snow.
I think folklore is winter ...
