      Paul Escalona or how about anyone that doesnt have a gun, never bought a gun, never went through the process of purchasing a firearm, or even shot a gun, ACTUALLY GO THROUGH THE PROCESS YOURSELF AND GAIN MORE KNOWLEDGE ON GUNS. I'm from Alaska, we all grow up around guns, we learn from the beginning it is not a toy, it is a tool. There is so much mislead information about firearms, and nowadays pepl dont check sources enough. And the pepl making the sources havent ever done it in person lol

      Yes it is shocking how Americans do not know the legal law,it is shocking how They do not know that any law which violates the constitution of the United States of America is not legally law it is null and void.
      It shows 95 % of Americans are dumbdown brainwashed sheep who actually believe weapons laws are legal in the United States of America,no weapons laws in America are legal law they are null and void they are in violation of the Supreme law of the land the United States constitution which overrides and supersedes all laws.
      The right of the people,to keep and bear arms,shall not be infringed.

      You have to be 25, and not have a criminal record. You need a license to carry a firearm in public that costs less than what most Americans pay to license their car. Citizens can obtain a license to carry an automatic weapon in Brazil. So harder regulation than America but not even remotely impossible. Like the US Brazil has more guns than people. Also Brazil's 2005 gun regulation saw firearms deaths dropped steeply then rose sharply when it became legal to carry handguns in public.

      @@juruhime Consider this, the vast majority of shootings happen in or near cities. Do you know why? Because guns aren't allowed in or near cities. And the law abiding citizens will GASP abide the law and not carry guns. Now picture this, I am a bad person (possibly on drugs) who has no concern for the no gun law. So I keep a gun in my waistband. One day I decide to shoot some people. SO I go to me most densly populated place I can find and pen fire killing over 20 people. The police are on the way but not here yet. So I hop into a car and run away. There is a problem here. No one in that crowd was able to stop me because I had a gun and they didn't. With the exception of a select few who passed the background checks when they legally shouldn't have (due to clerical error or failure to transfer relevant information to authorities) all of the mass shooters had nothing in their records that would have prevented them from passing the background check.

Fixing that would go much further toward preventing mass shootings, and not fixing it leaves us ill-equipped to decide what mental state is and isn't grounds for restricting access to guns. Very true.
      So much for the fallicy of all that HIAP (Health In All Policies) requirements under the UN, and that we all signed onto after the Ottawa charter.
      The ones that make all countries responsible for human rights abuses, fair treatments & just laws..and that all policies & laws be made with health, (all kinds, mental, physical, spiritual) and established best practices in relevant fields, being formost requirements in their passing, or continuing to exist as legitimate laws to govern people.
      Most countries in the world are signatories to it now, and not just the biggest, or 1st world ones either.
      And when i was studying my Enrolled Nursing course, i became aware of just how much both is, in some areas & regards..but also NOT in others, being enforced, or even taken seriously.
      Came across more than a few double standards of the kinds you've touched on here myself, and often wondered (Especially as a pro-gun owner in Australia!) About many of those issues myself.
      Asked lots of questions too..never been given anything even remotely like a legitimate answer yet..
      The closest if been given to an honest answer so far, is that its far too big & widespread a problem for 'only laws & policies' to fully change, even over time..
      But mostly it comes down to 'political viability' issues, and that the 'current problems' re: mental health standards, are not issues anyone wants to tackle, or fund..
      Or be left holding the bag for, or their name left attached to its potential failures.
      "It's not quite bad enough, or broken enough, for us to need to mess with 'fixing' it yet.."
      The many who fall through the cracks are considered "accidental collateral damage" of the system, and not for any one person/title/politician to be accountable for..
      Hell, we cant even fix serious problems of 'ambulance ramping' en mass, (lined up, waiting their turn, on the emergency IN ramp) at our capital city hospital, on any given day..
      Much less the myriad of mere 'mental health issues', which are a much less concerning area (politically) for the masses here.
      Until it gets used as a catch all excuse to legally steal our rights & private property, falsely and without any proof or due process, because the system isn't even coping for the actual people with known, medically established mental health issues, much less any real (or even demonstrated) ability to provide real due process of law & accusations against gun owners.
      There is no real protections for gun rights here at any level, now.
      It is intentionally being stripped away, and used AGAINST you now, despite descrimination supposedly being illegal.
      I can't descriminate: but everyone else can about my private property & how i use it..we already have far too many intrusive laws for that!
      And I've had a gut full of it.
      So much for bwing "free people" in a free & domocratic country..its hard enough to be treated like a "real person" anymore..much less respect us as a 'gun' owner.
      As if ownership of privately owned property (of any kind), is something we have to ask the permission of strangers for..in any capacity..much less our very private homes!
      Ever wondered how horrified most hoplophobes would be, if they really knew just how many of the poeple they rely on every day..are shooters & gun owners?
      From the wardsman taking you down to X-ray, to the surgeon doing live-saving NICU work on their premature baby, to the taxi driver taking you home..to your child's ballet or gymnastics instructor..to the builders & electricians that build, plan, create and power your elitest little worlds, to the saw millers that made your beautiful wood homes & furnishings..
      What if we all, one day soon decide to draw a line of our own?
      And refuse you, to dictate what rights, freedoms and even private property or classes you can attend in our own country instead..
      What if we decided that you cannot own your semi-automatic transmission motor vehicles anymore, either..hmm?
      Learn to drive a real car, in full, to a high standard of competency..
      What if that firefighter decided he won't help save tyrants & those who willfully aid them, vote for them..to steal from us, to interfere like slithering asps, even in our private lives & homes, and our private property..
      Who vote against freedoms of arms.
      You go to any other country on earth, where that is the established rule of the land, and i guarantee..you won't wanna live there yourself.

    They’re blaming video games again... games don’t have anything to do with it. It’s just easier to blame games than to actually deal with the issue. You can’t just ban guns because that’s not how it works. They should actually you know do better at background checks and make it so you can’t just easily have access. A lot of the people who do bad things like this have mental health issues and they shouldn’t be aloud to have access to that, and for they’re comment on there’s no background checks at gun shows that’s not true there are I’ve worked some and witnessed background checks happening at gun shows when I go to help run the books with my dad. It takes 15-30 minutes if everything goes well sometimes it takes 30-40 it depends honestly.. it all comes down to education and training.

    3:55 that’s wrong. That is not factual. You cannot buy a firearm in Nevada and go back to California. California is one of the only states where you can’t do that. They will literally tell you wherever you’re buying the firearm that you cannot transport it to California. You can’t even buy it if you’re a resident of California!! And also what they fail to mention is that Australia has banned guns that’s why this law is so strict. It’s like transporting drugs in a sense.

    • @noahboudreau516
      @noahboudreau516 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Simi not necessarily. It depends on the gun. The style. The magazine. The bullet button. The stock. There’s a lot of things that can deny your purchase. If you attempt to buy an AR that has a bump stock attachment in Texas and you live in Nevada your purchase will be denied because of the recent ban of them due to the Las Vegas shooting. Many states also have the bullet button law that don’t let you eject the magazine from the gun. You can’t buy assault rifles out of state if u live in New York. Like I said there’s many factors that can contribute to you being able to purchase a firearm. The attachments can cause ur purchase to be denied because in your resident state it’s illegal. Same as the style of firearm shotgun, pistol, etc. In essence to address your statement, no not only one state. Each state has different laws which effect the legality of purchases in other states.

    Guns are very strictly regulated in Sweden. Swedes must get an individual license for every firearm. Prospective gun owners submit the application directly to the police. To obtain the license, you have to show that you have a specific need for a firearm, like hunting, sport shooting, or collecting guns. A license may be granted for protection, but in practice, these types of licenses are almost never granted. You also have to pass an exam or have been a member of a shooting club for at least six months. Weapons and ammunition must be stored in approved gun safes. There are significant penalties for breaking these rules.

      Some of your laws, I agree with. Passing an exam 100%. Individual license, ey don't see how it would do much. Storing something that you want for quick protection in a safe, eyy. Having the government choose if YOuR REASON for wanting a firearm is good enough, fuck off.

In class we learn to shoot with different types of guns because we don’t know what type fits for each person. After we get the permit from the gun store we have to bring that permit with the type of gun that you want to buy to the police station to get approved. BadKitty NoTuna An AR. Because cannons are incredibly hard to mobilize especially with only one person (I’d say impossible actually) and much like muskets you have minimum 10 seconds between shots (original muskets took over a minute to reload and at their height it was 3 shots a minute) as opposed to milliseconds. And I’m gonna go ahead and say that exactly zero boats or warships were ever used to mow down people at school or in a church or at a concert. You would be effectively ensuring nobody good has a gun but bad people do. It is similar to marijuana in a sales sense. When its legal good people can purchase it and own it but when it was illegal it was very common among bad people as it became lucrative to sell it illegally. By banning guns you create a market for illegal guns that only bad people buy.

      The Second Amendment allows for a "well regulated" militia. Gun control is not inherently unconstitutional; in fact, under Article 1 Section 8, you can find the words "the Congress shall have the Power . . . To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining, the Militia." The Elastic Clause establishes that Congress has the ability to create laws and enforce this power. Therefore, the constitution does not prevent gun control and regulation, but instead encourages it.

I do believe that more in depth mental screening would help limit some of the guns falling into the wrong hands. Gotcha brother, with extra sauce:
      Firearms are used more often defending lives than used to take lives by criminals. Defensive gun use estimates of annual uses ranging from about 500,000 to more than 3 million. Simply, guns save lives, not take.

      www.nap.edu/read/18319/chapter/3
      As for "assault weapons" and banning them, the FBI did a study of the 90's Assault Weapons ban. They found it did nothing to prevent their criminal use, in fact they found handguns where used in the overwhelming majority of crimes with firearms while assault weapons where insignificant in use by comparison.

    The Brady Bill was signed into law by Bill Clinton on November 30, 1993. James Brady was shot on March 30, 1981 (he lived and was there when Clinton signed the bill). The legislation was first introduced to Congress February 4, 1987. It was not a "someone important got shot and they immediately set about changing the laws." What the Brady Bill actually did was to mandate federal background check on firearm purchases in the US (FEDERAL, so no it doesn't change from state to state) It also set a 5 day waiting period until the implementation of the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) in 1998. For the background check the holder of a Federal Firearms License (FFL) initiates the background check by phone or computer. Most checks are determined within minutes. It does not take "way longer than 3 days" to get information on people where nearly all of our records are digitally stored.

    • @nerdstrangler4804
      @nerdstrangler4804 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's actually completely false. Its also how Dylan Roof got his gun, despite that he shouldn't have been allowed to buy one. If a background check takes more than 3 days you are allowed to sell the gun anyway. Its called a default proceed.
      Yes for people with a clean record they are usually very quick, but for people with red flags they take much longer to investigate. So the default proceed rule primarily benefits criminals and there were over 300,000 default proceeds in 2016. So its actually pretty damn common
      Our lax guns laws are literally insane.

    • @acornsoda22
      @acornsoda22 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@nerdstrangler4804 "Completely false?" Clean record or not most of them are very quick. Around 9% of cases require further investigation, so it's not that common. The FBI continues its investigations for up to 90 days, if it's determined that a transfer was made to a prohibited person the case is transferred to the ATF for firearms retrieval. To be clear I'm not against extending the waiting period on these default proceeds, but for the vast majority of cases they are resolved in under an hour.
