  • The POK3R is an on-board programmable keyboard and that's one of the reasons that this is very much THE standard when it comes to 60% keyboards. All other mechanical keyboards are measured against it, and there's good reason why. This video should help you understand how to program it and take advantage of some of its great features.
    This is an engineering sample and may not be indicative of the final product.

    Had my keyboard for a couple years. Completely forgot how the RGB features worked and I couldn't lower my lighting levels and somehow completely mess up my keyboard lighting. Reset it and but was still the same. I realized I was in one of the many lighting modes!! Got it fixed and was able to be reminded of all the different modes available, Thanks to your video. LOL!

    caps as mod3 is the shit. Think about it: it is the only function key which sits in the home row, it is easier to press than the shift keys and doesn't require you to hold your hand in an awkward position, if you need your left index finger on the f key for reference (while typing fast). Map the arrow keys (plus capslock) to j,k,l,i, the ";" => Enter, Space => Backspace, "u" => "{", o => "}", d => '[', f => ']', a => '' etc. you can program fast with such a setup, I make a lot less mistakes if my index fingers do not have to keep jumping away from the home row.

    Enjoyed the video
    Just FYI at about 1 minute in you talk about dipswitches for Colemak and Dvorak and you mix up which is which. Only Dip 1 on is Dvorak (you say Colemak) and 1 and 2 on is Colemak (you say Dvorak)

    4:41 My pok3r just keeps blinking red when I press Pn. I did everything exactly the same as in the video, I don't get what I'm doing wrong here.

    Question before buying: I'm planning to go for a Vortex Race 3 (ISO) that, according to manual, can be programmed exactly as the pok3r. Do you think I can program a layer to have a full Italian layout? Can I program a key to send, say, è or € or ú and so on?

    • @petergosselin1180
      @petergosselin1180 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, in my mind you'll just program the layer key to do the key combination to do those keypresses.

    aww shit. I have the Vortex vibe and i says to follow the programming guide for this board. I really want to change the function layer. Does anyone know if firmware updates allow you to make changes to the program layer? I just really want to use the arrow keys at wasd without switching layer so that I can jam out on excel.

    Why would anyone bother with programming auto input with the pok3r and all its quirks when you can achieve exactly the same result with AutoHotkey?

    • @skiwithpete
      @skiwithpete  6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Auto-hotkey is the computer. This programs the keyboard so you can remove it from the computer, plug it into a different one, and still use the same commands.

    Was the issue where holding down Fn+{key} only worked while they were held down ever fixed? Thanks for the video!

    • @skiwithpete
      @skiwithpete  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't believe the issue has been fixed.

    • @DanielGattermann
      @DanielGattermann 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      You're talking about having to hold down a key to run the recorded keystrokes? I've received my RGB ISO Poker 3 yesterday (not sure which firmware, I'm on a Mac and they only have Windows updaters) but I can program a whole sentence to e.g. Q or Fn+Q, press the button for a split second and the whole sentence appears. This bug seems to be fixed.

    • @Monstar760
      @Monstar760 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i just tried this with my poker3, and for a long string, it is not fixed. it exhibits same issue as this issue. :-s

    • @DanielGattermann
      @DanielGattermann 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Now I'm really confused. If programmed "t" and "Fn+s" to print the following:
      012345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890
      That's 111 characters automatically printed after pressing the key(s) for a split second. I thought the limit was 32? It's a Poker 3 RGB and I'm on a Mac (not that the OS matters, or at least it shouldn't).
      How I programmed the sequence (just to make sure we're talking about the same thing):
      - Fn + right Ctrl
      - "t" or "Fn+s"
      - typing the numbers as seen above
      - Pn/Menu
      - Fn + right Ctrl

      I believe this is a bug in the way macros are repeated back. I think you should contact Vortex about this.

    Can the pok3r vortex rgb be turned on azerty keyboard ?

    • @ashifulbhuiyan
      @ashifulbhuiyan 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes

    • @DRMirago
      @DRMirago 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ashifulbhuiyan I don't think that it can be turned into an azerty keyboard. You can shift around the regular characters like a, z, e, r, t and y. But you do not get the special characters like é, è, ê, î, û, ç, which are a vital part of an azerty keyboard. The problem is that in the programming step you have to type in (with the keyboard itself) the characters the keyboard shall output after programming is done. You obviously cannot type in what isn't there in the beginning.
      A bit sloppily, i would describe the programming capabilities as follows: You can move around the keys on the keyboard but you cannot get new keys.
      I haven't entirely lost my hope though. If anyone knows how to get a ç by pressing Alt-c, please let me know.
