And of course, as you build your soil and all it's lovely microbiomes, and increase water retention, you attract and help sustain many different species and that biodiversity is integral to a healthy ecosystem. I just love what you're doing. 💚
What an opening. Hell yeah that was pretty cool. Pretty nice set up you've got. It's a desert oasis. It obviously works. Where greenery grows, there's water somewhere close.
Greening takes time but if you do it right you get fantastic results! My maternal grandparents bought barren land in lower Wisconsin. The first thing they planted were black locust trees which are extremely hardy and a little invasive. Then a few walnut trees and apple trees. Finally red sumac bushes. Everything else came naturally. Eventually the black locust trees vitalized the soil and allowed them to plant a ton of other things on their ten acres.
Great layout. Love to see a year to year comparison with various plants, constructions etc. “Last year it looked like this, now this.” Trying to get a feel for the transition. 🐺
I'll see what I can do. I do have a playlist that starts from the beginning of you'd like to check it out. All Frugal Off Grid Videos: th-cam.com/play/PLDg94Ykjf-y-gT6wkR_oh1_aFXhNyyYl2.html
@@FrugalOffGrid Yes. been catching up here and there. Time stamps linked to older visa is a cool idea I’m exploring. More of a forward thinking idea unless I catch something on my back files. Cheers 🐺
You have come so far. Absolutely amazing ❤👍🙂 I’m watching you from Delaware in amazement. I’ve been out there and I know what that area is like and you are inspirational.
Really wonderful video. ivwould love to do something like you. You seen the allen savory ted talk . Greening the planet through life stock. ❤ Dont you feel lonely .
I am building up my homestead down in the low desert of Maricopa county. I am going to try to make swales and utilize the drive way drainage you have. We shall see how it goes
Nice work! Try some yeast water on you plants and in your compost bins it will boost everything. Also get a worm bin going if you haven't already those little beasts are amazing!
John, those wild yellow flowers I see all over your property look like goldenrod which is powerful medicine. Please check and see if that IS goldenrod and see if it would work in your health program. You may have an unexpected resource available to you that could add some additional income for you. Loved the drone footage at the intro. Are you going to incorporate zunni bowls near your trees? Great video, sorry I missed your live this morning. Be Blessed. 😊😊😊
I was literally typing this as you started talking about mulch haha, it's probably impossible to get something like a mulch drop service since you're so far out, but if it was possible, have you thought about how you'd use up tons of mulch if delivered?
I've enjoyed creating all my own soil bit by bit. I've never purchased any soil, amendments, or fertilizer, and that's fun for me. I'll cover it all eventually.
Hope you don't mind asking, but why goji? Wolfberries are America's variety and native to Arizona. We have one goji and need to water it, but not the wolfberries. A plus, we will give the wolfberries some water every month and they rebloom. They also seem to be sweeter than goji. God work on your place!
If possible, find away to haul some orgamic matter to your property, stuff arborist and landsapwrs wpuod dump for a fee, you can take for free. And begin Huglekultur.
@@FrugalOffGrid Tottaly get that. Personally, I live in a country countey town that is rapidly being urbanized, so I see lots of organic mattwr going to the city dump. That breaks my heart, also I have 10 goats and some chikens, so Instead of them dumping at a dump, they can come here and I use thier organic matter to fees my animals, build shelters, and of course; regnerate the soil… and maybe they make a small donation to me from time to time😎🌱🐐
Please limit hand gesturing in your video shot. The camera focuses on your hand instead of what you are pointing at. Thanks for a good explanation. I have 36 acres near Winslow and am doing some of the same things you are. But have a ways to go to catch up with you.
Thank you for taking the time to watch my new video. I'm grateful for every one of you.

Have you considered, or thought about biochar (microbes hotels)?
Nice homestead ! Well thought out and you've laid out where everything will be.
@@FrugalOffGrid You are such a kind, compassate man. I just wanted to say thank you for being such an inspiration.

I like your "update" videos John.
Thank you Mike!
Awesome stuff! Your channel is an inspiration on how to use permaculture and regenerative gardening frugally and in a harsher environment no less.
TY not only for all the great perma culture information, but also for the positivity your videos project! Take care & be well!
You bet! It doesn't hurt to be positive.
Well played partner. May Favor and Prosperity be with you always.
That geothermal garden is perfect for people living in Arizona
Nice drone shots!

Wow good job bro. Super cool project
Love watching your videos. Your desert looks a lot like mine. I'd love to see some mesquites and desert willows.
Wow, video turned out great!

Thanks, Lisa. I'll look into it. There are so many techniques out there that I just haven't tried or considered them all. Maybe I will.
Thank you. Good info
I bet 🌶️🌶️🌶️ once established would do great! They’re perennial + the less water they get the spicier the 🌶️🌶️🌶️

Everything is so green! When was the last time it rained??
what's the rate of expansion of those erosion gullies towards your house? or is it so slow you don't have to think about it?
❤😊
Beautiful. Is this up near Mayor?
I know you answered in other videos but I can't find who you recommend to find off grid here in Arizona. I am in Phoenix and would like a get away.
are you adding biochar in the compost or feeding it to the animals ?
Have u had any significant tree or plant growth because of water soak
Will you plant fruit trees or is that too water intensive?
How many acres is this
