Glenn your very welcome. It brings me a lot of joy to see how much excitement and joy you have for this car. From this 50 something to another 50 something enjoy the build! This car was meant to be yours. I just got into the hobby a year ago and your channel has led me down many obsessive rabbit holes already. Nice to see this car on your channel and look forward to seeing it once built. My optima mid is still on the bench and finally got it painted last night. Take care. Wayne
I love your “dribble” as you put it because it’s passionate and from the heart! A lot of memories with this car for me too, especially when you opened the box! My younger brother got one for his first rc when he was ten. I already had my Mardave Apache and so he asked me to help him build it! Many fun evenings were had by me my brother and my dad! Can’t wait for the build video!!👍👍
that's the radio transmitter my friend had for his suburu brat! man, brings back memories... my buddy passed away a little over a year ago, so that radio brings a tear to my eye...
That is a nice piece of history. It could not be in better hands. Enjoy your build. I remember trying to get a 1200mah battery to last 5 minutes on a track.
That brand new challenger 250 is gold. I had a 260 wheel radio but almost all my friends had either a 250 or 260 when we were first getting into RC in the late 80's. I also had a Raider but with the rally body (Citroen) as my first kit.
There’s so many I want, but can’t afford. It is what it is. Not gonna go into debt over an RC. I just picked up a wild one a couple weeks ago. One of my dream cars. Probably be the last one I get this year. I’d love to get a raider. These were great buggies. You got a good deal there
I had one back in the days painted in metallic blue, ran it very much , Glenn; replace all the metal bushings by ball bearings and put much grease in the diff, put a mild brushed motor in it and a modern ESC and get that mechanical speedcontrol away.... And find some extra rear tires, they wear quickly
I saved my paper round money for weeks and months to buy one of these in 1988. Bought it form B&H models in Lincoln. Guy who worked in the shop was brilliant with is teens when we went in. Used to talk to us about kits and show us all inside the boxes when we went in. He used to have a little card box with your name on so you could go in and pay it off weekly until you’d paid enough to take it home.
Wow! What a time capsule and helluva find! Congratulations on acquiring another piece of your childhood memories. So cool that you even get to build this as new.
I remember putting a business card with my name hand written on it when I sold a new kit to either a new customer or first time buyer with the “If you have any issues or questions building you can always come back to us for help…” “or if you decide it’s to much ill build it for you for $xx” that really how I funded my RC racing back in the day I started working weekends and after school at my local hobby shop around this same era I was like 12-13 at the time seeing this definitely brings back some memories
Great to see you smiling and reminiscing the good ol'days of way back when , and yes i so remember this kit Glenn , my friend at the time had bought the Kyosho Pegasus and i do believe it was a toss up between the two so cool to see a new in box getting built on the channel my friend .
I love the passive aggressive "Important Notice". if you break it don't come to us! 😆 Can't wait to see the build video! And a gentle run.... away from curbs..... Agree with its performance compared to its supposed competition, even as an entry level Kyosho, way ahead of the Grasshopper, Hornet and probably even the Frog.
Superb Glen. That’s another one I do remember.. The raider was another one the more well off lads had!! .. Again the paper round money just wouldn’t stretch🤣🤣.. But it’s nice to one again.. excellent.. and you got a cracking example there Glen.. blimey!!!.. While your there I sent you an email last week.. not sure if I got the right address???. Just was going send a little gift along..
Hi glen suit you sir ooow😂 Brilliant find . Box you maybe able to save . Try a hair dryer and gently heat the tape up . Worth a try 👌 That's an absolute time capsule and a great deal . Glad you've got another kyosho in the collection. I'm lucky enough to have a few now plus the JJ Ultima. Still not built yet Look forward to the raider build 👌
Congrats on getting such a great kit and I love the story to go along with it. The kit that have stories and are unique like this are the ones I cherish the most in my collection as well. It is rare to have a cool backstory or connection with a kit and when they do it makes them priceless!
Suits you!! I’m not from the UK but fast show was/is one of my favorite shows of all time. It was called “Brilliant” here is the US. And quite hard to find.
Raider is also part of my childhood. I moved to a new town in 90' at age 14. Not many of my friends had rc cars, but my best friend had a BigWig, I now own that as it was gifted to me about 15 years ago. In my class there was a dude that we mention we like rc cars, Tamiya in particular. By him I bought his GRB Celica which I also have to this date. Now there was a third classmate wich was a friend of my bestfriend. And one day I visited the third classmate and he happen to drive his Raider in his yard. As I had been reading RCCA from 87 and onwards I obviously did know what a Raider was as I also collected Kyosho and Tamiya catalouges. About this time I also owned a Lunchbox and by next year in 91', I bought my first brand new Tamiya, a Bullhead that I converted intto a Clod. Sadly traded that Clod and have regretted that ever since. But since this spring I'm a proud owner of the Tamiyabase Clod (light blue). So I have now have all the vehicles from my teen years, part from Thundershot that my friend owned and a Mud Blaster that was the very first Tamiya vehicle I saw live in late 80s. Now that I have several spare ORV chassis when I get to build them from spare parts, all I need now is a Brat body to complete. So Thundershot is the last vehicle I need to make my child/teen years complete.
Very nice! I had a Raider back in the late 80's and sold it 20 years ago. Just a few weeks ago I had a chance to get a built one in Box. Now it's like new, with a new shell and decals, as well as a new chassis. But being able to build it would be so much better! Congratulations!
What an amzing deal and it landed in the right the place so meant to be. Crazy tonthink how long it has been sat there before it ended up with a true enthusiastic man like yourself. Puts a smile on my face 👍🏻
Epic!!! I was going to tag you on that ad Glenn😅 Brings back memories seeing the raider as I too saw someone racing in back in the day! If anyone needs a nib challenger 250 radio I have one avail-
Glenn that really is Feckin awesome .can’t believe someone used packing tape on it like that.but it is what it is.just awesome.and the extras included were cool af .that hitec radio was epic.will have me looking fb marketplace more often now😂
Amazing Glenn! Loved watching this and hearing your excitement pal. My Raider was my first car back in 89 and I still have it as a shelfer today. You are right about how rare those rear tyres are pal. You have an amazing find there dude and I hope you enjoy every minute of it 🙌🏻
Awsome find glenn, i do love the raider, have a basket case to restore at somepoint, i never had one back in the day, but did love the look of them. Esp in the red and white box art, looking forward to the full build on this bad boy 👍
Great video as always….I got really excited after finally getting two original single groove front drive shafts for my 1985 Mk1 Hotshot after loosing one years ago. Had that car since it first came out and every day I look at it thinking of race days gone by….Keep the videos up and the enthusiasm 🙂👍
Hi Glenn, Unbuilt Kyosho Raider now that's a sweet little treasure. You bang on with the Hornet tyres they fit straight on the stanard Raider rims and look pretty cool These are great little cars very much under rated. We have one in our runner fleet which my daughter uses. It was rebuilt in around 2018 and apart from a weak servor saver and a snapped tie rod end its been bomb prof. Its fully ball raced and has the Optima mid custom black plastic oil shocks and a 23 turn vintage brushed motor. I have also swapped out the plastic dog bone for Optima ones. She loves it, out of the 4 cars I let her run its always the one she picks first. I have a tonne of spares for it if you are missing anything let me know I'm sure I will have them.
Suit you sir 😁 awesome find Glenn and loved the video proper time capsule 👌 that market place can be deadly I was scrolling through and accidentally purchased another Blackfoot Xtreme 😂but if it's a deal it's a deal 💪
Those dog bones and cups wear out just by looking at them. In this condition you instantly want to build'em . My first real RC Car. A few pieces are still in my 1988 parts tray . The Mad Cap was next.
that's ok, funny, my first real (2nd hand) rc car, a lot of nice noises, I put a crumb thief motor 3.6 volt in it, it went very fast with the mechanical controller, the disadvantage was that it smoldered at full power, but the car has it survives. greetings john

When he first started his channel i subscribed on your recommendation and love both channels dearly. It's great you guys have such a passion for these cars and I must say I am starting to have a decent collection now myself because of you guys, I have a mixture of original cars and Re Re's, it's so exciting to now get the cars you lusted after as a kid, really enjoying the hobby again after 30+ years.
@@RCLegends2022 thanks buddy, it's all true, I am lining up my next car as we speak, the Buggy Champ (Rough Rider) coming back again in the UK in two weeks, definitely getting one 👍
Nice find. I guess box art is a given then. Normally I don't like box art as everybody seems to be doing it that way, but if it's special to you. That battery is going to be dead I guess, but not a big deal for a shelf queen.

Amazing how Fast Show catchphrases are still around. Brilliiannntttt! Today, I will mostly be building a Kyosho Raider, etc, etc, etc.
Brillianttttttt lol 😂
I’d forgotten about that one 🤣👊🏻
For me, this is one of your best videos. I love the Raider but I never had one. Being mid-motor set them apart from all the other entry level buggies.
Fantastic I’m glad you enjoyed it my friend 😇👊🏻

Good stuff Glenn, nice pick up. With Kyosho, I kinda started and stopped with the OG Ultima.
Great deal! Not a huge fan of the Raider but I would take that deal and build it also. Good old stuff is cool.
