    Absolutely magnificent people... Thank you for saving it. Who would have EVER guessed that the lead plane still existed. Thank you Basler for two things....keeping the DC-3 flying for the next decades and generations to come...and arranging a deal to keep this one preserved with radials. One day i hope to board this historic aircraft.

    I've been lucky enough to fly in one of these grand old ladies, and there is nothing else like it. Their big wings make for a smooth flight, and gave them relatively short field take off and landing qualities. I hope she makes it to Normandy and back safely, and remind everyone who sees her of all the sacrifices made during that war. Keep in mind that nearly all the countries involved in World War II flew the D.C. 2 or 3 variants, including Japan and Russia. They were the world's airplane of that era!

    What fantastic job done C-47 Skytrain , one interesting thing I found out is that during World War 2 that C-47 didn't have safely belts for the aircrew, it could be because of flying low and in event they had to bale out of their C-47 due to damage they didn't have to wrestle with seat belts to get out quickly.

    It may not look exactly like it did on D-Day, but it will represent a piece of history and that's what people will remember. They are not going to remember if there is painting on it that wasn't there on D-Day, they are not going to remember if it says "Dog sat here?" Think positive...

    Whilst not wishing to detract one whit from this marvelous project, nor the brave men whom it carried into battle, please allow me to correct you on one point. D Day was not 'begun' by the American paratroop drop. The first Allied troops to see action on D Day were British Glider Borne troops, who attacked and took Pegasus Bridge. I'm a proud Englishman, irked somewhat by the fact that you seem not to appreciate the many hundreds of thousands of British and Canadian soldiers who fought alongside you on D Day, as your brothers in arms. Just a little reminder.

    • @Bluenose352
      @Bluenose352 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh, no. You are definitely recognized. As a matter of fact, the American Pathfinders were left out too. But, the CAF is trying to fix the mistake. As a matter of fact, it's still undecided whether a RAF Dakota, or That's all Brother were leading the mass of paratroopers. British paratroopers are not forgotten.
