well, its not some complex playing, u can use ur ear or find tabs and base it on him playing it, unless ur a beginner in which case, probably not the best song to learn when just starting out
+Daniel Chachanashvili you're a beginner? this song's not for you... you're a pro? learn it by ear... oooookeeeyyyyy so, what's the point of this video again?
everyone is busy with the fast intro and the solo if Beast And The Harlot, they forgot that the appergio picking at chorus is the part that make this song different than most mainstream song in mid 2000s.
The reason Syn gets rated the way he does is because of what he brings to the band as a whole. His style takes metal but the way the songs are constructed (especially from a guitar point of view) is more like jazz guitar. Of which he graduated from Berkley School of Music with top honors.
+Casey J Wasnt a bunch of chords. just quick alternate palm muting and staccato notes. Not hard, if you know anything about guitar you should be able to see that part and be like " Oh ok"
watch a vid when they are playing together and you see how they just play off each other, i find it really amazing when 2 guitarist can come together and play in perfect harmony.
Damn right. I'm playin shit now that even a year ago I thought I'd never be able to play, mainly from seeing ppl playing like this and using it as inspiration instead of letting it discourage me. Practice practice and more practice. Amazing what that can do for you
When he played a power chord with his ring finger, that was an eye opener for me as an aspiring guitarist. I play, but I'm still learning. Also, he has VERY long fingers, I never realized.
his tone is really bass heavy. scoop the mids a bit, not much treble. give it just enough gain to get that gritty hiss in your sound, because if you add more gain then it will end up sounding like old school thrash metal instead.
if you watch this now you can hear how not so clean he played it , and if you watch the video where he dissected this song he even says that he couldn't even play some of these parts at all when he recorded this solo because he was too busy drinking and being a rockstar so he basically punched in every part. Glad that he is still awesome to this day.
@adrianthmaul hi, hes not using a boost for the solo if thats what your asking. he always has a BOSS cs-3 compressor sustainer on. thats one key part of his tone. but he also overdrives his amp with an overdrive pedal, hes used many. BUT for recording the Nightmare record he used a Zakk Wylde overdrive by MXR, SO those 2 pedals, the boss and MXR.
His picking technique is MUCH different than most guitarists, but it must be pretty good after some practice because he can obviously use it pretty well
@TangeClown Zacjy starts it, then Syn is the high part, Zacky is the low. The riff at the start is Zacky and that goes throughout, hence primary riff, hence the song
I've noticed that Syn really likes to have a small round of bending the strings before the shredding parts of some of his solos. This and Bat Country most notably
true and he actually holds it in an odd way; its a way a certain teacher in cali tought it my guitar teacher had the same guy teach him and he tought me how to hold it my teacher live in ny now he just went to college in california
Dude.. I've heard all the a7x song for ages.. But after I watched this, I immediately play out Beast and The Harlot Song to enjoy the starting guitar that are in 0:12 - 1:00 man.. It's is still enjoying though I've heard that song many times!!
yes ik. but i have been playing alot getting my band together and i have been getting a lot better a sweeping. if i learn sweeping for a song then its takes a little while to perfect it, but i can say i improved my sweeping alot
It was pick harmonics. Its the pressure difference applied to string and fret to change the pitch and frequency of the send as to bend the sound upward
god. His Tone is amazing in this video.
hello
I absolutely worship this guy, he's a magician with his playing style, but he can't teach worth a shit...
+06goughd Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach. Those who can't teach, teach gym.
+ElaborateTiger hello Dr.House
ITS2forT I got it from School Of Rock.
Sucks that you "worship" a mediocre guitarist
MrMisterMan he’s a pretty damn good guitarist
That wasn't a lesson that was just him playing it for everyone to watch.
well, its not some complex playing, u can use ur ear or find tabs and base it on him playing it, unless ur a beginner in which case, probably not the best song to learn when just starting out
Dustin Nelson it is a lesson.. just watch
+Daniel Chachanashvili you're a beginner? this song's not for you... you're a pro? learn it by ear... oooookeeeyyyyy so, what's the point of this video again?
learn it by ear
Jaüría X because some people learn by seeing what he plays
everyone is busy with the fast intro and the solo if Beast And The Harlot, they forgot that the appergio picking at chorus is the part that make this song different than most mainstream song in mid 2000s.
Best part of the song TBH
14 years ago. High school memories 😁
This guy is an unbelievable guitarist, only problem is defining where he and zacky change over in their earlier stuff (waken the fallen etc)
*waking
bro he is now a legend
The sound of the amp is amazing, I can listen to it forever
his solos are so clean, wish I could play like that
i remember watching this a few years ago and thinking, "i could never play the verse riff". now i can of course
Same here 🙏
Same lol
This song isn't hard to play, it just sounds awesome, which is why so many people want to know how to play it and why they made a video on it.
The reason Syn gets rated the way he does is because of what he brings to the band as a whole. His style takes metal but the way the songs are constructed (especially from a guitar point of view) is more like jazz guitar. Of which he graduated from Berkley School of Music with top honors.
Did he really? Wow
i love his way of picking..so cool
*Plays a bunch of chords*
"Pretty self-explanatory."
LMFAO
Metal Guitarist that's still not teaching.
+Casey J Wasnt a bunch of chords. just quick alternate palm muting and staccato notes. Not hard, if you know anything about guitar you should be able to see that part and be like " Oh ok"
Brandon Rivero well considering I haven't played guitar in 5 years and I only took guitar in high school...
hes a guitar player not a teacher remember tha well he did use teach but tha not the point
craig seddon well I was kind of expecting to learn something from a tutorial.
That fucking pinch harmonic at 1:39 was fucking perfect.
I love his hands ♥
watch a vid when they are playing together and you see how they just play off each other, i find it really amazing when 2 guitarist can come together and play in perfect harmony.
epic picking style
I love this man's talent with a guitar...and he's just adorable!
lol he's one of the best guitarists and he made this song. hes not some random guy doing a lesson this is HIS song lol
His tone is amazing.
"Ya pretty much self explanatory" Thx for the great tutorial man! lol
Damn right. I'm playin shit now that even a year ago I thought I'd never be able to play, mainly from seeing ppl playing like this and using it as inspiration instead of letting it discourage me. Practice practice and more practice. Amazing what that can do for you
listening to his solo is like shoving your heart over a cliff *fangirl moment*
I don't play the guitar but I watch this over and over again anyways :)
Thanks syn I can play it perfect now due to this detailed lesson 🙃
When he played a power chord with his ring finger, that was an eye opener for me as an aspiring guitarist. I play, but I'm still learning. Also, he has VERY long fingers, I never realized.
That beautiful noise emanating from that amp makes my ear tubes feel as though theyve been touched by angels.
i like how he's playing it slowly too and it's STILL mindfuck
Ele joga a guitarra mt bem ^^
I totally luv that, syn is just amazing
He has a very strange picking style, almost Sarod like
7 years later lmao. i was gonna say the same thing, he holds his pick weird
@@OneRageyBoii thats my thought too, so weird how can he did faster with this picking style 😂
thats why its awsome so easy yet in depth.. youtry makin it up
wow he holds the pick weird but he has some pretty unique licks and solos
your sound of guitar is badass mr. gates !
every time i see him pick sweep i say to myself..... "i suck at guitar"
jesus christ i would have to watch this over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over just to get it!
Fuck, I play a Gibson Les Paul, only 22 frets
I just got a schecter syn gates standard used for christmas
Poor thing
Issei Araragi i play a stratocaster with 21 frets hahahah
Play Zacky's harmonies - they end up on 20th fret max.
If I could learn just that one THRASHING riff, just the riff, i would die a happy and accomplished man.
It's not hard. If you've played any metal you can probably get it down easy.
i love his tone here. anyone know how i can get this tone??
his tone is really bass heavy. scoop the mids a bit, not much treble. give it just enough gain to get that gritty hiss in your sound, because if you add more gain then it will end up sounding like old school thrash metal instead.
Get a bogner uberschall
Seymour Duncan Invaders
apparently youv'e never seen him do the solo live in concert
@THEAddictIT one funny thing is that this riff has winned an award for the best riff :D
What is his amp settings? I cant seem to get the right tone
i saw that guitar on display at the hard rock casino in vegas, along with the Rev's drum kit
Wait!! Where is Marlboro on his fingers??..This is rare video
this is just an old clip of him, seen this thousand times XD
This video is the first time I've ever seen Syn mess up a solo. He's still amazing. :)
No tattoos on his fingers. How strange to watch😂
if you watch this now you can hear how not so clean he played it , and if you watch the video where he dissected this song he even says that he couldn't even play some of these parts at all when he recorded this solo because he was too busy drinking and being a rockstar so he basically punched in every part. Glad that he is still awesome to this day.
this is cool but not a guitar lesson
If you know how to play, it pretty much is
It's more for those who need direction while learning it
Awesome guitar solo
ya dude thats awesome! thats his style-u gotta let him play how he likes to play-flowing with what his style is.
omfg... I would give ANYTHING to be able to play 0:35
Am I the only one who got the chills in his back when he played the solo?
love his tone
synyster gates is probaly one of 'thee' best guiarist in the worls ..... along with dimeag , R.I.P!
dude his tone is fucking sweet.
His picking technique is MUCH different than most guitarists, but it must be pretty good after some practice because he can obviously use it pretty well
Omg his picking is amazing
i LOVE that his fret board says SYN!!
whoa, this man is perfect
Great tone!
the solo was awesome
syns very talented!!
!!Mi Guitarrista Favorito!
@CarnaTiges713
Yup. Correct. A lot of heavy bands do double solos in harmony and it sounds fucking awesome
Man, i watch this, and i wan a cry because he's so amazing
This is not a "lesson", this is ass kicking.
He blows me away with his creativity....
one of the best guitarists :)
i love your guitar man!!!
I agree... this guy always seems to be playing whatever comes to mind, and he usually fucks up doing so
Few mess-ups, but heck, even in the slow alternative picking going down, he's so far the inspiration to me :)
this guy is a legend!
best living guitarist is right there
i love his tone :D
god he makes it look so effortless! i
I love how he screws up and then just corrects it without a word :P
syn is so awesome he even weres his shirt with his name on it.
true and he actually holds it in an odd way; its a way a certain teacher in cali tought it my guitar teacher had the same guy teach him and he tought me how to hold it my teacher live in ny now he just went to college in california
His guitar sounds so fuckin badass
Nice cover dude, how long have you been playing?
His guitar is so sweet
i have seen them so many times in the mags we get
i have a bit of an obsession with watching his fingers while he plays
*jaw dropped... I'm amazed*
his leg is vibin too
I've always wanted to play bass though. I got a free guitar and hardly practiced it. But learned a few basics.
hes my favorite guitarist of all time =D
God i love this man
I don't saw Slash, but i saw Synyster Gates. He is the new Slash.
Dude.. I've heard all the a7x song for ages..
But after I watched this, I immediately play out Beast and The Harlot Song to enjoy the starting guitar that are in 0:12 - 1:00 man..
It's is still enjoying though I've heard that song many times!!
Thank you for everything. You have earned yourself a sub! c:
yes ik. but i have been playing alot getting my band together and i have been getting a lot better a sweeping. if i learn sweeping for a song then its takes a little while to perfect it, but i can say i improved my sweeping alot
he makes it look so easy
It was pick harmonics. Its the pressure difference applied to string and fret to change the pitch and frequency of the send as to bend the sound upward
