We had a massive 180lb Newfoundland and of course he was a gentle giant, but no one got between him and our children. His name was fruit loops, my autistic son named him and he was very protective of him, he knew he needed extra care and attention. If he was having a hard time, fruit loops would lie next to him and calmed him down. I guess nowadays, he would have been considered a service animal for him, but this was the early 90’s and everyone just looked at him as a pet.
We had a Pekingese when I was younger that would try to protect me from my mother. I was in my twenties 6 ft 1 and mom was 5 foot 3! Your dog will always be your protector

Brought to the farm from a shelter where it had been returned four times, the owner a dog trainer worked with the dog. But it feared water. One day during training the family was in the pool when the dog felt a daughter was in danger. It walked down the ramp into the water, reached over and brought the girl to the ramp. Freddo was later adopted and is now the sheriff of the farm with its 20 dogs, 2 dingoes, 2 cats, 5 goats and two horses.

She would always join my in the shower, the bathroom, cooking and tried to go everywhere with me and was extremely protective to the point she would get aggressive when other people touched me. I loved her, but it was a bit much and was a problem at times. Don't antagonize or promote that kind of behavior put ofnyour dog like some of these videos do.
My 15 kilograms dog once defended my mom from 60 kilos one- and won. Bigger dog was chasing him, when they met on the walk- so he ran. My mom put her bike perpendicular to the path through the fields to stop him from chasing my mutt. Big dog bared his teeth at her. And that was it. My dog heard that, turned on his heel, flanked bigger dog, and bit him in the back of the thigh- my mom said it looked ridiculous- bigger dog running away, yelping, and my dog hanging off his ass, flying in the air like a flag, still growling, while his feet weren't touching the ground. He had weird sense of honor- "you chase me? I run! You chase my humans? I will fight you to the death! Preferably yours!" I miss that goof
if your dog doesn't think you can handle yourself he will try to help. so to weak owners who can not translate to their dogs who isn't a threat it is rather a backhanded compliment as his ruckus to protect you tells everyone you encounter, that you should not own a dog.
Looks like the man at 5.20 was just innocently walking. We women don't have the right to let our dogs bark at men while we say "Go go, can you just go". Men are allowed to walk down the street without getting barked at by large dogs and told to move on by women. Very annoying and entitled behaviour by that woman.
