They don’t show the manager coming around yelling about rates when you get nothing but large items because you’re stationed at the end of the line and everyone in front of you snatched up the small items.
Our line has a lot of large items, and most of us make sure to grab those heavy dog food bags so the person on the end doesn’t get them all. Definitely not fair.
It's okay, managers. Take it easy on the employees. Customers understand it's not an easy job. So if delivery will be a few days late, it'll be fine. Especially during this pandemic.
Working at an Amazon FC used to just be mentally and physically unhealthy. With COVID, it is now blatantly hazardous. Interesting that all the scenes are people working peacefully in open areas alone. Anyone who's worked at an FC knows it's not like that. It's a zoo of people working in high speed chaos in close quarters pumping out high volume work. Anyone not doing physical work is clustered up with a bunch of others because you can't communicate there unless you're within a couple feet, the noise level is extreme.
The 1st segment of the lady working in *Hazmat* @ the pace she is working... she is definitely *not making rate* ...lol (you must pack close to 2 boxes a min) Also the atmosphere is way more chaotic. You have to be less than 6 feet in order to communicate over the noise. But we ALL wear masks so the virus transmission risk is very low.
They tell you to work at that pace in front of camera. I remember a news station went to my facility and a friend of mine is picking at 600+ items an hour but when they filmed him he looked like he was picking at 40 items an hour lol.
They monitor your every move. Besides managers keeping a lookout for slower workers, they have tracking devices whuch can tell them how fast you work. In SG the average pay is SIN$15 per hour.
The guy using the pallet Jack is doing it the right way but not the correct way. Safety would say to use only one arm and to the side. Everyone does it the way the dude is doing in the video

Now show the REAL conditions of a fulfillment centre- Tired workers who arrive at early hours, and, as a result, look half-dead for most of the day, managers being complete arseholes who say that they "care about" their team when they care more about numbers, people being bored out of their tree and feeling miserable while trying their best not to show it, inventory work (You DO NOT want to do that, especially stocktake), dust, grime, filth, an EXTREMELY NEGATIVE atmosphere... The list goes on and on and on.
I like how they take hell and try to make it look cinematic and nice...
