Fostering is tough, I have foster for Southern CA Golden Retriever Rescue, and I fell in love with every dog I foster. Cried my heart out every time I gave them to a new home. Until one morning one of them with his golden eyes looked at me and said telepathy can I stay. Fortunately, I foster enough dogs that they let me adopt him. Love of my life, he pasted away at the age of 17yo this past March. So I am signing up to be a foster again. Nikki, your new dog is in love with you and you with him. This new guy touches us deeply. Mainly because he is the spitting image of our own rescue dog, Lucky. She is a 5yo lady now, but she behaved just the same way in the beginning. Saving animals in need is amazing. And the love they give back is even better. :D Thanks from Denmark for your content.

My first visit to Moab was 3 short days. I cried when I left. Three years later after I retired, we spent 7 weeks there. My heart aches every time you hang out there.

Nikki I have followed your adventures now for at least a few years…your love for animals is boundless…I’ve also followed Lee Asher at the Asher House…it would seem natural that your paths have crossed at some point but if not you need to make your way to Estacada Or and see what he and his dog sanctuary are all about…hundreds of acres…60-80 dogs…horses…cats…all rescue animals…it would so be worth a visit the next time you’re back on the west coast…keep up the great work you’re doing with rescue animals and let all of us continue to follow your road adventures ….

Glad to see I'm not the only one who takes great pride in my four kids artwork on the windows. On Amazon they have collapsible/foldable 5 gallon square jugs. There a rounded Corner square but Square. That would give you some water for personal use at least unless you're like us and I go through a gallon a day in Winter and in summer about 2.

There isn’t a chance I would EVER have been able to take him back to the Shelter. He quite obviously loves you!
It’s a requirement to bring him back for them to get all procedures and neutering or they won’t let him get adopted :-)

Moab is great for dog owners. Many of the restaurants are dog friendly. And the beer cheese soup at the local brewery is brilliant.

What kind of surgery did he have? Was he just being neutered?
As someone who has fostered cats on/off throughout her life (I tend to do a stint for two years before I get the courage to foster fail/adopt)... it takes a special mindset to be able to foster for a decent length of time as well as a knowing ways to process the grief. Creating little rituals to say good bye to one and to welcome in another. I learned a good 24 hour period for me to have time to slowly transition everything (clean) helped me.
Loved how much fun the dogs have on these hikes. I’d dream of more hikes in my life!!! 🖤 you are a inspiration Nikki 🖤

It's so amazing to watch a rescue dog slowly realize they are with "safe" people, and begin to trust them. Makes me so sad for all the ones that are still out there. We have 2 rescues right now, would also have 650 million if we could.
My mother in law passed away about 5 weeks ago and instead of taking her poodle to the shelter we adopted her. I now am a mom to three doggos!❤️

Just a sad situation when a “ parent “ dies and their pets have to go to a shelter . The trauma has to be horrible

That little foster you took in reminds me so much of a dog we adopted in Vegas from the 'dog pound' decades ago...best family dog...ever...truly....what a 'look-alike' and same disposition...if someone gets the opportunity to adopt...don't hesitate.

My friend Harry and I were in Moab years ago and you are right, it is a great place with lots to do! We had dinner at an Italian Restaurant where we were sitting outside watching the people go by. We also went to the National Parks, Arches, Canyonlands and Dead Horse Point. We were told to go to Moab by a young couple when we were across the state and they told us we would not be disappointed. They were right!

You need a submersible sump pump. All u need to do is plug it in connect a water hose to it put the pump in the water & you can fill your water tank with natural spring water.
A bucket and transfer pump would work to fill up at the spring

Your foster reminded me of the best dog I've ever had. His name was Comanche and came with his sister , Cherokee, from a flea market in Naples , NY where two kids had them advertised for free. Comanche was shaped like a big Dachshund , he had the markings of the one you had without the white markings on the chest. The ex and I took Comanche while the in laws took Cherokee. The ex got the dogs, 10 years later turns out the ex lived 20 minutes from me in a different state. Comanche remembered me and didn't leave my side for a minute when we were together during visits. 773K , lets get 3 k more this week,spread the word!

Always love the videos. I have three dogs and in our van and house we have inexpensive Black and Decker hand vacs. They are great to when I'm free run a quick vac around the van to keep things clean or control fur when the dogs are blowing out their coats. Between combing. No bags to dump. Just clean out the filter and you are good to go.
