We have made about 20+ mold projects with Chinese suppliers so far. You should consider suppliers experience and greediness as the most important factor)) I can tell you for sure you can have 4x time cheaper mold for the same project if you choose right supplier because many just charge you more because your are not local client and probably don’t know real cost. I disagree that aluminum or steel makes any difference as the mold cost is always about work not the material cost. If you want to reduce cost just try to get away from the number of parts rather than complexity as it always cheaper to add extra runner rather then making a mold for an extra part. Also one more thing is missing in this video. If your annual production below 30k-50k pcs it makes sense to put several parts in one cavity. You will save 50% of the mold cost if you put parts of the same volume and material in one cavity. Probably your supply won’t tell you that if you don’t ask)
@@PotatoGin I'm curious to why an aluminum mold stock would cost as much as P20 steel mold stock as I can get the same sized block of aluminum for about 1/4th the price of p20 steel and the carbide cost is much lower for cutting an aluminum mold compared to a steel one. Maybe my steel supplier is a dick and overcharges me.
I didnt even think that the online costs calculator would exist! I get an hope from this that my work will get better.
Thanks for the Tips!

hey can you share any of these suppliers? I just got my first offer from a supplier and it was way above my budget
shouldn't the customer be paying for the material by volume and not weight?
It’s sold by weight

I guess it depends on the alloy?
