Now I REALLY want to see this jellical flick. I really wanted to see it in the theatre but I was in Japan at the time and as you may or may not know, drugs are illegal there. Very illegal. I heard a lot of talk about how horny the cats were acting in this. Fun story: We’re past the age to have any more kids but my wife still has baby fever. We have a female cat and recently got a male kitten that is now coming of age. When the female goes into heat it gets downright disturbing. They wait for everyone to go to bed (but me) and then go at it; making as much direct eye contact with me as possible. To make matters worse, she’ll take a turn with him, walk over to me and meow with a body language that says “your turn”. 🤮 So far no kittens but I do have some brand new nightmares. This was a great one Mike! Thanks for the laughter!
@@OnMyMindEntertainment Yeah, if you want to talk about a big difference between cars and dogs; when dogs mate they look like teenagers trying to figure out how to do it. Cats act like they’re at one of those parties with a bowl full of keys...
"The play made 4 billion dollars." "Well I mean we have to try to squeeze a movie out of that!" You know that happened. I can just see that really happening in the actual pitch meeting for this. LOL
Both were great, seriously. Ryan George nails the "it made so much money, we have to squeeze a movie out of it" and the "competing for death" parts perfectly, though :D
Ryan George is really awesome with his pitches. I like how Honest Trailers deep dives into the behind the scenes of films. But Pitch Meetings are funnier. Enjoyed the video👍🏽
This is the first time that i don't know wich one chose, they were both really good, i loved the singing in the Honest Trailers one, and i loved every single line in the Pitch Meeting one.
“See, there’s a bad cat with magic powers.” - Oh, so it’s gonna be hard to defeat him if he has magic powers. “Actually, it’s gonna be super easy barely an Inconvenience.” - Oh, really? “Yeah. See, there’s this other good cat who has magic powers to defeat the villain because I decided it did” - Well, great! 😂
"Jellicle," I can explain... maybe. Years and years ago, I was listening to a radio talk show while driving home from work - this is while CATS was still on Broadway - and one of the cast-members was a guest. I wasn't particularly interested at the time, but they did mention that "...Jellicle..." was a shortening of "...jolly little..." and IIRC that was something that T.S. Elliot's children used to say. Again, I was not really paying too much attention, but that's what I remember, and it seems viable. As far as all of the other weird things, such as why there is an apparent sorcerer's duel between feline-Baron Samedi and feline-Superfly, or why Jenny What's-Her-Name has an army of damned souls, or the Flying Chandelier of Death, or... you're all on your own.
It's just childhood nonsense. I don't understand why people need the word to be defined. When I was a kid, I used to love silly, weird, undefined things like that. It's not that hard for me to tap back into that. But a lot of adults' brains seem to be very fixed and rigid.
@@rome8180 - I never saw the musical, nor the movie, nor ever wanted to. I was just relaying what I'd heard on the radio one day, and it seems to fit. Frankly, I find the word "Jellicle" to be the least weird part of whatever it was that I'd watched in this video.
Apparently this really is a direct adaptation of Cats (the musical) and, as Ryan mentions, it belonged on Broadway and not anywhere close to the big screen. (Dog person 100% which means when I encounter a cat, it crawls right into my lap because cats are evil and they know I don't like them)
I feel like every delivery person feels like that about a lot of dogs, because many of them bark like crazy at everything that approaches or that they hear from a distance particularly small dogs that yap at everything that moves. Cats actually did help reduce the spread of disease and protect our food. And there’s that video of a cat fighting off a rabid dog that was attacking a kid, there’s quite a few videos like that of cats defending their property against much larger creatures. Or that one of the cat bringing a cellphone to an elderly guy who fell over, or the stories of cats detecting health issues and pestering the owner to alert them they have a heart issue or something by like sitting right on that area over and over until the owner gets that the cat feels like something is wrong.
Though this is a play, it’s not actual cats. If they had actual cats doing it it would probably be even more successful, training actual cats to sing or sing/meow show tunes and dance. And cats are like the most iconic things online, people love cat videos so there’s that element. Ryan George would probably like that play more, he’s a cat guy.
Although I thought the parody of "CATS" in Honest Trailers was hilarious, I once again have to upvote Pitch Meeting; it voiced my confusion as to why this movie was ever made. I have always thought of myself as a cat person; I'm rethinking that.
This would have been a perfect video to throw in Ryan's "First Guy To Ever Own A Cat"! It's excellent. I've not seen this movie, but I'm grateful for the reviews it generated because the it's so entertaining to watch the reviewers squirm and laugh at the memory of the film.
oh shit i'm very first, sweet deal - happy and safe weekend. also everybody that worked on that movie, watched the final product and thought, 'yeah, this is great!'
When I went to go see cats and they started singing about jellical cats at the end of the song I was just like "am I stupid or something, I still don't know what it is XD"
I saw this movie in theaters by myself , and like the Honest Trailer suggested, I was high off my ass and I had a great time. It was only like 10 other people in that theater, and I was consistently awestruck by the bizarre display before. I own this movie on digital and I get hammered every once in a while and watch it.
Absolutely agree. One of my favorite past times use to be dragging friends to go see bad movies so we could trash them and laugh. It was my own homage to Mystery Science Theater 3000. Ninja Assassin, cowboys vs aliens and lost in translation were some of favorites. Couldn't get anyone to go see Cats though. Loved the play when I was a child, still haven't seen the movie though. With no one to trash it with what's the point. Great vid!
I know cats seem like small, fairly harmless fur babies but they can actually deal some major damage. So it's a good thing that real cats don't know that they were portrayed like this. They'd probably kill us in our sleep. Cats, if nothing else, are very dignified and wouldn't appreciate being presented as nightmare fuel.
I happen to have seen the Broadway play, it was phenomenal. Had absolutely NO interest in seeing the movie and didn't (thank goodness). I wasn't at all surprised by how bad it was. The songs spoofed in this video are very ingenious!!
If you want a real battle royale with these things, you could add "HISHE" (How it should have ended) to the mix :) My first suggestion would be the one they did on Logan.
That is one of the best Honest Trailers I have seen, I like how the did it a little different. I'm giving my vote to Pitch Meeting though cause Ryan hit on all the messed up points about the movie. Also, I am a cat person, but have dogs too.
I haven't seen the movie, but I did see the stage performance when I was 12, back when CATS was a new Broadway mega-hit. I guess I won't rush out to see the movie now, but I'm having a hard time understanding how it was ever successful as a stage production back in the day given the reactions to the movie that we're seeing today. All the same flaws in the Pitch Meeting seem to be true of the original musical as well. I've been wondering for 30+ years what "Jellicle" means.
He's not just one person. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of clones of George Ryan. Here is the "proof": th-cam.com/video/Uh0PGUZxt-U/w-d-xo.html. 😉
Definitely a cat person. I hear barking from every 2nd house in the neighborhood. Cats are low maintenance and independent, yet still loyal. Plus, I am not comfortable with the idea one's pet has to be imprisoned in a tank, cage, or leash. I do have an appreciation for Alaskan Malemeus, Huskies, and German Shepherds.
Cat person here. I grew up with cats and love that Ryan George has a cat that obviously adores him. Also, PM take the cake for me on this one. It’s been one of my top five PMs for a minute. And yeah, the movie Cats was one of the oddest viewing experiences I’ve ever had. 🤦🏾♂️
One of my friends and I had been going to the theater a lot before covid, and now I wish I would have dragged him to see this. We had a similarly great theater experience seeing the latest Robin Hood movie with Taran Egerton. So many things wrong with that movie which made it fun to laugh at with someone.
thanks for taking my suggestion 😁 to be honest, i've never seen the movie but base on reviews, it makes me curious but at the same time i also felt cringe. someday i'll have the strength to watch this 😂😂😂 by the way, dogs are tight 😂
That was a fun reaction; I haven't seen Cats but I feel like watching it with someone else who shares your sense of humor is really the only way to do it because otherwise, yeah, you'll just turn it off. As for the dog v cat person thing, I grew up a dog person, who ended up with (and loving) cats thanks to the combination of apartment living and meeting a partner with a feline companion. And as far as being a dog/cat person goes, I can definitely say liking cats in real life will absolutely not make you more inclined to like this horror show of a movie!
I’ve never seen this movie. Never will but I thoroughly enjoyed pitch meeting😂. I’m a dog person, I currently have three dogs at moment planning on getting more some day.
I was told that Jellical is like the name of this "clan" of cats or something like that. At least that's what I was told, I'm not interested in looking it up to confirm.
Jellicle is a type of cat, according to TS Elliot's poetry, primarily Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats. That's what the play is based on. That's also why the show is basically all intro songs, because they're characters from poems. As for Jellicle, it's from an unpublished poem, "Pollicle Dogs and Jellicle Cats", where "Pollicle dogs" is a corruption of "poor little dogs" and "Jellicle cats" of "dear little cats."
@@WelcomeApathy Well that explains why they don't provide any Jellical context. But then how is the moon Jellical? Is the moon actually a collosal cat? Is the moon cat their God that demands sacrifices and Old Deuteronomy is providing these willing sacrifices, giving Jellical cats the false promise of new life!? I might actually watch that movie.
I love and completely adore cats, I mean the actual animal. I have 2 cats with my husband, and I wish I could have even more kitties. However, I didn’t watch the movie cats not even once, just saw trailers, reactions and reviews. Cuz I couldn’t put myself though something as horrific as this movie, even though I’m crazy about cats. It’s truly ... I don’t even have a word to describe how it looks, it’s...horrifyingly jellicle...
I saw this movie in theaters. Now, I am a Broadway geek. I love Broadway and musicals. I like most movie musicals. But - I had to close my eyes through a lot of this movie because it just kept breaking my brain, lmao. Now, the Broadway play doesn't make much more sense than this. In fact, a bit less. They tried to make it more cohesive in the film with Victoria's character being pulled along the story in order to lead the audience, which the play does not have. It is basically just a bunch of intro songs, some action with McCavity, and then the end. So, the movie got that all right. But the Uncanny Valley aspect of the film made it literally unwatchable. Here I thought Polar Express was disturbing to watch, then they pull this out. The ears! Argh, I was nauseated by the visuals. If they had either kept it like the stage costumes (you know, actual costumes) or had made it fully animated, it might have been salvageable. Maybe. Idk. I have to say, I'm not the biggest fan of the stage show. It honestly has too much dance and not enough singing for me to consider it a good Broadway show. That said, I like a lot of the songs. The movie got a lot right based on the stage show. It just increased all the bad parts and then made it disgusting to see. I hate that it was bad, because it hurts the movie musical. But I do enjoy the parody stuff that came from it. HT was funny. But Pitch Meeting killed it. The Jellicle hypnosis was hilarious. Just every joke hit. It was one of his best, imo. Anyway, I like your reaction and comments about your experience with it. I agree that friends can make seeing bad movies fun. I saw Ghostrider starring N Cage with friends and we had an awesome time at such a bad, bad movie! At least some enjoyment can come from things like this.
You're the first person to explain the similarities between the play and movie! I didn't know the Victoria character wasn't in the play. I'm with you on changing the medium that was used here. Probably would have done much better if it was an animated film.
Before you said I was thinking making Cats into a movie is one giant, expensive "What where thinking!!?". It's works as bright colorful musical, sometimes, and the song Memories is beautiful; but I never liked the T. S. Eliot book with it's bizarre verbiage that it's based on. Uh Oh You said "Then you get the end when Jennifer Hudson is put on a chandelier air balloon to her death''. That's such a jellicle thing for anyone who have to utter. I think you need to detox, find something to watch that makes sense for at ten minutes. Like sending your shocked brain to a mind spa. It's needs pampering. Both of these are great. I love what Honest Trailers did musically, it was awesome. Ryan was at his finest, including the shoulder movements. They both win. I keep things on list just for laughs, this one goes there because I can get both in one place. I'm definitely a cat person, always loved tigers lions etc. Some children want ponies, I wanted a dragon or a cave lion. Settled for the meanest feline that walked on four feet. She was a feral stray. I loved that bada** cat. One day in clear patch near the trees some strays and ferals where lying around in the sun. She came out the bushes, strutted up to each one and give them a hard whack just to remind them who was in charge. Didn't beak her stride , kept walking. That one was the one I wanted. All of our pet cats were rescued strays and ferals . Growing up in a wooded area, people from the nearest city would dump unwanted cats and dogs in the woods. Likely thinking they'd' survive because there was abundant small game. That not the case most. I have a way with cats and could get along with the meanest ferals. They'd often accompany me on my hikes through the woods. I would pet ones that would shred to pieces anyone else. Being a cat person comes naturally. I was always the one trained our dogs, including the huge Great Dane. The one exception when I was growing up, was a German Shepard once owned by a retired police officer. She was not a police dog; but was well trained because he did security work also. I like dogs though, two of my favorite channels for laughs, relaxation and to get away all the messes we're living through are K'eyush the Stunt Dog and Sherpa.
Just subscribed through another login - that's how good you are and how much fun it is to watch with you. As I shared in a previous post and what you touched on here, you make viewing this content even more fun because I am "sitting" next to someone who loves this creative work as much as I do. No need to enter me into the contest, your laughter and reactions are prize enough :) - oh...and cannot wait until you do WW84 from Pitch Meeting.
I always considered myself a dog person, but finally ended up having a cat and do not regret it. Probably because I am too lazy and cat can pretty much take care about itself without my involvement 😄
That is the upside of cats. Dogs do require more pampering. I just like that dogs make you feel like they need you. Cats sometimes at like they don't give a craps about their owners, lol!!
@@OnMyMindEntertainment Probably because their ancestors were treated as gods by the Egyptians so they inherited their traits lol. And some cats actually care about the owners, there was this news about a house on fire and a family cat actually woke the family up instead of just abandoning them. Some care about their owners but they are just SO lazy.
@@OnMyMindEntertainment I like animals in general but the existence of this movie makes me refrain from cats a bit. That’s how bad it was. I didn’t pay a single cent to watch this movie. I just wanted to stream it and I couldn’t make it halfway through.
I know that's how it would've been if I went to the theater alone. There were a couple moments we looked at eachother trying to see if the other person wanted to leave.
Wow, another great one from Honest Trailers! Killing it! I still think Pitch Meeting wins this one though. HT went on a bit too long with the song lol. Either way, having not seen this movie and only having seen the HT and the PM, this was sufficiently horrifying, and I will never watch this movie haha! And I grew up a dog person, and still am- absolutely love dogs, but I also like cats now. They are assholes, but they are easier to take care of lol.
i was vaguely aware that the cats broadway thing existed.....and then i learned about the movie.....and then i watched some reviews.....so glad i never watched the movie.....
I have only seen the play, and i absolutely hated it. I was so confused, so when they announced this movie i was like "fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me" :D So i´m so happy it was a huge loss for the compagny. It deserves nothing but hate. The play is trying to tell some sorta story, but all i got from it was like "heres this cat" and "heres this cat" and then it ended
This was an awesome reaction. If you haven't watched it, I recommend you hop onto Film Theory and see Matt Pat's theory about this movie and brainwashing/cults. It's fun.
Good gawd. Definitely Pitch Meeting this round, and that isn't even my bias talking. I just hate musicals in general, Honest Trailers overdid the singing. I don't care if it's comedic in nature. It annoyed me. I had to skip to your reaction to the Pitch Meeting lol. I can only tolerate musicals so much (with the exception of Greatest Show, which wasn't too bad)
After infinity war, can you do the endgame trailer and far from home trailer pitch meetings? Also the endgame re-release pitch meeting and honest trailer for the mcu? Also Spider man leaving the mcu pitch meeting?
watch hewbies halloween with someone, because i watched it by myself and thought it was really bad, but then i discussed it with a friend who watched it and it was more fun mocking it
@@OnMyMindEntertainment I can't remember that 'cause I was a kid forced to watch it in chorus, but I'm sure they didn't say it as much as they do here.
If they went they way hamilton did it might have been better tbh. For those who haven't seen hamilton they basically did the play and recorded the play act for act, at least that is the way it seemed
Mephistopheles is the name of Satan in Goethes Faust. So the cats got saved by Satan. But judging by the whole death thing it only make sense that this cats are satanists xD
I still wanna watch Cats one day, out of pure morbid curiosity ... but every time I work up my courage I find a gazillion things better to do ... sorting salt crystals by size, for example.
P.P.S: I have had multiple cats over the years, never a dog, but I would not consider myself a cat person. That feels like an entirely unnecessary distinction like Marvel vs. DC, Rolling Stones vs. Beatles. I love both, but never had time to care for a dog adequately (going on walks etc.). Cats are lot less demanding in that regard.
Now I REALLY want to see this jellical flick. I really wanted to see it in the theatre but I was in Japan at the time and as you may or may not know, drugs are illegal there. Very illegal.

Thanks!!! 😀
I actually love how he can like “this movie was so bad I’ve only seen in three times.
One of my friends and I had been going to the theater a lot before covid, and now I wish I would have dragged him to see this. We had a similarly great theater experience seeing the latest Robin Hood movie with Taran Egerton. So many things wrong with that movie which made it fun to laugh at with someone.
When you have someone else to laugh with it makes these moments so much better
I watched it for the first time recently and it was through my fingers🤦🏼♀️never done that with a movie before.
😂🤣😂🤣😂
thanks for taking my suggestion 😁
to be honest, i've never seen the movie but base on reviews, it makes me curious but at the same time i also felt cringe. someday i'll have the strength to watch this 😂😂😂
by the way, dogs are tight 😂
Definitely!! This was a good one!! 🤣😂🤣😂
All you need to do is get so drunk that you only remember the feeling of relief after it's over
😂🤣😂🤣
Yeah, these movies are the best ways to experience this thing, lol!!
What kind of dogs?
tbf, if I was a cat in this movie, I would be very ecstatic to meet my doom
I never saw it, in theaters or otherwise, as one glimpse of the trailer was enough to haunt my dreams for months. And I'm a cat guy.
This reaction was very jellicle
The Honest Trailer was like Honest Trailers meets Bad Lip Reading, haha! :p
nice to know that this is ryan george's favorite pitch meeting!
I guess you could say this movie was so jellicle
I guess? 🤷🏿♂️ LOL!!
I was told that Jellical is like the name of this "clan" of cats or something like that. At least that's what I was told, I'm not interested in looking it up to confirm.
🤣😂🤣
😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
We must know @MoonpoetessZ!!!
We must know!!! 😂🤣
The 0.01% of people that admit they saw this movie. I might watch it high, but I'm afraid I'd wake up twenty years later in an insane asylum.
That honestly may be the best way to watch this one, LOL!
LOL!!!!! Horrifyingly Jellicle is the "purrfect" way to explain it! LOL!!!!
If they made a horror movie based on Cats, it would be a spectacular
I'd watch that! LOL!
0:57 Lmao imagine tom Hooper sold his soul to get an oscar, and this movie is what satan got out of the deal
Now that's the head cat!! 😂🤣😂
Pitch meeting was the best
Dogs are like boys and cats are like girls. Dogs are loyal and cats are emotional. That's the best way I can put it.
🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
I'm a hardcore fan of the musical and I have very complicated opinions about this movie
Jellical jellycal jellicel jellycel !
😂🤣😂
They both tied in my opinion 🤣😂
😀👍🏿
Just subscribed through another login - that's how good you are and how much fun it is to watch with you. As I shared in a previous post and what you touched on here, you make viewing this content even more fun because I am "sitting" next to someone who loves this creative work as much as I do. No need to enter me into the contest, your laughter and reactions are prize enough :) - oh...and cannot wait until you do WW84 from Pitch Meeting.
Oh wow!!! That's so cool!! I really appreciate that!!! Yes, Wonder Woman 1984 will be done soon. Hoping Honest Trailers does theirs next week.
@@OnMyMindEntertainment That would be even better....Hopefully they do not lag on it...looking forward to it with ya :)
@@matthewgrills7200 Hopefully they do it on Tuesday! *Fingers Crossed*
@@OnMyMindEntertainment
Probably because their ancestors were treated as gods by the Egyptians so they inherited their traits lol. And some cats actually care about the owners, there was this news about a house on fire and a family cat actually woke the family up instead of just abandoning them. Some care about their owners but they are just SO lazy.
😂🤣😂🤣
There’s no question about this one.
Hahaha
This Pitch Meeting is the most fun and enjoyment I’m ever going to have with this abomination of a movie.
As it should be.
This was a really jellicle reaction
😂🤣😂
Who the hell did they get to do all those parody songs?
They actually sounded really good.
The moon is jellicle too, I decided.
Oh, really? Why?
Because.
That works.
😂🤣🤣😂🤣
@@OnMyMindEntertainment
I like animals in general but the existence of this movie makes me refrain from cats a bit. That’s how bad it was. I didn’t pay a single cent to watch this movie. I just wanted to stream it and I couldn’t make it halfway through.
🤣😂🤣😂🤣
I know that's how it would've been if I went to the theater alone. There were a couple moments we looked at eachother trying to see if the other person wanted to leave.
Props to honest trailer for all of the singing but I think they could have been funnier
I felt the same way! Felt like it was going on forever!
That's been the consensus on the cat love so far, their easier to care for. Makes sense. Dogs require more maintenance
That honest trailer was pretty jellicle ngl
😂🤣😂
i was vaguely aware that the cats broadway thing existed.....and then i learned about the movie.....and then i watched some reviews.....so glad i never watched the movie.....
I just realized that the characters say the word “gellicle” like Smurfs use the word “smurf”
😂😆😂
I have only seen the play, and i absolutely hated it. I was so confused, so when they announced this movie i was like "fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me" :D So i´m so happy it was a huge loss for the compagny. It deserves nothing but hate. The play is trying to tell some sorta story, but all i got from it was like "heres this cat" and "heres this cat" and then it ended
So pretty much the same in the movie. It was so odd.
I'm a lizard guy. I love my little beardie!
🤣😂🤣
You gotta give it to honest trailer, for the first time ever 😮
😂
They did their thing with those songs. They overdid it a little, lol.
The Greatest Showman is my family's favorite musical.
Jingle Jangle on Netflix is pretty good too since it's similar just in a Christmas setting.
To this very day I am still trying to erase the fucking word Jellicle from my fragile little mind.
😂😆😂😆
Indiana jones and the kingdom of the crystal skull PM is funny as wel
After infinity war, can you do the endgame trailer and far from home trailer pitch meetings? Also the endgame re-release pitch meeting and honest trailer for the mcu? Also Spider man leaving the mcu pitch meeting?
All on deck and being worked on 😀👍🏿
@@OnMyMindEntertainment thanks my guy
Please react to Honest Trailers and Pitch Meetings for Fast and the Furious movies.
😀👍🏿
I'm so sorry that you saw this in the theater
LOL!!! It was actually really fun seeing it with a friend. If I was by myself, it would've been torture.
watch hewbies halloween with someone, because i watched it by myself and thought it was really bad, but then i discussed it with a friend who watched it and it was more fun mocking it
i think your the only person who watched it in the theater. cats rule dogs drool.
I left 20 minutes into the movie
I would've probably left even earlier than that, you're definetely more brave than me, and i LOVE horror movies!!!
😂🤣😂🤣😂
Notice that Victoria is supposed to be a kitten with the body of a shapely woman :(
😂🤣
I can't even finish watching Honest Trailer "Cats" because it clip the movie
I hope Pitch meeting and Honest Trailer do Hamilton
Damn singing.
But Jellicle was a malaproper that T.S. ran with as a cute name for the cats, but the movie just kind of killed it.
It felt really overly said, LOL!! Wasn't sure if it was the same in the Broadway musical
@@OnMyMindEntertainment I can't remember that 'cause I was a kid forced to watch it in chorus, but I'm sure they didn't say it as much as they do here.
Never watched the full movie, i watched 5 minutes on tv...it was enough
If they went they way hamilton did it might have been better tbh.
For those who haven't seen hamilton they basically did the play and recorded the play act for act, at least that is the way it seemed
Maybe. I think it would have probably been more tolerable
Mephistopheles is the name of Satan in Goethes Faust. So the cats got saved by Satan. But judging by the whole death thing it only make sense that this cats are satanists xD
😂🤣😂🤣
Kitty cats rule 😼
🤣😂
I still wanna watch Cats one day, out of pure morbid curiosity ... but every time I work up my courage I find a gazillion things better to do ... sorting salt crystals by size, for example.
P.S.: I guess making an animated movie with ... well ... cats instead of these human/cat hybrid abominations was too obvious?
P.P.S: I have had multiple cats over the years, never a dog, but I would not consider myself a cat person. That feels like an entirely unnecessary distinction like Marvel vs. DC, Rolling Stones vs. Beatles. I love both, but never had time to care for a dog adequately (going on walks etc.). Cats are lot less demanding in that regard.
I will say, that is one pro when it comes to cats. They do their own thing.
