I was at a Christmas party yesterday, and we had a music quiz. Out of maybe 50-100 songs, I couldn't name a single one of them or score a single point in the quiz. Everyone knew these songs except me, it was getting pretty awkward in the end. Why couldn't I answer? Because I listen almost exclusively to cinematic music and soundtracks. The most normal genre of music I can mention I listen to, is probably Japanese alternative rock music. Sometimes I'm like, why don't I listen to 'normal'/popular music, what is wrong with me? But I don't regret a single moment of it. It's like I have this secret world of my own that nobody knows about. There's nothing like the subtle changes in the dance between various instruments and sounds that flow into my ears. It's art, and it's alive. And you, my fellow silent listeners, have exquisite taste.
I'm just like you. I have a lot of difficulty in adapting to my friends' music taste, especially when we are stuck in traffic in the car, it becomes unbearable.
I can relate. When people ask you want kind of music you like it can be hard to name a specific genre or artist, although it can lead to some interesting discussions.
The best advice in life... Isolation is dangerous, except, if you have means for information... so you now can get further... Don't mind reading this comment, you got gold at every tic of the clock... Without any system to mess with the input...
it's not about isolation. you can have a bunch of people around you and still feel isolated. that's what i feel lol. you have a mother who you can talk to at any time, a father, siblings, etc. and you'll feel isolated. but you are right, isolation is very dangerous.
