Thanks for that reaction. That song is a bop. The whole album is perfect. She wanted to show that she is not just that “high note” girl that too many ppl expect her to sing. She loves jazz and r&b. I think that album is the real Wendy, different vibes than what SM and RV are usually doing for her. She is not just a ballad singer. Airport Goodbyes or the fabulous duet with sunwoojunga (on song stealer) are marvelous songs that fit her so well. Some singers, like Wendy are bigger than the little box in which some “fans” tried to lock her in. Love your reaction. ❤
I don't think that the song is about saying bye to your past self, but more bye to the perfect image, being perfect, always smiling, being like a perfect living doll, of others want you or force you to be. Like being tired to be that perfect image that you hate and that the others want to be and finally throw it away and be the real you, the you that you want to be. That is what the lyrics say clearly.
Yeah, but all those things your'e describing (perfect image, always smiling, etc.) ARE what made up and defined her past self to whom she's saying goodbye, so I don't see how Kaia's interpretation is wrong. You seem to be making the same point, just phrasing it slightly differently.
@@megagene yeah, I say similar things but my different main point is that the perfect image is more the image that the others want Wendy to be, force her to be, anybody would hate the person the other persons force you to be. Like in the lyrics it say ‘ don’t get mad, they say’ it not Past Wendy who don’t want to get herself mad it’s THEY. For me the song is about Wendy saying bye to the perfect Image that THEY wanted her, forced her to be. There are important nuance here. Not sure if you all understood the nuance here, thought or if you understood how I explained it.
I love love love the lyrics. I actually didn't pay attention to them in the first watch (and subsequent listens) so finding out their meaning now is so cool. The song is amazing, the melodies and Wendy's heavenly vocals are so beautiful.
I like the song but it sounds like a generic pop song that anyone could have sung. Fully support wendy trying different genres. Not listened to the songs on the album yet.
