I had to Google his name to see what came up and I'm 100% sure that there is another Howard Berg from Iowa. This Howard Berg, you are right...his accent is undeniably from the Northeast. He did mention his early years in the beginning of the interview, and how he grew up in the projects of Brooklyn, and spent most of his time at the library, where it was safe...leading him to become known as The World's Fastest Reader.
