Is this guy fucking high or something Danganronpa 2 goodbye despair is my favourite game in my life and when someone said that word I want to hit him so hard because dr2 is a best
The problem with Danganronpa 2 is also the main reason why people love it: Nagito He carried the game so hard and his charisma is so strong every character gets sucked into a vacuum by proxy, and since he is not shrouded in mystery like Kokichi, he needs screen time to make sure you are able to understand him towards the end, however Kodaka can't write 16 Nagito's and thus we end up with so much canon fooder as characters, it's especially evident in DR2, while i personally believe Kodaka has problems creating females as compelling as Nagito and Kokichi (Kyoko was a lightning in a bottle cuz Maki ain't it) they were still entertaining compared to the ones in DR2.
I agree with most of this. But I would disagree that Nagito's screen time inherently causes the game to have a ton of "cannon fodder" characters (if that's the point you're trying to make, sorry if I misinterpreted this comment). Nagito plays very minor roles in Chapters 2 and 3, and a lot of time could've been spent developing other characters, that is barely used to do so. It's pretty much just Fuyuhiko that gets any meaningful character development during that time. I also don't have an issue with having a lot of cannon fodder characters - Nekomaru barely contributes to the game yet he's still one of my favorite characters. IMO, the less important characters need to be likeable or entertaining, or have at least something interesting about them for me to enjoy their presence, and I found most of Danganronpa 2's side cast to be either boring or annoying. I personally don't like Kokichi, but that is mostly personal preferences. I will agree that in general his screen time is handled better than Nagito's was.
I don’t remember that but my mind was also numbed by Junko’s talking so I’ll take your word for it. I definitely should’ve checked that before writing that in the video, but I really wanted my head cannon to be the case so I guess I just didn’t.
Tbh in my opinion the strongest point of SDR2 were the investigations while the weakest one was well...I'll be honest I do not like SDR2's gameplay, having to constantly look up playthroughs cause the Nonstop Debates were sometimes just unbearable. In THH, Nonstop Debates were pretty good and simple, but GOD do they suck in this game, like, why give us so many truth bullets? It's gonna take ages before I get to the one I want.
I'd give this game a similar grade I gave the first game which would be a C+. I don't think it is outright bad but it is definitely overrated by most of the fans. I feel like it's highly debatable and splitting hairs on whether the first or second danganronpa game is better as both have similar positives and negatives. (Most of the cast of the first game were not good either let's be honest.) But the first 2 danganronpa games were significantly better than everything that came after them. Ultra despair girls, part 3 of the anime, and V3 killing harmony were mostly terrible.
@@lightning2279 I agree they have similar positives and negatives, but I felt the first game’s negatives weren’t nearly as bad as they were in 2 most of the time, especially the cast. Most were not good in the first game, but I felt more neutral towards the characters overall rather than outright disliking them.
It’s not wrong and I stand by it. When I said that, I was talking about pre-Chapter 6 (don’t remember if I specified that or not). Before the reveal I literally didn’t like anything about him.
@@semicolin367 Yeah, I'm not saying you're wrong for not liking him but saying he has no character traits is just so wrong it doesn't even need to be elaborated on. Hajime obviously has some.
@Seth_blessingSozo I don’t remember saying he has no character traits, and if I did, that’s not what I meant. My point was that pretty much every character trait he has is shared by Makoto or Shuichi, when I don’t find the inverse to be true. And the differences between them and Hajime are the main reasons I like both of them. I just honestly did not feel attached to Hajime much at all, but looking back the specific comment I made about not caring about the decision he had to make in Chapter 6 was probably inaccurate because it did actually make me feel for him a bit. I can totally see why people like him, but I just didn’t find him very interesting to see on screen at all.
@@semicolin367 Except that it's wrong. I don't even have to go further than the prologue to see one of his unique trait: how cautious he is. He's the only one in the cast to be wary of the school trip. And also, unlike the other protags, he's not scared to stand up for himself and doesn't take anyone's sh*t. Even though I also prefer Shuichi to him, I can clearly see he has a more forward personality than him.
@@Seth_blessingSozo Sure, he’s more cautious and forward than the other protagonists, I’ll agree to that. But neither of those traits make him endearing or interesting to me. Like I said, the reason I like the other protagonists are the differences they have from Hajime. Makoto’s kind of just a loveable dweeb who sees the best in everyone, and I really enjoyed playing as him for that reason (also helped by his great and extremely fitting English voice acting). Shuichi, as I’ll go into during my V3 review that’ll release in 5 years once I finally force myself to finish the game again, I appreciate for being a lot more reserved and capable than the other two thanks to him being the main case solver rather than being carried by someone like Kyoko or to a lesser extent, Nagito and Chiaki. I don’t want to argue about this anymore, so I’ll sum up my current feelings on Hajime: I don’t care for him. I find him boring and still don’t think he contributes anything to the game that couldn’t have been written to be done by another character, excluding Chapter 6. I think he’s boring, but not an objectively bad character or anything. Nothing I say in this video is supposed to be objective or change anyone's opinion on any part of the game, especially not negatively. This is not supposed to be “Why Danganronpa 2 is a terrible game that nobody should like”, it’s supposed to be, “I really don’t like Danganronpa 2. This is my justification for why.” All of my opinions are just my own feelings and are completely subject to bias and change. I often state them as if they were facts either for simplicity or to play up my like/dislike of the subject, but know I never intended that section on Hajime to make people realize he’s actually a bad character - that’s basically the opposite of what I want to do on this channel. In general, I want to focus on the good in pieces of media, it’s just that Danganronpa is a special case where this series has caused me (minor) mental anguish for four years and I just kinda want to rant about my likely unjustified dislike for it. I’m glad you like Hajime, and that people really like this game, because in the end the positive experiences gained from it are what really counts.
I liked it, the cast was entertaining to me, but.. I’ll admit one thing.. the murders could have been much better. It wasn’t really.. exciting. I feel like Mikan killing was a little TOO predictable.
