I am having the same issue. I will try trouble shooting but I have a new controller and display.

If replacing the controller doesn't fix it and you are still getting a Code 18, it's probably the hall sensor. You can try replacing just the hall sensor, but it's probably easier to replace the entire motor instead ... and if you do that, you can update the motor to pick up a complete of MPH :)
      Good Luck!!!

Hello my ninebot es2 also said error CODE 18 but when i disconnected the Brown/red wire in the control,er it worked im just wondering what the red/brown wire does and if its important. Beacause when i Connect thr red/brown wire it vibratoets, like it driving and braking at the same time.

So you have an extra plug? The controller that I got had an extra set of wires, but there was nothing to plug the wires into.
There are three single wires (one yellow, one blue, and one brown), and then there is a six prong wire, and a four prong wire. There was another two prong wire on the controller that I bought. Some controllers did not have this extra two prong wire (but they were more expensive, so I got the cheaper controller with the extra wires).
Is that the one you are referring to? And my philosophy has always been ... if it ain't broke, don't fix it !!! lol So if it's working, don't touch anything!! :)

What's a fair price to pay for a 9Bot that has the 18 code and needs this repair?

Here's the calculation that I did. A brand new Ninebot ES2 is about $350 on Amazon, so I think a fair price for a working used ES2 is about $200. Error Code 18 could mean a couple of different things.
If it's the control board (like the part I replaced in the video), that's about $40-70 on Amazon, so if you pickup a used ES2 with an Error 18 for $100, then for $140-170 you got a working scooter and that seems fair.
However, if it really is the Hall Sensor, then you have to replace the motor, which is about $90-120 then you end up sinking in about $190-220. So it's a bit of a gamble, but in most cases Error 18 is the control board, so if you can get something under $100 you won't get hurt too badly.
      Hope that helps!! Good luck!!

@@kintsugimoto Thanks for your quick reply! Found one with 18 code, asking $150. They say it just needs to be reset, your video tells me otherwise. Subscribed to your channel!

Yeah, Error Code 18 will take more than just a simple reset. If it was that easy, they could have just reset it themselves and sold it as a working unit :)

True, but by replacing that part ... the error code went away :)
