Heinrich Schütz (ur. 9 października 1585 , Köstritz, zm. 6 listopada 1672 , Drezno ) -- niemiecki kompozytor i organista , uważany za najwybitniejszego niemieckiego kompozytora tworzącego przed Bachem i jednego z najwybitniejszych kompozytorów XVII wieku, stawiany na równi z Claudio Monteverdim . We współpracy z poetą Martinem Opitzem von Boberfeld zaadaptował operę Ottavio Rinucciniego Dafne, która stała się pierwszą operą w języku niemieckim (zaginęła).
Zauważony przez Moritza von Hessen Kassela w 1599, jako chórzysta wyjechał do Marburga studiować prawo, a później do Wenecji , gdzie w latach 1609-1613 uczył się u Giovanniego Gabrielego . W jego muzyce wyraźny jest też wpływ Monteverdiego i kompozytorów niderlandzkich z XVI w.
Przez krótki okres był organistą w Kassel , po czym w 1615 roku przeniósł się do Drezna , gdzie pełnił funkcję nadwornego kompozytora na dworze elektora Saksonii . Po wojnie trzydziestoletniej , która zdezorganizowała życie dworu, przyjął w roku 1633 posadę w Kopenhadze .Do Drezna wrócił w roku 1641, gdzie pozostał do końca życia.
Schütz przeniósł na grunt niemiecki osiągnięcia szkoły weneckiej -- polichóralność i styl koncertujący. Przyczynił się także do rozwoju luterańskiej muzyki kościelnej , adaptując dla jej celów nowe, barokowe techniki kompozytorskie i wykonawcze, rozwinięte we Włoszech w pierwszej połowie XVII wieku.

Założony ponad 30 lat temu przez kontratenora Dominique'a Visse Ensemble Clément Janequin brzmi niewiarygodnie. Były chórzysta Katedry Notre Dame w Paryżu, wychowanek Konserwatorium w Wersalu oraz wielkiego śpiewaka Alfreda Dellera -- wiedział jak stworzyć idealny wokalnie team. Do współpracy zaprosił tenora Martiala Pauliat, barytona Vincenta Bouchot'a oraz basa Françoisa Fauché. Razem, nie mają sobie równych w interpretacji muzyki francuskiego Złotego Wieku. Ich głosy idealnie się stapiają, tworzą jeden wokalny instrument, który wydaje niesamowite brzmienia. Ogromna to zasługa mózgu zespołu -- Dominique Vise -- współzałożyciela także innej wybitnej formacji Les Arts Florissants. Jeden z najbardziej popularnych lirycznych śpiewaków w świecie opery barokowej ma na koncie karierę wokalną, którą możnaby obdzielić paru artystów. Współpracował z takimi sławami, jak René Jacobs, Jean-Claude Malgoire, Philippe Herreweghe, Ton Koopman, William Christie, Alan Curtis, Nicholas McGegan, Christophe Rousset, Ivor Bolton, Robert King, Harry Bicket i Emmanuelle Haïm, w teatrach operowych w Paryżu, Berlinie, Kolonii, Amsterdamie, Lozannie, Tel-Awiwie, Houston, Barcelonie, Paryżu (Châtelet i Théâtre des Champs Elysées). Les Sacqueboutiers have been in existence for more than thirty years, during which time they have built up a reputation as one of the finest early music ensembles on the international scene.
Regarded by specialists and the public alike as a reference in the interpretation of seventeenth-century instrumental music, particularly that of Italy and Germany, the ensemble has reaped the highest awards for its recordings.
When they decided to form Les Sacqueboutiers in 1974, Jean-Pierre Canihac and Jean-Pierre Mathieu were among the first to embark on the adventurous rediscovery of early instruments. The quality of their work soon attracted attention, and they took part in the groundbreaking recording of Monteverdi's Vespro della Beata Vergine, conducted by Michel Corboz. Since then, they have performed music ranging from the Renaissance to Mozart, with many prestigious ensembles including Les Arts Florissants (William Christie), La Chapelle Royale (Philippe Herreweghe), A Sei Voci (Bernard Fabre-Garrus), Elyma (Gabriel Garrido), La Grande Ecurie et la Chambre du Roy (Jean-Claude Malgoire), the Clément Janequin Ensemble (Dominique Visse)...
With these ensembles or in their own programmes, Les Sacqueboutiers have appeared at all the great European festivals, in North and South America...
The group comprises a nucleus of cornetts and sackbuts, which are joined, as the needs arise, by other instruments (violins, viols, bassoons, shawms) and vocalist(s) (a soloist, a group of ten or so singers, or a vocal quartet).

The Schütz's musical work that it touch me more along to Musikalische Exequien. Each time I like more the music of this ''pre bachian'' composer. It's so rich. From very intimate Passions to splendorous Psalmen Davids. Amazing in its range! And a shame that it's not more performed. Thank you!
I should have starved as a musician performing such wonderful works than writing software. My soul might have been so much more full for it. Such genius. Such beautiful music.
It's never to late for discovering such worlds of linguistic dignity, musical solemnity and thoughtfulness.
This is one of the most moving scores of the prebaroque era. Schutz was really a great composer, who most of the time lacked cruelly of means of composing due to the thirty years war and the shortage of musicians and finances.
