As far as "arm punts" on very long 3rd downs...you also have a chance at a big defensive penalty, or a catch by your WR, both equal 1st downs. Not always the worst thing to do.
By that logic in a punt you have the chance of a roughing the kicker penalty, an offside, muffed punt or a fumble during the return. Also, you have your entire personnel amd alignment set up with the task of stopping the returner. So... yeah, no, if you're punting it just punt.

Not to take my own victory lap after week 3 but some of us have been trying to tell you that Derek Carr isnt a good QB. He's a good guy, plays hard and is probably a great teammate. Which makes him easy to root. He just isnt anything more than average as a QB. He plays timid, is inconsistent in when or where he will refuse to take an open play trying to make a big play or ignore a big play for a checkdown. Thats not even mentioning how terrible he is in the red zone, which is not a new thing.
I was really impressed with Love's pocket presence, it wasn't all offensive line giving him time although they played well. Also Love was pretty accurate most of the time, had 5-6 plays were it was in WR hands just tight coverage
Agreed. Sure he has had bad misses, but they're really understanding how many incompletions were right there and catchable but the receiver didn't come down with it.
Ehh...as a Packers fan, he played...meh. He was definitely inaccurate, sure there were some drops but there were also a few plays that got away from the defense where they should've had interceptions. He had some good throws, a couple great ones, and more than a few terrible ones lol
A lot of those late completions weren't easy. Of course, maybe it would be nice for them to be easy from time to time. IDK if that's all on Love, but I remember feeling bad for Adams a few seasons back when Rodgers would target him time and again, throwing it as his shoelaces while broadcasters gave him cover by always claiming he intended to throw it "where no one else could catch it." I respect Mike McDaniel not kicking the field goal but I feel like Tua and the team earned that record fair and square and Mike kinda stole it from them.
The story of this game is the Saints missed opportunities? If the Saints failed primarily in the red zone, how come they mustered only 252 yards in the game, were 4-14 on third downs etc? Yes, Love missed some throws, and he needs to fix his deep throw problem. But going up against a stout defense, and overcoming untimely penalties and drops through 3 quarters, I don't think it's fair to say that Love dug his own hole. In fact, when the penalties and drops stopped happening in the 4th quarter, he was nails...in a high pressure situation.
If you go through your Falcons analysis without mentioning the regression of the o-line (both pass pro and run blocking), you're not really doing your job.

You can quote Carr’s PFF passing grade in the Red Zone, unfortunately, I can’t trust your passing grades after Derek Carr’s grade Vs the Patriots last season, so it’s about as objective and useful as just saying “he sucks”. The red zone in this particular game went like this. 1st trip: Run play Carr threw a pass too high in the back of the end zone to Kirkwood Carr threw a TD pass to Jimmy Graham 2nd Trip: Pass batted down at the line Run play A good pass to Olave, in the front corner of the end zone, that was broken up by an excellent play by the defender. The throw & decision was fine. The ball still made it through, but being tipped effected Olave catching it. FG 4 pass attempts: 1 TD pass 1 Good pass, that was defended well. 1 pass Batted Down at the line. 1 inaccurate pass. I’m not sure what you are trying to say happened in this game in the Red Zone with Derek Carr?

Seems like they don’t want to give jordan love his props.. 90% of drives started with a holding or false start
He also isn't even grazed by the pass rush in 95% of his drop backs so there is that too.
@@ХорхеГарсия-э5е missing their best two offensive lineman vs a good saints defense.. idk but it’s love the defensive line had a clear Advantage yet he’s still
Not taking many sacks
@@Bigsosa214
Could it be that the Oline is good at pass pro? Just throwing it out there. If you're gonna give them shit for holding or false starts maybe you should also give them their flowers for being good at their job of not letting the QB get hit.
@@ХорхеГарсия-э5е this is my whole point your trying to dis credit the dude in Any way.. if you told anyone jordan love was going in to week 4 with 7 passing tds and 1 int without their most explosive receiver and Aaron Jones for 2 games they’d proly laugh at you just give the guy some credit
If you're going to discredit the yardage that RBs acquire because they're dependent on other players to do their job, extend that logic to idk every other position on offense.
one stat that will never be duplicated.
the dolphins had 9 third downs and 10 tds.
No mention of tuli for the chargers , think he’s got the best pff score for rookies for his postion , could be wrong but dude is a beast
Keep hating on Love! At least he didn’t scowl every time his receiver dropped a pass (which happened A LOT!), or pout and give up after a horrible first half. He believes in his teammates and they believe in him.
Give Gonzo credit
Football would be improved if incompletions on 4th down just downed the ball where it fell.
All punts would be arm punts
Shoutout Matt Asiata for poaching passing down work from AP
I respect Mike McDaniel not kicking the field goal but I feel like Tua and the team earned that record fair and square and Mike kinda stole it from them.
A meaningless record! How many people knew who held that record before yesterday! And how many actually care!
Steve and Sam good show, expert analysis of the games. Steve for Raiders GM and HC Mcdaniels sacked soon.
No such thing As an expert analysis. Just an analysis. They just watch games like everyone else
Vrabel is rapidly evolving into Brett Bielema
The story of this game is the Saints missed opportunities? If the Saints failed primarily in the red zone, how come they mustered only 252 yards in the game, were 4-14 on third downs etc? Yes, Love missed some throws, and he needs to fix his deep throw problem. But going up against a stout defense, and overcoming untimely penalties and drops through 3 quarters, I don't think it's fair to say that Love dug his own hole. In fact, when the penalties and drops stopped happening in the 4th quarter, he was nails...in a high pressure situation.
Blaine Gabbert was perfect in relief of Mahomes - 5 for 5. Unfortunately, 2 of them were caught by Bears.
Sam needs to take the L on Gonzalez
If not for turnovers the Browns only gave up 13 in 3 games. Turnovers were costly.
These guys are tough on Jordan Love good lord
Take the L Sam on Gonzalez
Why is this not on Spotify
If you go through your Falcons analysis without mentioning the regression of the o-line (both pass pro and run blocking), you're not really doing your job.
You guys should watch a portion of each half of that Chargers game before attempting a review. The blitzes were getting pressure, but either a) Herbert's release was too fast, or b.) Herbert eluded pressure. Your take made it sound like Florezs D was not able to provide pressure, completely false.
Y’all still hating on the Texans?
BIG FACTS, I just said that shit. They was talking down on us bad… Niggaz act like they ain’t never said nothing 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
They're still a bad team lol
@@TheXenochrist who’s your team?
@@TheXenochristso let me get this straight a team that’s considered the fav is the AFC south also a fav to make the playoffs at full strength vs a team that has 14 injured players 4 of the 5 starters on Oline were out, no starting Saftey, no starting MLB, Rookie head coach, and rookie OC. They walk into the Jags home and skull drag them for 60 minutes and you still think their bad? Sounds like the jags are the worst team in the nfl if you let a Injury stricken team completely bludgeon you from start to finish. The Texans are not as trash people think
@@MildsandThatYac Yes? It's one game my dude. This doesn't prove that the Texans are good, just that the Jags are probably worse/regressing. The Texans are a still rebuilding team and it's unlikely they'll be serious competitors this year. The only thing they have going for them is being in arguably the worst division that's a probably a toss up at this point. Even if they sneak in they have no shot against the real contenders of the AFC.
Watson saw Elijah Moore behind him and he was trying to lateral to him
Sam is always borderline unbearable. Saying dumb stuff like “I could guard Garret Wilson with Zach Wilson at QB” or just ever referring to himself as an athlete that is capable of anything on the football field is ridiculous. Even worse is his inability to ever admit he was wrong about a player or team. He always works some kind of mental gymnastics to prove he is never wrong. I absolutely love Steve and I just have to assume Sam has some dirt on Collinsworth and that’s how he keeps his job that he is so awful at.
The Jets need to leave Zach Wilson in and try to get into the Drake Maye sweepstakes. Until they draft a good QB nothing else matters.
There back 12s make it hard for Dalton and Panthers
🤦♂️ Carr was 1 of 2 in the Red Zone this game.
Ist trip was a TD pass to Jimmy Graham.
2nd was a great defensive play, tipping the pass to Olave in the Corner of the end zone from being a 2 for 2 day.
You can quote Carr’s PFF passing grade in the Red Zone, unfortunately, I can’t trust your passing grades after Derek Carr’s grade Vs the Patriots last season, so it’s about as objective and useful as just saying “he sucks”.
The red zone in this particular game went like this.
1st trip:
Run play
Carr threw a pass too high in the back of the end zone to Kirkwood
Carr threw a TD pass to Jimmy Graham
2nd Trip:
Pass batted down at the line
Run play
A good pass to Olave, in the front corner of the end zone, that was broken up by an excellent play by the defender. The throw & decision was fine. The ball still made it through, but being tipped effected Olave catching it.
FG
4 pass attempts:
1 TD pass
1 Good pass, that was defended well.
1 pass Batted Down at the line.
1 inaccurate pass.
I’m not sure what you are trying to say happened in this game in the Red Zone with Derek Carr?
I’m serious Sam & Steve, please enlighten me how, in a sample size of FOUR passes Carr attempted in the Red Zone in THIS Game, how they were that “inferior” to every other QB in the NFL?
I’m waiting…
21:28 saying lamar was inaccurate late into the game without mentioning the several blatant drops in the same period is disingenuous to people who couldn’t/didn’t watch the game. it was lions vs chiefs bad in terms of dropped passes in the 4Q and OT
Even on PFF I got stupid Taylor Swift talk instead of why I’m here.
Plus Geno is playing with a make shift offensive line and still finding a way to win
5 minute ramble about the Colts tuning their kicker off the field.. it really wasn’t that big of a deal!!
Motion on defense: see Michael Bennett in Legion of Boom days
Not only did Branch fall to the 2nd round, but Green Bay GAVE him to the Lions for a late rounder. lol
We used that 2nd we traded back on Jayden Reed who has been our best WR with Watson out
@@lionofthecherubim4486 but what did you use that extra pick on? you could have hat watson anyway. Lions could not possibly be happier with Branch and it burns Tom Grossi everytime his name is mentioned making a play :)
@@snow3017 What? We drafted Watson in 22' not in 23'
I cant recall what we used the extra pick on, but regardless, we have Jayden Reed because we didnt take Branch. Reed has been our best WR thus far.
@@lionofthecherubim4486 Branch is a rookie - 2023 draft. Not sure why Watson is in the discussion since he was 2022 draft. I looked up the trade. Lions got 45 ( took Branch). Packers got 48 (traded to tampa and eventually took Reed at 50 + DE Brooks at 179) and pick 159. With the 159th pick, the Packers took WR Dontayvion Wicks. It's fine to say they got Reed + Wicks rather than Branch, but they could have had Reed at 45 anyway, so in reality they gave Branch to the lions for Wicks. I am 100% positive the Lions are thrilled with that exchange, as its a massive DEF upgrade for them in an area they sorely needed it. Hopefully its a trade that works out for both sides though. Lions traded 2x with MN the previous year and it worked for both.
@@snow3017
We will see who has the better career between Reed or Branch, we needed WR, not FS as much.
Being a Raider fan is just absolute disappointment and embarrassment year after year. With the way we draft and scheme I’m not sure if we’ll ever be a Super Bowl contender again. It feels like we are allergic to good coaches and draft picks
Fox left the chiefs and bears game on in my area.
Lion vs Falcons?
Re: The younger generation.
Yes, it's possible that they want to know "why" more than previous generations. The problem is that they're not as curious to begin with, so the amount of times they wonder if there IS a "why" is almost microscopic unless they don't want to do it. Then they're ALL about "why" and may even try to change the definitions of common terms to convince themselves they have an argument. 🤣
No discussion of Kendre Miller during saints Packers recap.... but hey there's plenty of time for Taylor Swift? Back to football please!
As regards to Denver's defense you have to consider the weather may have been partially the reason for the effort in the 2nd half~
yep, just like Denver has their altitude factor
Not a Zach Wilson fan but I’m gonna be honest it was not his faults that resulted in that game. Point to me the play in which there was a receiver open even nfl open. That offense was terrible at scheming open plays and Gonzalez shadowed wilson perfectly. Sam either didn’t see the game or is just delusional about Gonzalez performance
Nah y’all ain’t give Love enough credit
Falcons were an andy Dalton away from smashing the lions
Patriots offense is a lot like the jaguars offense 4 almost plays away from 2-1 or 3-0
The Panthers defense may be the best in that division
Frank Reich is an L and should be fired
Seahawks will crush the giants
Kirk Cousins to the Jets. Vikings fully tank for Caleb. My lips to KAM's ears
Panthers Seahawks time stamp is off by like 2 minutes

Chargers decision to do 4th and 1 came from analytics, 9% higher chance in that situation to win the game.
Chargers deciding to go for it on 4th and 1, came from stupidity…
