    I use Amway Pre-wash spray which was especially made to remove oily stains (I always order one for laundry and an extra for my dolls:D). I just spray it on my dolls' hair, wait for 5-10 minutes and then dunk the hair into lukewarm water. Sometimes, when I'm too lazy, I just rinse it with baby shampoo. But it totally works:)

      Fairy With Dolls thank you so much for the tip! I will have to try that method too :-)

    You also could use furniture polish or powder oxy clean mixed with hot water to get the glue out as well. Both of those methods have worked for me too

      Awesome suggestion, thanks! I just learned about the oxy-clean one and that worked great!

    I try doing this with seed oil! It definitely worked for me. My 2013 Holiday Barbie hair was very sticky on her scalp.

    April Pinetwinkle, I'm not sure where your comment went, but yeah, it seems ok to fill the head with the talc powder! I have a few I've done that have lasted a few years like this, no problems at all. :)

    i used some pre treat spray on my bratz that’s been in a box for 16 years and it actually worked great i couldn’t even brush the top of her head it was almost like someone dumped gel onto it. but i put that in her hair like 2 squirts max and rinsed it and she was fine

      @@FarrahLily This is the only video I've watched where such is recommended. Did it work out in long term? I plan to put the powder in my dolls' heads, let it sit then remove the excess powder after a day and put it back.

    • @FarrahLily
      @FarrahLily  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rumis.dollsss.15 yes! It's been a few years since I made that video and all of the dolls hair I've put power in still look great! I could probably remove the head and empty it out at this point as I'm sure, by now, the glue has probably all been absorbed.

    the goo gone works good for me, sometimes you need to do it twice though!(if its pretty bad)Let it soak in it for a while half hour or so... then shampoo with dawn a couple times

    • @FarrahLily
      @FarrahLily  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      that's great that it works for you as well! I had to do the Goo Gone x 2 as well and it worked :)

      @@FarrahLily how long does it take to get the Goo Gone smell out? I hate the smell and thought it was chemicals so hadn't tried it yet.

    • @FarrahLily
      @FarrahLily  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Marjorie Earl Dean for me it too about 4 washes with dish soap ( I used Gain) and by that time I only smelled the dish soap. I know what you mean, that Goo Gone smells weird! Orangey weird.

      @@FarrahLily how many times the Goo Gone? Only once?

    • @FarrahLily
      @FarrahLily  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Marjorie Earl Dean for this doll I did 1 goo gone, then washed it 4 times, then I took the head off and filled it with the talc powder, then I put the head back on and did a 2nd goo gone and then washed it four more times and then she was glue free.

    is goo gone safe to use on a doll with unremovable, silver-painted earrings? From this video i can’t really tell since summer’s earrings are just white. I used the oxiclean method on another doll but it ruined her gold earrings :( so i want to try something else

    • @FarrahLily
      @FarrahLily  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      uwu fromis I am not really sure to be totally honest. I would say you could probably use the Goo Gone and try to keep it away from her earrings which would be easier than soaking in Oxyclean. I don't see why it would ruin the earrings but I would maybe put tape over them before you do the Goo Gone and see if that works? I'm sorry if that response isnt more helpful and good luck.

    Wow, I guess these companies have really gone downhill. I have some of my old dolls from when I was a kid [early 90s] and they don't have this problem. I got a couple of monster high and other newer barbies from ebay and they have this glue problem. And the new Rainbow High dolls have something all over their hair, too. I guess it's a styling product but it's gross. What in the world is going on here?

    • @FarrahLily
      @FarrahLily  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s so true. 😢

      In 2007, Mattel switched from the lock and loop method of rooting to gluing the plugs in. In theory, that's not a big deal, but they obviously used a bad glue type that decomposes in a horrible way. So Barbie, Ever After High, and Monster High commonly have this issue. The MGA dolls, like Rainbow High, just use a lot of styling gel, which washes out easily. It's not the same issue.

    I think it would be better to use actual *talcum* powder, not the cornstarch kind. Because it's a kind of clay (as opposed to a food product) it has better absorbing qualities, which is exactly the point of putting it in the head.
    Yes, talc is carcinogenic (if you breathe it), but in this case, the amount you would potentially inhale is next to zero. Nevertheless, make sure it's out of reach of children. (I even put a skull and crossbones on the container.)
