  • In Japan, teriyaki beef isn't a stir-fried dish of rubbery beef and sweet sauce. Try teriyaki with a good-quality steak and taste the difference.
    This recipe uses the homemade teriyaki sauce from my "Teriyaki Sauce & How To Use It" playlist.

      Finally a guy who understands regular folks who need a little help in learning new foods and how to cook them. Meats, sauces, marinades and how to put it together. I now know how to make my own Teriyaki and teach dinner guests who love it how to make it, great taste.

    That's one nice cut of meat to use for Teriyaki!
    Now I'll have to go down to the local Japanese market and get a couple Wague steaks!
    I've been making my own Teriyaki sauce for years. I consider the Saki as optional, although I usually do use it if I have some, otherwise equal parts sugar, Merin, and soy.

    • @adamliaw
      @adamliaw  6 ปีที่แล้ว +176

      You see, I don't really like it when people taste their own food on camera. It seems egotistical to me that someone would cook something, then taste it, and then tell you that the thing they made themselves was great!

    • @HeadbangersKitchen
      @HeadbangersKitchen 6 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      hahah fair point, I guess I see it differently because I taste my own food on the channel but a lot of the stuff I make is new dishes that I might be making for maybe even the first time but most of my viewers want to see me taste and enjoy the food so I guess maybe I also like to see the person enjoy the food. It's more I guess to eat the dish through the host rather than look at it from a POV that it's an ego thing. :) But I guess you got to do what makes sense to you. Seeing you eat that steak would make me feel like I am getting a taste of it. :)

      @@lac513 Hi there, if you were wanting the exact brand its a 'Solidteknics' pan, which are definitely available in the US (Australian made but now I think they also have a US production line.) A good value brand is De Buyer. If you want the best, I recommend seeking out a Blanc Creatives pan - US made and exquisite...and pricey. Carbon steel is an excellent material for a steak pan, I encourage you to give it a try!

    Nice video, very well made. But a steak does bleed when you cut it. It's just meat juices and water coming out.

    • @MTMF.london
      @MTMF.london 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not unless you like it too rare. You need to rest the steak a couple of minutes (may be up to 5 if thicker) after cooking medium rare and it won't bleed.

  • @michaelfoster4355

    Nice. But blood is not the juices. The blood in that animal left a long time ago. The juices are actually made of Myoglobin. It is a protein in meat that contains iron, hence the red color. Cheers!
