I bought one that is made in April, just a few months old straight from a Chinese factory. Metal knobs, perfect craftsmanship regarding finish, neck pocket, fret ends, tuners. EVERYTHING IS GREAT! :) Love the lil beast :)
They are a whole lot of fun and surprise everyone who hears them.
Mine is black with a maple fingerboard. I paid about $179 and It sounds awesome with it's steel strings. I had it for years, and have used it at gigs. I love short scale basses and this is my shortest and I love it to death!
I'm a gigging musician and I've been playing the Ibanez GSRM 25 (5 string) bass for well over a year. Have never had it professionally set up, just my own tweaks. I love playing it and with my SansAmp DI I can get all the tone I need. I get a lot of compliments on my sound. I don't use an amp on stage. I go direct and we have IEMs. I don't even touch any of my other basses anymore.
I actually just bought one this Christmas. I absolutely love it, much shreddage❤

You're the 2nd person to ask me this and the first to do it so emphatically, lol. I will do it. I can't be sure exactly yet when I will get to it but I will definitely do it. It sounds like a great experiment at least and probably a whole lot of fun. how should I tune it?
About the knobs on the bass, I just got one and the knobs that came with mine are metal.

Does this Mikro bass tune to standard or is it an alternative tuning? Also, does it use different/lighter gauge strings?
Standard tuning and string guage. try to find short scale strings but standard scale strings work too. I've heard it can be used as a piccolo bass with the right strings too.
@@RJsCave Nice! I saw on a forum that lighter strings can be used to tune it up to G standard which would be an interesting sound.
@@MasterofRB2 I can see that working with this crazy short scale. The benefit of this scale is the lack of harmonics. it has a big boomy sound.
@@RJsCave so wait, can you not play harmonic notes on this neck?
@@MasterofRB2 there's plenty of harmonics in the strings. it's just a tension thing. the little bass sounds bigger because it sounds girthier. Doing harmonics on strings is about gain

The music is great, but it's a bit loud, making it harder to understand what you are saying.
With a head like mine, it's completely impossible to listen to your review and the background music at the same time. I just gave up after 30 seconds.
This bass is smaller than Glarry GW 101 bass?
No. scale length is 28.6 inches. the glarry is 25.5 inches
I just ordered the Ibanez Mikro in 5 string. I'll be sure to check the knobs but I'm betting they're still plastic. Lol.
